I hate the day after the X Games. I get so invested in it and excited about it, that when it's over, it's just like... a huge crash. And of course, it doesn't help at all that QAF ended last night so I'm crashing from that as well.

To make things worse, of course today has to be a Monday and I had to have a tenor sax lesson. blah. And then, when we were starting the car to leave, the battery started to die. The car would barely start up. So we went to the place (...the dealership? My mind is totally dead right now, but I think that's the correct word) and then left the car and rented another. We should have the car back by tomorrow, but it was still annoying to have to go through. I tried to use the oppurtunity to convince my mom to buy me a car since we were surrounded by hundreds of cars waiting to be sold but it didn't work (...not that I really expected it to).

Tonight is another SAT diagnostic test. sigh. But it's the last one until the actual test in October, so I'll deal. We only have SAT class Tuesday and Wednesday this week, and then it's over. Then I have my first full week of being able to do absolutely nothing all day of summer break. The week after that, band camp starts, and then school. eck.

So, yeah. I'm looking forward to it being Thursday. At the very least, I'm looking forward to this day being over.

edit: Lulu, I finally made your header. I checked it against your layout and I think it looks all right. I also have a fully black and white version if you want to use that instead. Hope you like it. :) If you don't, just let me know what you want changed and I'll try to make a better one.

Aw, man. It's over. Don't really feel like talking about it, other than saying that Bob Burnquist is amazing. I mean, he falls and totally hurts his hip and groans in pain on the ground for several minutes and then goes up for his last fucking run! geez. ...also, Bucky Lasek came right over to Bob when he saw that he was hurt. awwwww. After Skateboard Big Air they showed BMX best trick from yesterday. I ended up watching the Supercross thing anyways. It's actually pretty exciting once you start watching it. Then they showed a final like... clips reel thing from the X Games and once again pretended that Skateboard Vert Best Trick never happened. gr.

Ok, so now I have to prepare myself before watching the Queer as Folk series finale.

20 Emotional TV Moments Meme )

Ok, now I'm off to watch Skateboard Big Air. After that is the supermoto thing which I really couldn't care less about (I'd rather watch Moto X Step Up), which means that by 1 or 1:30ish, X Games will be over for me. sigh. It's so fun to get as excited as I do over the X Games, but that means that once the end comes, I'm in for a major crash. And if that wasn't enough, the series finale of Queer as Folk is on tonight as well. sigh. Tomorrow will not be fun.

What an awesome, awesome day. I saw Women's Skate Vert Best Trick, an Inline (rollerskates) Demo, Men's Skate Best Trick in which Bob Burnquist won gold, and I then met Bob Burnquist. omg I love the X Games.

More detailed post of my day, including my comments on Women's Skate Vert, the Inline Demo, and Men's Skate Best Trick. )

All right, now for the events I watched when I got home. But first, wtf? They didn't air either the BMX best trick OR the skate best trick events! HOW THE FUCK DO YOU NOT SHOW THOSE!? I mean, I think skate best trick is my absolute favorite event. HOW CAN YOU NOT SHOW THAT!? What the hell?! That pisses me off. I'm just glad that I actually did get to go to the best trick and not being able to find anyone to go and people who told me they'd go backing out for no reason didn't fuck that up. Anyways, now for the stuff I watched at home.

Fiiiinally, pictures from today! Not nearly as many as yesterday. Less than 30. )

Lastly, hi. Did they have to keep showing Tony Hawk's 900 during the breaks on the screen when we were inside? I mean, it wasn't all they showed, but they showed it a fair amount. And dude, that seriously makes me cry. Um, in a happy way, though. It was just so fucking amazing and seeing all the fucking support from the other skaters (that's one reason why skateboarding's my favorite event at X Games; you really don't see nearly as much... support for the other competitors in the other events. I mean, you do see it, but it's just... I don't know. They always seem so much less friendly to me.) and the crowd and how he kept going after it and his expression when he finally did it and... geez. It makes me all teary. So yeah, you didn't need to show me that 9 bajillion times and make me have to stop myself from getting all teary and emotional. Why yes, I am aware that I am totally pathetic.

Skateboard big air tomorrow! ...I will not be there, though. My last day of live X Games (until next year). Man am I glad that I got tickets, though. These two days have been so fucking awesome. I'm so happy and so thankful and so... geez. But yeah. I'm really looking forward to skateboard big air. I mean, first, Bob qualified first in the prelims, and Bucky qualified second. Bucky didn't compete last year, either, so this makes me very, very happy. And last year Bob was injured so he performed pretty poorly. But he's qualified first! This is of course after the top 3 from last year who made it in automatically and didn't have to do the pre-lims thing this morning. But still! And I think it'll be a lot more insane after everyone's already tried the ramp out before. I mean, last year it was this brand new thing, but this year, it's not like... such a new concept, I guess. They've had a year to think about it and work on things and such. So yeah. Should be fun to watch. :D

Ok, now I need to go make some more X Games icons even though I'll only use them like twice a year (now and the Gravity Games). Then maybe I'll have a good number of icons and can make an icon post tomorrow (insanity!).
brokenrecord: (Default)

I met Bob Burnquist.

A more coherent post about today (with more pictures! Not nearly as many as yesterday, though.) will come after I watch all the X Games coverage I recorded from today. I think I'm still far too in shock to talk about anything right now.

Today was probably the most awesome day of my life.

Annie and I are both clearly insane. But in the most awesome way ever. (It is also evident that Annie and me + no sleep + boy love = insanity.)

...yeah. There are no words to describe this. Just let me say that it involves "touched up photos" (i.e. pictures we drew in MSPaint. Or at least that's what I used. She may have used Photoshop) to argue whether Bob Burnquist is having an affair with Sandro Dias and trying to seduce Andy McDonald or if it's all just a misunderstanding and Bob totally loves Bucky. So, here's our conversation.

What really happened at Vert Skate today. )

...it is understandable if you skip this post, but I absolutely had to document our insanity. In any case, maybe Lulu and Tiffany will find it somewhat amusing, as they actually know Annie and me. Or, maybe we're just completely insane. :)
brokenrecord: (Default)
I have pictures! Many, many pictures. I took 55, Annie took like... 49. So, yeah. Dial-up users, beware.

Lastly, an animation Annie made from two pictures of Andy Macdonald she took. Even if you don't watch skateboarding or care about any of this in the slightest, you have to see this animation. It is awesome.

All right, that's all. Expect more picspam tomorrow! :D
brokenrecord: (Default)
omg that was so fucking awesome.

Skateboard Vert )

I took loads of pictures and so did Annie, so I'm going to post them in another post instead of here, because... they're a lot. I took 55, Annie took like... 49. So, yeah. Lots of pictures. And I wanted to post this before going through all the pictures, because that'll probably take some time. So if you care about pictures, I'll be posting them soon-ish.

Moto X Step Up was on and I recorded it, but I decided not to watch it. I think it's probably the event I care least about. I mean, I watched it and got all into it last year, but didn't feel like seeing it this year.

Tomorrow: going to see Skateboard Best Trick! And my seats for this are supposed to be better than the one's I had today. eee I cannot wait! :D

Moto X Best Trick )

Tomorrow is the Skateboard Vert competition, and I'LL ACTUALLY BE THERE! Ah, this is so insane. According to ticketmaster, our seats have limited view, which sucks, but... I'm just excited to be there. I'll watch it on TV when I get home if I want to see all the stuff better.

Thank you everyone who filled out my poll! You guys are all so awesome. I love my friends list. :D By the way, Lulu ([livejournal.com profile] violetmist2003) wins at being my oldest friend at "238473284 to the infinity and beyond!" years. I think there's a chance she may have been exaggerating a bit, though.

I guess a week's worth of total insomnia finally caught up with me, because I went to bed at 11:15 and had fallen asleep by 12:15. I guess that sounds kind of long, but for me, 12:15 is early. Besides, I like to listen to Loveline from 11-12. So, falling asleep not long after Loveline ends is good. Of course, I woke up this morning just as the Bob Burnquist interview was ending. sigh. Not as bad as this one time last year, though. The creators of Wonderfalls were supposed to be on the morning show on KROQ and I think it must've been right after it was cancelled and I really wanted to listen to it, and it was during spring break so I actually would've been able to listen to it if I had woken up in time. So, I woke up (not sure what time) and I heard them come back from a break and say "The creators of Wonderfalls, next!" and I was like "OMG YES PERFECT TIMING!" And they put on a song, and I promptly fell asleep. I was so pissed off at myself for that the rest of the day.

Sometime during my nice, long sleep, I had this crazy-ass dream where I was at a Lakers game and Daniel Radcliffe (actor who plays Harry Potter in the HP movies) was playing point guard. He was so much shorter than everyone else playing, it was crazy. And there was this television on the wall and all of the sudden it started playing a short interview with Bob Burnquist. I forgot what he said, though. Oh, and at the same time as the Laker game, there were like... two courts in the place where they were playing, so there were a few random people playing basketball on the other court. I found that amusing during my dream, for some reason. Yeah. Anyways.

OMG X GAMES START TONIGHT! Hate being on the west coast, though, because it goes from 6-9 here, meaning that it starts during my SAT class. Stupid class. I have it set to record (I have no idea how I ever survived before I got a DVR player), but I still wish I could watch it as it starts. blah.

Taken from [livejournal.com profile] spike_buffy:
True Story: A religion teacher assigned her class an essay on what makes a good Christian. One student wrote about praying nightly, say no to abortion, banning gay marriage, and donating money. The other student wrote about talking to God and allowing people to enjoy their lives, and supporting gay marriage. The day the teacher was to hand the papers back, she called up the second student and told him she would pray for him when he went to hell. The student asked why would he be going to hell, and why he got an F on his paper. The teacher told him that Catholicism is against gay marriage. The student looked at her for a minute, then said aloud, "I'm gay." The teacher kicked him out of class as if he had said fuck or worshiped Satan. A girl in the back of class who had a boyfriend and was obviously straight got up and left too.

If you would leave the classroom, repost this. It doesn't matter if you're straight, bi, or gay. It doesn't matter if you're Catholic or not. Everyone is a human being and deserves happiness.

Making a mood theme is very, very tedious. I got tired of doing it and downloaded both an Arrested Development mood theme and a Veronica/Logan mood theme (credits for both are in my userinfo, too lazy to list them here). This is not to say that I've given up making my own. Actually, I think I want to make a multi-fandom one for myself. I just don't have the energy to do it now. After I've finished uploading the Arrested Development mood theme, I think I'll look for a QaF one and a Dead Like Me one.

Poll! )

This morning I woke up as the morning show on KROQ was ending and they were talking about who'd be on the show tomorrow, and they said that Bob Burnquist would be on tomorrow. guh. Bob Burnquist is my absolute favorite vert skateboarder (though I also love a bunch of others: Bucky Lasek, Tony Hawk, Shaun White, Pierre-Luc Gagnon, Sandro Dias, Andy McDonald, etc.). I must wake up in time for this. I wish they said what time the different people would be on. blah. I'll probably miss it, but oh well. And I realized that even I said in the last post only 2 days till X Games, it actually starts tomorrow. 2 days until I get to go, but there are still events to watch tomorrow. Awesome. I cannot wait. :D

All right, I guess I'll go finish uploading/finding mood themes.
brokenrecord: (Default)
I think I have insomnia. Or something. I've been going to bed at like 2 AM every night for the past week and not falling asleep till 3 or 4 and waking up at 10ish and I feel exhausted all day long but I just can't fucking get to sleep. It's annoying. I almost wish school was in. Having to wake up at 6 AM every morning is much more conducive to falling asleep by midnight. blah.

I started to make my own mood theme! Downloading someone else's would probably be far simpler, but... well, I like to make things more complicated than they need to be. It was going to be Veronica/Logan, but then it turns out it's very, very hard to find V/L pictures for things like "confused" and "thirsty" and so on. So now it's just mostly Veronica with some Logan and Lilly thrown in. It's not even close to being finished, as it's a very tedious process, and I'm very lazy, so I'm just finding a picture or two for moods anytime I'm bored out of my mind. I love the picture for happy, though. I mean, come on. Who wouldn't be happy after seeing that? ...besides, you know, people who hate V/L, are indifferent to V/L, or have never seen Veronica Mars. Um. But still. Anyways, if the mood theme ends up sucking, I'll just download a few from other people. I like that you can have like... several mood themes uploaded at once so you can switch between them if you get tired of one fandom or just feel like changing things.

X Games in two days! I'm so excited. Even if I weren't actually going to two dates, I'd be going insane right about now. I love the X Games. So much fun. Expect much long, detailed squee-age about the X Games this weekend.

Stolen from someone (...I really need to remember to write people's usernames down when I copy the memes):
Please comment with your favorite and least favorite of my userpics and why. I'll return the favor if you do it in your journal.
brokenrecord: (Default)
So, I thought I had the X Games all figured out, but last night Tiffany told me all of a sudden that she doesn't want to go to the second date anymore (apparently she's lost interest in skateboarding over the past 2 years. Though, I'm not exactly sure why she offered to go if she's lost interest. I mean, what exactly did she think would happen at Skateboarding Best Trick?). And I know Annie can't go already, and Lulu probably won't be able to, and that leaves me screwed, because I don't know anyone else who'd be at all interested in going, and my mom won't let me go alone. I'd rather not go alone, really. [sigh] I asked Lulu about it again and she said she'd check, but she probably won't be able to go. gah. I really don't want to have to miss this. X Games is (sadly) one of the best parts of my year, and I was so excited to be able to go to both Vert Skate and Skate Best Trick. I mean, even going to one day of X Games is better than nothing, but... I really wanted to be able to go to Best Trick as well. sigh. I hope Lulu can go, even though I'm not counting on it.
Edit: Well, Lulu can't go, but I explained the whole situation to my mom, and she asked me what time the event was (3:30-4:30) and she told me she'd go with me. I love my mom. She said she didn't mind as long as we'd be back before 7 (which we will, if it ends at 4:30ish) so she could have a normal Saturday night with my dad, eating Mexican food and watching movies. So yay, I still get to go. :D My mom is the best mother in the history of ever.

Anyways, new userinfo. It's pretty plain, but... I like it. I think it looks all right. When I was making the lists of shows and ships, I kept forgetting about QAF for some reason, which is why both it and Brian/Justin are so low on the lists. blah. I don't care enough to redo it, though.

Out of the two seasons of Dead Like Me I've been downloading the past few days, guess which one finished? Not season 1, of course. That would be too simple and would make me far too happy. No, season 2 finished sometime last night. sigh. Season 1 is at, like, 89%. I'm hoping it'll finish sometime early tonight so I'll be able to watch some episodes. That would rock.

We have bobcats in our backyard. )

The Body (BTVS season 5 episode) was on today, so I watched it. Man, do I love that episode. It's not my favorite episode (that would be Becoming Part 2), but it definitely makes me tear up more than any other episode. It's so brilliantly done. Forever aired after it, but I didn't feel like watching it as much.

Finally, Arrested Development is rerunning on FOX from 8pm-10pm. It's a hilarious show, so you really should check it out if you haven't. It needs all the viewers it can get. In addition, Veronica Mars is reairing on CBS from 8pm-10pm with the pilot episode and then the 10th episode (which is one of my absolute favorites of the series). So, if you haven't watched that, definitely check it out. I think you can watch the 1st and then the 10th without being too totally confused. If you haven't watched either, well... I don't know. Check out the pilot of VM and then the second two episodes of Arrested Development, or something. They're both awesome shows, though, and need more viewers.

My shoulder is still sore. =/ I've looked up a bunch of stuff and most of the official-type websites say the side affects should only last for 2 days, 3 at most. However, other places, like... message boards and stuff? Where, like, people have actually gone through what I'm going through, they say that it was really bad for 3 or 4 days and after a week it started to get better. Of course those also freaked me out, since there were a couple people where it'd be like... their whole arm would be in intense pain and then go numb and they've never been able to get full use out of it, and yeah. Freaky. Mine's not that bad. Actually, it's fine in the morning. Like, if I press the area, it hurts, but... it's fine if I don't touch it. But then it gets progressively worse and by the time I go to bed, it's pretty painful. If it's not better in a week, I'll ask my mom to call my doctor about it.

X Games 2 weeks from today. How insane. Oh, but Annie said she can only go to the Friday event, not the Saturday one. So, Tiffany, Lulu? Either of you want to go? Or anyone else I know? I just figure Tiffany and Lulu are most likely to be interested in it. I could be wrong about that. But yeah. Let me know. Oh, also, anyone want to go to Spectrum tomorrow? I'll be going by myself to get the summer reading books and possibly a CD, but it'd be more fun to spend the afternoon there with friends then just... go, get what I want, and leave.

Stolen from a bunch of people:
Casting Call

I think it's inevitable that as we read each other's journals we create mental pictures of each other. Post this on your own journal to find out who your friends see when they read about your life.

Two Rules:
1. The person must be in the movies or on TV (but doesn't have to be an actor/actress). The person can be specific to a role (e.g. Jennifer Elhe's Elizabeth Bennet) or just the person themself.
2. You have to post a link to a picture of said person in the comments.

These castings can be based on things in the person's personality or on physical traits you know they have.

Do it even if you know what I look like. :)
brokenrecord: (Default)
!! omg. I just convinced my mom to buy me tickets for both X Games Skateboard Vert and Skateboard Best Trick. This is so amazing. :DDD Um, yeah, I haven't talked about this before here, but I totally love the X Games and Gravity Games (X Games are superior, though) and everything like it. I don't know why it is, but I find it totally awesome to watch, and I go insane about it every year. And they're in L.A. this year, once again, so it's actually feasible for me to go! My mom was a little annoyed about it being in L.A. because while it isn't so far that it's impossible, it is a hassle to drive there and back, especially twice in a row (one is on a Friday, the other is the next day). Last year I got free tickets to the skateboard Big Air which was totally awesome, but this is even better, because Skateboard Vert and Best Trick are my favorite events. eee I'm so excited for this. I told myself earlier that I had to definitely find out about tickets in advance and get them (I didn't last year, it was a total last minute thing where a friend of the family who works for KROQ found out I liked the X Games and said she could get me 2 free tickets), but I didn't think I'd actually manage it. Now I just have to make sure Annie is free to go on August 5th and 6th (if you're not, I will kill you >:O). Or if Annie can't go to one or both dates, find someone else who would want to (Tiffany? Lulu? Anyone?). This is going to rock so much. :D

Anyways. Uh. I think more people should comment here and tell me stuff to photograph. Anything at all, really. It can be totally random. I'll post the pictures Friday night or Saturday, since I'll be able to photograph everything by then.

Oh, also, I edited the post with the lyrics meme with the answers since I didn't think anyone else would guess any. So if there were any you thought you should've known (or ones I know you should have known, coughTiffanycough), then you can go check.

Lastly, stealing a meme from [livejournal.com profile] cristi_is_here:
I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so... she likes office supplies."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.

Ok, off to tackle book 5. Only 3 days (provided it arrives when Barnes and Noble claims it will)! Insanity.
