Non-icon post. Spoilers if you haven't seen the latest episode of Charmed ["Extreme Makeover: World Edition"].
Good episode, especially compared to most of those this season. Or the past few seasons, for that matter. I like where the Avatar storyline is going, though I would've prefered it dragged out just a bit more. Seems kind of sudden to me, like one second they're finally accepting that the Avatars are a change for the good, and the next, the world's being changed into Utopia. I'm betting that it'll probably be rushed and not last very many episodes, which disappoints me. I'm also finding that I'm enjoying the demon Zankou a lot. I usually prefer demons that last several episodes [or longer] to the demon/threat of the week that's defeated the episode it's introduced.
Liked the death scene with Brody. Rose hasn't been acting as well as she's capable of recently, but I thought she did a very nice job with that scene. Glad Brody's dead, though.
Two quibbles. First of all, don't quite understand how the cars that were moving came to a stop when the sleeping spell went into effect. Or what happened to people who were choking, skydiving, swimming, etc., but the cars came to mind first since they actually showed them coming to a stop. I guess you could fanwank that the Avatars took care of it, as one of them said when they were questioned about pilots flying planes and stuff, but it still bothers me. Also, I don't get why Beta couldn't have just frozen the vial/Brody. Seems like characters that are able to freeze things tend to forget they are able to when they really need it. Or when the writers need to contrive something, such as why the Avatars would speed up the process and put the sisters under the spell before they said they would.
All in all, very nice episode. Hopefully the season will continue along this track, though I'm not very optimistic. I try not to get my hopes up for this show, considering as more often than not, it lets me down. Still, for once I'm actually very interested in where things are going, which I haven't been able to say about Charmed in awhile.
