Veronica Mars squee-age. Like I couldn't not talk about this episode.

Major spoilers for episode 21, "A Trip to the Dentist".

How much do I love Rob Thomas for actually making Duncan the rapist? I mean, I know it wasn't rape in the sense that Veronica thought it was rape (though under California state law, if you're under the influence then you can't give consent, so technically it still was rape), but that's still awesome. I read a bunch of theories and I always thought the ones involving this situation were the most realistic. I just never thought it would actually be him. I love how it turned out, though. And that scene between Duncan and Veronica when she confronted him was just... intense. Beautifully acted by both. Just... gah. No words.

Yay for Logan/Veronica, except the end with the video tapes made me feel dirty for ever liking Logan. Then again, there was an explanation for the GHB, so I'm hoping there's a perfectly reasonable, totally non-creepy explanation for the video cameras. Innocent until proven guilty, right? God, I hope so. I knew that if things were all happy between them by the middle of the episode, it would come crashing down for one reason or another at the end. Rob Thomas has become very reliable that way.

I love the return of all the 09ers for this episode. Freaking awesome. And I love how all the recounts of the night of the party were different. Even the small touch of the difference between Sean and Beaver's accounts of who threw the condom onto the bed and said "You don't know where she's (that's?) been." Totally awesome.

gah, I can't collect my thoughts on this episode. Too much was going on in it (in a good way, though).

I adored the Wallace/Veronica scene in his bedroom. I'm so happy he wasn't furious at Veronica for bugging Wiedman's office, and I love how supportive he was to Veronica. And Veronica showing the files to him? Awwwwwww.

The scene outing Veronica and Logan was awesome. I knew it was coming (blah, I hate being accidentally spoiled), but it was still fantastic. And (paraphrased horribly) "If anyone has a problem with my girlfriend, you can leave." He called her his girlfriend! ...but still with the "ew, creepy" to the video cameras. Provided they're his doing, and not Aaron's.

The more I think about it, the more it doesn't make very much sense. I mean, we've seen him in the pool house before, but he doesn't sleep there, I wouldn't think. He has his own room in the house. Also, when did he set those up? While Veronica was talking to Madison and Meg? ...actually, that could work. Damnit. But on this show, nothing is ever what it seems. If they're setting it up as if Logan was trying to videotape them, there's no chance in hell it actually was him. Or at least that's what I'll let myself believe until next Tuesday.

Man, what else is there to say, other then this is the best fucking show ever? Kristen Bell is simply amazing. All of the cast are. Even Teddy Dunn, who hasn't really shone in the past, gave a fantastic performance tonight. God, I love this show.

If you're not watching Veronica Mars, you're definitely missing out.

I'm starting to think I should watch, everyone goes gaga over it... No idea what day, time or channel, though, lol. And, as you say, it's on #21, so my timing is just a tad off...

It's on Tuesday's at 9 pm on UPN. You definitely should watch it, but yeah, probably not next week, seeing as all the remaining mysteries will be revealed, and it'd spoil the beginning of the season for you. DVDs for the first season will be coming out before the second one starts, though, so I'd definitely suggest purchasing them. It's an absolutely fabulous show, I totally recommend watching it.

Yay for Veronica Mars fans! :D

Aw, that sucks. Hee, sorry for getting you all excited, but it really is a fantastic episode. This show is just so awesome.

the duncan/veronica scene had me breathless!
&teddy dunn! who knew? fault of his bland-er character, i think, not a lack of skill (as we can see).
woah.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/brokenrecord__/ 2005-05-04 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too! I knew that he would say "Because you're my sister!" but it still left me breathless. I started tearing up the second Veronica arrived at his door. The scene was too perfect.

Heh, I know! I'm thinking it was probably intentional that he was bland earlier this season, since he was on his meds throughout it, and they subdued his feelings/emotions. He was off his meds when he first ran away, since Celeste told him next time he decided to run off he should remember to bring them, so I'm thinking he might have stayed off them even after returning. In any case, Teddy Dunn definitely has great acting skill.

I was the only idiot laughing and squealing at half the scenes today, simply cause I just found it all so twisted and HILARIOUS. I mean I actually thought it was Duncan long ago, but him finally yelling out "BECAUSE YOU'RE MY SISTER!" was just such *GASP*-provoking scene, I just had to laugh. Especially when Logan and Veronica were outed; jeebus that was INSANE. And omg, I agree about the end. Why'd he take her to the pool house?! I still found it hilarious though.

Never trust a boy that says "trust me".

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/brokenrecord__/ 2005-05-04 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I definitely cracked up when Logan and Veronica were outed. I even knew that they were going to be outed, yet I still gasped and then started completely cracking up.

And I know, the second he said "Trust me," and she said "I do," I was thinking "Man, you're totally going to be eating your words in a minute, aren't you?"

Word! The only way to fully enjoy life is to watch this show ;)

I realized after watching the episode a few times that the television wasn't one, and the cameras probably weren't even recording in the pool house at the time. I also don't think he set them up. I think it was an honest, abiet unfortunate, mistake on Logan's part. When will this boy learn to just take her to his bedroom?

Hee, I loved the reveal to the 09ers as well :) I love when we see characters in the background that have been used in past episodes.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/brokenrecord__/ 2005-05-04 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. That's so very true.

Yeah, I've been reading other people's posts about the episode and saw that other people had noted that the television wasn't on. I'm hoping... well, actually there's a number of scenarios I can see working out: A) Aaron installed them to videotape himself sleeping with other women (ew), B) Lynn installed them hoping to catch Aaron sleeping with other women, C) Aaron and Lynn had them installed in the poolhouse and everywhere in the main house for security after he was stabbed at the Christmas party, D) Logan somehow got them installed (asked his parents, I guess?) after the Christmas party to prevent people from stealing the money in the poker games like Sean did, E) Logan knew about them/had them installed when he was Lilly because they liked taping themselves fooling around, but had no intention of doing so without Veronica's permission.

Heh. I think it's pretty clear what I've been thinking about all day long.

The reused 09ers are just another thing that make me absolutely love this show. I can't think of a show that reuses background characters as much as Veronica Mars does. It makes everything so much more realistic.

(here through a question in [livejournal.com profile] icon_tutorial, but totally unrelated)

... though under California state law, if you're under the influence then you can't give consent, so technically it still was rape

Does this mean that they're both technically the victim and the perpetrator? If it was consensual (as much as it could be), then they both initiated it, therefore they could both be put in that position...

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/brokenrecord__/ 2005-05-08 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
From what I understand, yes. It's a crime with no criminals, I suppose. Or they're both the criminals. Or the people that drugged them are the criminals. It's a very complicated situation.

[identity profile] wtfbrain.livejournal.com 2005-05-08 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
You know, I never thought of it that way... I did think it was Duncan in one capacity or another, but I never considered the implications this might carry...

Is it Tuesday yet?

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/brokenrecord__/ 2005-05-08 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
It's bizarre to think that, under California state law, Veronica raped Duncan. And, at the same time, he raped her.

Heh. "Is it Tuesday yet?" has totally become my mantra. Sad to think that after this Tuesday, it's going to be a hell of a lot more Tuesdays before the next new episode.

[identity profile] tasheila.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm the only one who watches it here. Then I will laugh at the bandwagon-ers when it gets hot, like The OC and all everyone could do was talk about it.
