In honor of The O.C. ending, I decided to do a picspam of my favorite moments. This was going to be 20, and then it was going to be 25, and after that I just kind of gave up trying to limit it. I was also going to limit this to only one moment per episode, but I just couldn't decide between some of them, so I gave up on that, too. What resulted was this ridiculously long picspam. Dial-up users, beware.
This isn't really in any order, but the moments I like more tend to be on the bottom and I like the ones at the top a little less. But obviously I love all these moments.
The Aftermath (3.01)

In the middle of dealing with Trey's shooting, Seth, Summer, Ryan, and Marissa go to the beach. I like this moment... well, for a lot of reasons. Mostly because that's totally me and my friends there. I mean, I know in the pictures I posted last May from Richard's surprise birthday party at the beach included many of people picking each other up and just being silly. The Aftermath was a really serious, dark episode, but I just thought this was a nice moment, where all the characters could just act like kids again for a little while and forget about everything else.
The Escape (1.07)

Seth: Well, you did agree to take this little trip down to Mexico.
Summer: I needed a ride.
Seth: We shared the same bed.
Summer: I wasn't going to sleep on the couch, it smelled like eggs.
Seth: You ate my toast, Summer.
Summer: I like crusts, Seth.
Seth: Face it, our chemistry is undeniable.
The Model Home (1.02)

Ryan, Seth, and Marissa ride down the pier. I like this moment pretty much why I like the beach scene in The Avengers. Instead of worrying about all the really awful parts of their lives, they're just acting like kids and having fun. It's just a nice, happy moment.
The OSea (2.23)

Seth: Ok, I know I'm not who you all imagined as prom king, seeing as how I'm not who any of you actually voted for but she's the queen, and I love her... so I guess that makes me king.
Summer: Cohen.
Seth: No, I'm just the guy standing next to you, you're the queen. All right, I'm the jester, perhaps, if that works. So let me ask you this, your highness: what can I do to make it up to you?
Summer: Well, you can start by dancing with me.
The Groundhog Day (4.12)

Taylor attempts to cut Ryan out of her life (temporarily), but Ryan isn't having any of it. Ryan here is kind of the most adorable thing ever. I loved this entire scene, with all the puppy-dog looks Ryan was giving Taylor and how she was trying to do her best not to look at him. So cute.
The My Two Dads (4.09)

One of my absolute favorite things about the show is the family bond between the Cohens and Ryan, and I loved after Frank left and Sandy was apologizing, Ryan said something like "My dad is right here." And then this scene at the end, with them all together. Just a really nice moment.
The Sleeping Beauty (4.05)

Summer: Seth, you still love me right?
Seth: Of course I do. What's going on?
Summer: Well...I got a rabbit.
Seth: You did? What's its name? Wait, let me guess. Is it Cyclatron?
Summer: [giggles] No.
Seth: Are you lying? Oh. Is it Gorgon, the destroyer of carrots?
Summer: No.
Seth: Is it Larry?
Summer: Larry? [looks at Pancakes] You're not Larry.
I just thought this whole exchange and then after when they've talked for hours was just really sweet. They'd been kind of rocky for a few episodes, but they were good here, and it reminded me why I shipped them so hard in season 1.
The Earth Girls Are Easy (4.08)

Seth: We're both adults, we don't share DNA... You just have to want to. I do.
Seth proposes to Summer. I know it got all awkward after they looked at the test, but I still found Seth's proposal very sweet.
The Countdown (1.14)

Sandy: You're right, we do need to take more chances. The GPS lady says turn left. I'm going right.
Kirsten: Sandy, don't.
Sandy: No, no, you can’t stop me, no one can. Hang on, here we go!
GPS Lady: When possible please make a U turn.
Sandy: No, no, I won't! I will not!
Kirsten: Sandy, please.
Sandy: Oh, baby, we're living on the edge, honey, we're living on the edge! Woohoo!
Kirsten: We're not living on the edge, we're getting lost! Would you just listen to the GPS lady?
GPS Lady: When possible please make a U turn.
Sandy: Oh, thank god, cause y'know, I hate to defy the GPS lady, because she gets so cross.
Hee. I loved Sandy and Kirsten in season 1, and this exchange was totally hilarious. My dad loves to defy the GPS lady. I think sometimes he just turns it on so he can do the opposite of what it tells him.
The Proposal (1.24)

Summer: Was I really mean to you?
Seth: No, that would've required you to speak to me. For anyone to speak to me.
Aw, Seth. I loved season 1 Seth, and I loved Summer realizing that she had hurt him even though she didn't know it, and how sorry she looks about it.
The Distance (2.01)

Seth and Ryan come home. Most of season 2 I didn't like, but I thought it started off very well. I loved the end of this episode, with Seth and Ryan coming home. So sweet.
The Chrismakk-Huh? (4.07)

Ryan and Taylor have both woken up from their comas, and everyone is at the hospital. I love how everyone is together and happy. It's just a nice moment. And Ryan puts his arm around Taylor! I love them.
The End's Not Near, It's Here (4.16)

Julie: Summer, you're a great girl. The world deserves to know you. You deserve it too. Don't settle for comfortable.
I love the Summer and Julie relationship in this episode. Her real mom I don't think was around very long (I forget, did we ever find out if she died when Summer was young, or if she just left? I remember it being she left, but I think I'm also confusing it with what I've read in fanfic) and her stepmother didn't seem like she ever gave a lot of attention to Summer, so it's nice that Julie can act like a mother to her.
The Girlfriend (1.06)

Seth: Listen to me. The point is that that guy doesn't know you, he doesn’t care about who you really are. He has no idea that every day of 3rd grade you shared your lunch with that little skinny squirrel that kept getting his nuts stolen by that fat squirrel.
Summer: I hated that mean squirrel!
Seth finally actually stands up to Summer for once, and she kisses him.
The Pilot (1.01)

Seth: Oh, looks like someone's trying to be a hero but you got a little cocky. X O, X O it's an unbeatable combination. Oh, oh, OH! What happened to your head, dude? Where did it go? I'm sorry did someone die? Oh, hey, do you want to play Grand Theft Auto? It's pretty cool, you can like, steal cars ... Not that that's cool. Or uncool, I don't know.
Seth and Ryan meet for the first time. I love how quickly Seth and Ryan became friends, and how Seth doesn't judge Ryan at all and how Ryan looks past Seth's weirdness and genuinely likes him.
The Perfect Couple (1.10)

Summer: I like Seth Cohen.
Seth: You, you what now?
Summer: Nothing. I wasn't talking to you. But if you tell anyone what you heard here, I'll kill you.
The Summer Bummer (4.06)

Taylor: So what if I rented a homosexual for the evening? ...And paid him with rare collectibles from Asian cinema?
Taylor admits to her scheme to get Ryan jealous, and the two agree to casual dating. They immediately head off to the closet forseven many minutes in heaven.
The Graduates (3.25)

Marrisa dies. I never liked Marissa, but this scene was still very sad.
The Telenovela (1.20)

Seth: Yes, Brad, she’s dating this emo geek. Yeah, that’s right, I’m a big dork and I listen to emo and I’m dating her.
Summer: Why are you doing this?
Seth: Because, Summer, I like you, this much, and if you don’t feel the same way about me then... someone’s going to have to give me a hand down because it's really high up here, and I could fall, and that would be embarrassing. More embarrassing.
Seth declares his love for Summer publicly.
The Metamorphosis (4.04)

Ryan and Taylor's first kiss. You have no idea how much I squee-ed when this happened. That was one hot kiss.
The Heartbreak (1.19)

Summer: You are so cheesy, Cohen.
Seth: Come on, I'm sweeping you off your feet.
Summer: Well, the sad part is... you kind of are.
The Sleeping Beauty (4.05)

Taylor: What, for the longest time all you could feel was your desire to kill Volchok, and now that's gone so you feel empty. You can't feel anything, least of all anything for me.
Ryan: How do you keep doing that?
Taylor: Doing what?
Ryan: That. You telling me what I'm thinking before I feel it.
Taylor: Because I think about you. I want you to be happy, and I think if you gave it a chance, you might feel something too.
Ryan and Taylor dance. Then, when Ryan goes to get a drink for her, Taylor overhears him say he doesn't want to date her. She runs off, he follows, and Taylor reads his mind. (Well, basically.) I loved this sequence of scenes. They're so good together.
The Secrets and Lies (3.19)

Kirsten: Thank you, all of you, and, uh, especially my son Seth, who's here with me tonight.
Everyone: Hi Seth.
Seth: [smiles uncomfortably] Hey.
Kirsten: He doesn’t know this but... he's the reason that I got sober. The look on his face at my intervention... he was so disappointed in me. But he believed that I could do this, and he was right.
The End's Not Near, It's Here (4.16)

Ryan: I think what's really important is what's already happened, which is this year. Thank you, Taylor. You, uh, you saved me.
This scene convinces me that in the very end, when Ryan's leaving work, he's totally coming home to Taylor. It's clear how much they love each other, and while the ending was ambiguous, I'm fully convinced that they do end up together.
The Gringos (4.02)

Ryan refuses to talk to Seth. Oh, man. The Seth/Ryan friendship is one of the main reasons I fell in love with this show back in season 1, and this was just... painful. I'm sorry that they didn't go into it further in the third episode, but this moment is still just really sad.
The Cold Turkey (4.03)

Julie: Tell me about her.
Julie and Ryan end the pursuit of Volchok, and Julie sits down with Ryan to hear stories about Marissa, finally dealing with her death.
The Dearly Beloved (2.24)

Marissa shoots Trey. Never saw that coming. Unfortunately, I didn't really like the fallout in the beginning of season 3, but it's still a really amazing moment.
The Chrismukkah That Almost Wasn't (2.06)

Kirsten finds out her father had a child with a woman that wasn't her mother and throws a vase at him. Kelly Rowan absolutely killed me in this scene.
The Dearly Beloved (2.24)

Seth: Mom, please. You've got to do this.
Everyone confronts Kirsten about her alcoholism, and Seth finally convinces her to get help.
The Shake-Up (4.14)

Taylor: But if I can't get you drunk, you'll never tell me you love me.
Ryan: Oh, Taylor.
Taylor: I know, I know, bad Taylor. I shouldn't have tried to get you drunk, just like I shouldn't have pretended to be your sleep therapist, or rented Roger the homosexual, or stalked you wearing a groundhog costume, or... what else did I do?
Ryan: [smiling] I think that's it.
Taylor: I'm going to go to sleep now. Goodbye Ryan. It was nice.
Ryan: Taylor. Taaaylor. ...Are you pretending to go to sleep thinking I'll tell you I love you while you're unconscious?
Taylor: Maybe. You're laughing at me!
Ryan: I'm not!
Taylor: It's hard dating someone who doesn't tell you how they feel and always having to interpret handsqueezes and--
Ryan: I love you.
The Pilot (1.01)

Sandy: Come on. Let's go.
Ryan and Sandy return to Ryan's house and his mother is gone. So heartbreaking. She left him a note! This moment killed me.
The Night Moves (4.15)

Sandy: Excuse me, doctor? My wife would never complain, she would never put her needs in front of anybody else's, but I am not that proud, I am not that selfless. I am begging you, please, please, to give her and our baby priority.
Oh, man, Sandy killed me here. That little girl is going to be so completely loved and protected.
The End's Not Near, It's Here (4.16)

Summer leaves Newport to go save the world. This was all just so sad, but at the same time awesome. Summer hugs Ryan! (I never shipped them, but I did really want them to go more in-depth into their friendship, or at least have a few more scenes with just the two of them.) And Taylor telling Summer she was her only girlfriend, or something like that, was just so sad but so sweet. And Seth and Summer. Aw. Summer was my favorite character for a very long time, and she still is one of my absolute favorites. It was sad to see her leave. (On an entirely different note, Ryan holding a baby bunny is quite possibly the most adorable thing in the universe.)
The Shake-Up (4.14)

An earthquake tears up Newport.
The Gamble (1.03)

Ryan's mother leaves him again. Ryan's confusion, then quick realization, and little wave to his mother gets me every time.
The Night Moves (4.15)

Seth: The doctor said you're going to be fine, although you're going to have to wrap your head around the fact that we're really brothers now. Or, blood brothers.
Ryan: You donated blood.
Seth: Eh, I had an extra few pints flowing through my veins. It was no big deal.
Ryan: You're not a big fan of needles.
Seth: Nor of fainting, it turns out. But the bank was a little low, and us O-negative guys got to stick together.
Ryan: That's weird, 'cause all of the sudden I have this strange urge to listen to Death Cab and read comic books.
Seth: Really?
Ryan: No, I'm kidding.
Seth: Ah, that's too bad, 'cause if we could've turned this into a body-swap comedy, we could've squeezed another year or two out of this.
Ryan: So, listen, I don't know if I've said this at all today, but--
Seth: You did. But after all the times you saved me I was up, so.
A glass shard gets stuck Ryan's side after the earthquake. Seth rushes him in a car to the hospital, tries to change a flat tire and keep Ryan's mind off his injury (failing miserably at both), helps Ryan walk to the hospital from where they are (because neither wants to leave the other alone), and then, when Ryan can't walk any further, runs as fast as he can, trades in a $70,000 car for a shopping cart to bring back to Ryan and rush him to the hospital (luckily he gets picked up by Ryan's dad, Julie, and Kaitlin on the way back). Then, at the hospital, he donates blood and he and Ryan become blood brothers. Just... gah. Everything Seth and Ryan in this episode killed me. This is why I fell in love with this show in the first place.
The Ties that Bind (1.27)

Ryan leaves, Marissa drinks, Kirsten cries, and Seth sails away. It was all incredibly heart-wrenching, but Kirsten was who really killed me. How she went into Ryan's room and picked up the sheets, and just lost it. Oh, poor Kirsten.
The End's Not Near, It's Here (4.16)

The characters all leave Newport and we see how things turn out for them. I'm glad we got to see into the futures of the characters. I loved everything we saw. Sandy being a professor (it's so perfect!), Julie getting her degree, Kaitlin at Williams, Seth and Summer each following their passions, Seth and Summer getting married, Ryan and Taylor totally eyefucking at their wedding, Ryan being an architect. It was perfection.
