My bad mood from Tuesday or Wednesday or whatever continued for a few days and I was going to make a post about things I was feeling bitchy about, but today was actually really great and it kind of bodes well for the rest of the semester, so now I'm going to make a post about things I'm feeling bitchy about and things that are making me happy:
The Bad Stuff:
1. So I have a lot of pairs of shoes, but they're basically all Converse and sandals which don't work well in sub-zero temperatures when there's snow on the ground. I have one pair of shoes I wear basically all through winter that are warm and work well in both the snow and rain (they're water-proof or water-resistant or something). When I first got them, they kind of dug at the back of... my Achille's tendon? I think that's where it is? It's like, above the heel, the back of your ankle? Anyways, they bothered me for a little while, but then I got used to them or something and they were fine all last winter and last semester. However, all of a sudden now, they're digging in the same spot really badly. I took off my socks a few days ago and found dried blood in that spot on my socks. And since then I've gotten blood on too other socks. I really should just wear the same sock on that foot (it's really just one of my feet; the other one irritates it but doesn't cause bleeding) so I don't keep staining socks. It's really irritating me, though, and I have no idea what to do. I just keep hoping that I'll get used to the shoes again. I was going to put a band-aid on it, but I keep forgetting to buy some. I was just in the campus store actually half an hour ago and totally forgot, which is stupid of me. But it's like... I have no other shoes to wear unless I want my feet to freeze and get wet and for me to slip around on the ground (Converse are so much slippier than these shoes). blah.
2. I've been kind of bored this week because there's been no new TV. Why has there been so little new stuff this week?! It's basically just been an hour of new stuff every night: House on Monday, Scrubs on Tuesday, Lost on Wednesday, Supernatural on Thursday. At least tonight there's Psych and BSG. It irritates me, though, because, as I said, I've been bored, and this will definitely be my least busy week of the semester. I bet I'll have loads of stuff every night once the semester starts getting really busy. blah.
3. Adding on to the previous point, I've been bored but I didn't take any books or DVDs with me since I didn't have room in my suitcase. My mom was going to send them and I've been checking the mail every day and today I got a package and was really excited it would my books and DVDs, but when I got it, it was just this planner I bought on-line which I don't even really need anymore. Then I got back to my room and found my mom had sent me an e-mail saying basically "I've noticed you wanted me to send you a lot of books. Do you really want me to send them all, because I don't think you'll be able to get through them all before spring break. It seems silly to send them all if you'll only get through one or two books and then we'll just have to ship them back." ugh! I've been waiting all week for these books because I assumed she sent them Monday, but no! And I don't know why she's asking me this now because we've totally been e-mailing all week, so she could have brought it up on Sunday or Monday! So I've been waiting all week for books and DVDs that haven't even been sent yet. bah. Anyway, I basically had to explain that no, I would probably only read 2-3 books by spring break, possibly all semester even, but that I get in different moods for different books and I'd like them all to be here and not just one or two because I don't know what I'll be in the mood for in 3-4 weeks. I was into classics for a long time, but now I'm really in the mood for contemporary stuff. It's irritating, though, because I know that I won't get them for at least another week, now, and by then I'm going to start having tests and more major homework assignments and I wanted that stuff this week, or at the very least this weekend, and I don't understand why she couldn't have just brought this up 5 days ago.
4. I think I'm getting sick. :( I had a sore throat when I went to sleep last night and when I woke up this morning, and I've been sneezing a bit. I guess it's better that it happens at the beginning of the semester than when things get busy. I'm actually feeling much better this afternoon, though, so maybe it went away? Hopefully?
The Good Stuff:
1. It got warmer today! It was frigid yesterday, especially. It was really cruel because it was claiming to be 16 degrees, but with the windchill it felt like -9 or so. Today it's supposedly a bit colder (around 14 degrees) but it actually feels like 1 or 2 degrees, which actually does feel warm to me. And tomorrow it's supposed to be a high of 34! That's above freezing! Of course, it'll probably feel colder, but whatever, that's still ridiculous warm for January in Minnesota.
2. A good friend of mine from Multivariable Calc I thought was going to be in two of my classes this semester but then she wasn't there Monday or Wednesday so I was disappointed. But then she sent me an e-mail asking me for the notes for Differential Calc because she decided she definitely wanted to take it (she was just shopping around in different classes to figure out what she wanted to take) and then she showed up to the other class, Multivariate Stats, and told me she's definitely taking that class, too. So that was something making me feel a little disappointed, but now it's all better.
3. I was kind of getting scared of Multivariate Stats because we're going to be working loads with this stats program called R which I'm totally unfamiliar with (we worked with SPSS in psych, which is way more... obvious, I guess, and easy-to-use), so I was kind of getting lost on Wednesday. And today was a little difficult at first, but I'm way more confident about it now after class today. I'm doing much better with it. It just took a lot of getting used to.
4. Supernatural was really awesome last night! Actually, Lost was really great, too. I love Desmond and Farraday episodes.
5. It's Friday! I feel like I've been waiting for Friday forever, seriously. It's totally not even just me. I talked to like at least 3 people about this today. Everyone's been like "OMG YES WEEKEND, THIS WEEK HAS BEEN SO LONG!" This doesn't really bode well, actually, considering there are still 15 or so weeks left in the semester. But I feel like the first week often feels like the longest just because it takes getting used to the new schedule and having to actually do work again for the first time in over a month and all of that. Hopefully next week will pass faster.
6. I was not looking forward to the new conductor in Wind Ensemble, but he's really cool. For some reason I was expecting him to be old, but he's really young. I'd be surprised if he were over 29. And we played a medley of Beatles songs, which is cool and I'm kind of hoping we play. One of the songs in the medley is "Michelle" (which is my name, if you didn't know) which is fun. My mom and dad used to sing that to me when I was a kid because The Beatles are their favorite band ever.
I randomly feel like watching old Supernatural episodes. Mostly season 2, which is the only season I have on DVD and I haven't even watched it yet (I got it for Christmas). I also feel like watching season 1, though. And season 3, kind of. Ok, so I guess I just want to marathon it all! We'll see, though. I'm going to spend this afternoon cleaning my room (it is so ridiculously messy. It was a mess when I left and it's just gotten worse since I've been back) and then I don't know what.
