Finally! The photo meme! Image-heavy (obviously).

dorm

Um, when I was taking pictures I realized I didn't know if you meant the dorm building or my dorm room. So here's my dorm building, and the rest are pictures of my dorm room.

favorite place on campus

The library! I'm totally a dork, I'm aware. But whatever, I like going to do work in the library. Primarily because when I do it in the library, I actually get it done, unlike in my room. But, I don't know. I just like it. I probably like my room more than the library, but I already posted pictures of that, so yeah.

view from window

...there wasn't really any reason to take three, other than I wanted to contrast how nice and not snow-filled it was last week, and then the snow from Monday. But I didn't really need that second one. Oh well. There's a screen on the window that you can't take off so that's why they look all... like they do. Also, the shade is down in the last one because I don't know how to work the shades (every time I try to pull them up, I just make them go down more) and my roommate wasn't in the room to fix it for me.

desk

Desk!

favorite pair of shoes

delicious dessert

Fail! I realized I hadn't gotten a picture of a delicious dessert when I was uploading the photos, so I took a picture of girl scout cookies that have been on my roommate's desk for like a month. I don't even like this kind, since I hate coconut (eating coconut feels like eating paper. I have textural issues with it). But oh well. Closest I could come.

Minnesota skyline

Um, kind of. It's a picture of some buildings in Minneapolis that I took last August when I first arrived.

something ugly

So I got this Finals Care Package from my parents last December which like... the school put out for fundraising or something. Anyways, it had reasonable things like ramen and Pepsi and candy and a pencil and a pen and stuff, and then it had this, and I still have NO IDEA WHY. HOW CAN THIS POSSIBLY HELP WITH FINALS? I think it's supposed to amuse me to relieve my stress, but... WHAT? WHAT IS IT? WHAT DOES IT DO? (Answer: NOTHING. It's slightly bendy, but you can't make it DO anything. It's just kind of... there.)

something dull

My clothes rack. I tend to wear grey, navy blue, and black a lot. I've expanded from my clothes of a year ago! Just... still not very much. There are a few random bits of color, though!

something colorful

I didn't feeel like deciding on one, so I didn't! The last one is a picture of my roommate's Buddhist prayer flags she has up. She's not a Buddhist so I'm not really sure why she has them but... they look pretty, and are colorful!

progression of color

...um. I realized when I was taking pictures that I didn't know what you meant by progression in color. So... here's a picture of my colored pens all organized in my desk! Hopefully that's somewhat close to what you meant, and if not... oh well.

full trashbin

It's not quite full. (I REALLY FAIL AT TAKING THE PICTURES YOU REQUESTED, OBVIOUSLY.)

all shoes lined up

All my shoes don't live together! This was the closest I could do. The pale blue and normal blue flip-flops at the left of the bottom photo are SO COMFORTABLE OMG. 2 for $5 at Old Navy ftw! I had been using crappy $10 sandals from Payless when showering before and I saw those on break and they were so cheap and I can't resist sales so I got them and they are so ridiculously comfortable and way better than the Payless sandals for showering. I love them so much. Especially the pale blue ones, because they're pretty.

smile

My smile! And the rest of my face.

natural body of water

...um. You didn't specify it had to be liquid water. I was going to walk down to the Mississippi River, but that's like a 1.5-2 hour total walk, there and back, and I didn't have that time. So... snow!

artificial body of water

Sink!

Things I failed at: quaint coffeehouse (...there's only a Starbucks and Dunn Brothers anywhere near me. :( Sorry.), pretty mug of coffe (see previous note), bottle of alcohol (HA I SOMEHOW TOTALLY DID NOT SEE THIS ITEM UNTIL THIS VERY SECOND WHEN I WAS GOING THROUGH EVERYTHING MAKING SURE I DIDN'T MISS ANYTHING. WHICH I CLEARLY DID. UGH. This would have been really easy, too, since my roommate had a bunch of vodka in her fridge for like two weeks. Oh well. I seriously have no idea how I missed this. x___x Are you getting the sense at how much I epically failed at taking pictures of things you requested?), children playing (there are no children anywhere near campus. Seriously. I don't know where I'd find any), a couple in love (when I was taking photos, it was like ridiculously cold outside. So there weren't many people lingering around. And I didn't see anyone who looked in love. Sorry. :( )

[livejournal.com profile] xfellx:

something purple

A copy of Villette by Charlotte Bronte, which I got last October and... still haven't read. Much like the majority of the books on that shelf. The only ones there I have read are... just The Kite Runner, actually. There are some more to the right that I have read, though. And that's a very, very small sample of the amount of books I own. I just only have two shelves at school for books, so I don't have many here (and the bottom shelf holds school books, anyways).

favorite place to sit

(I already posted a picture of here, but oh well. Here's another!) I spend like 95% of my time here. I mean, this is where my computer, books, DVDs, pens, paper, etc. are. What more could I want? The chair is really comfortable, too. I got it at Target for super cheap and it didn't look like it'd be very comfortable, but it's like 1000 times more comfortable then the chairs the school provides (which look pretty comfortable) and it folds up nicely when I need to pack it.

favorite pair of socks

I happened to be wearing them while taking the photos! It's kind of impossible to tell the colors on the sock. Stupid flash. Oh well. I'm bitter about these socks, though, because I got them in January and have worn them like... 6 times maybe and there are already holes in the heels.

anything else random

I'm using this to post some random photos of myself, of squirrels, and of campus!

Pictures of me (with bonus bird)! I took several photos of me trying to do the smile picture for Soan. The one I liked best I posted for that, but here are a few others I kind of liked (plus, I like posting pictures that include my birds).

Squirrel in tree! This squirrel was like... a million feet up (slight exaggeration) and on the thinnest branch ever and I stood under it for like 5 minutes expecting it to fall off, but it didn't. Squirrels are crazy.

Random squirrel! There are so many squirrels here. In CA, it's all rabbits and the occasional coyote, but here it's all about the squirrels.

An administration building and this bell we have on campus.

The chapel on campus. Well, chapel and building for all other religions. I think it looks kind of cool.

Olin-Rice, the science building, where I've had 6/8 classes. Including English, which... makes no sense.

The athletic center that's being built. Supposedly it'll be done by the fall, but it's like half done and they've been working on it for over a year now, so... I'm not optimistic about that.

The music/fine arts building and some of the parking lot. Exciting!

Ooooh awesome picture taking skills! Especially with the water faucet! :D Also, that Minneapolis picture makes me so nostalgic :( I miss living there a lot. Also, your school is very perdy! Also, I like all your shoes. Also, I keep saying also. Also, I really like your shirt & your fave socks!!

..........Also.

Thank you! I don't think I'm an amazing photographer, or anything, but there were a couple of shots I took that I really liked, like the water faucet.

Yay pictures! Your campus is really pretty. And the beds in your room are super-lofted! How many times have you hit your head on the ceiling?

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/brokenrecord__/ 2008-04-06 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It is a pretty campus! It's even prettier when it's all snow-covered (especially Monday/Tuesday, after it snowed really hard, because there was snow everywhere, like on all the tree branches all day, and such), but it's usually too cold when it's like that for me to take pictures. Ugh, I've hit my head on the ceiling WAY too many times. It was especially bad the first couple of nights here, when I was still getting used to it, and I do it much less, but I did actually hit my head just the other night. It's actually my (and the people that helped me) fault that it's that high, though; they start off on the ground like normal beds and it was my choice to loft it and we lofted it higher than it's supposed to be. My roommate's is actually like... a notch down, since she adjusted it at the start of winter break, but I was too lazy to.

i love desks under the dorms. some of the ones are sarah lawrence are like that, i hope i got those ones.

minnesota is so pretty.

I really loved the idea of lofted beds before I had one, but now I'm really tired of it. (Not that I'm trying to say that you won't enjoy having one, because plenty of people do, but this was just my experience, I guess.) They're really awesome for saving space, and I don't know that my roommate and I could have had our beds not lofted without constantly tripping over each other and over each other's stuff. But I like just being able to lay down in bed without this huge hassle of climbing up and getting settled and then realizing I left a book or pen or something down on my desk and then having to go back and get it. And there are just other little things that get annoying over time. So I'm looking forward to having a single next year and not having to loft my bed.

It is pretty! I don't have any pictures up of downtown in the Twin Cities except for that one, but the cities themselves are really pretty, nice, clean cities. I wish I had a chance to go down there more often (and knew how to work the bus system). It is a really pretty place, especially when it snows.

It is rather pretty! The picture of the library was my favorite picture I took. And thanks! I love all my shoes, too! (Well, obviously.)
