I just checked my rewards points on my credit card on a whim because I was bored and trying to waste time, and I actually had enough to get a $10 gift card to Barnes and Noble! Very cool! I wasn't expecting to be able to ever actually get anything through their rewards program.

Registration for classes is on Thursday. Originally I was planning on waiting until next semester to talk to someone in the math department about double majoring in psych and applied mathematics, but I think I need to talk to someone before I register. =/ Because if it turns out I can't take certain classes over the summer at UCI, I'm going to need to take at least one next semester. ugh. I went to my Multivariable Calc professor's office at 2:00 and there was someone in there talking to him and I had class at 3:00 and she was still in there talking to him at 2:50. So I decided to check after class, and he wasn't there anymore. And I don't even know that he can help me because applied math is a really new major (I think this is actually the first year it's an option) and he was retired and he just came back for this year. So he might just end up telling me to talk to someone else. But I'll camp out in front of his office right after Research in Psych and hopefully he'll have time before I have class at 2:20. It shouldn't take too long because I just have a few questions. Unfortunately if he can't answer them, I don't know that I'll have time to talk to anyone else. We'll see, I guess.

In happier news, Thanksgiving is only 2 1/2 weeks away! I'm going to be flying back home two weeks from tomorrow. How crazy. It doesn't really feel that long since I last was home. And then there's only a week and then finals and then I'm home again. I need to figure out when I'm flying back, though, for winter break. I'm not entirely sure which classes I have finals in and when they are. I think I'll be done so I can fly home Wednesday, but there's a chance that I might be able to leave Monday, which would be awesome.

Anyways, have a TV meme:
Name a show you can't miss:
Ooh it's tough to choose just one. I guess the number one show I can't miss, that I watch the second possible, would be How I Met Your Mother. Runner-ups would be Dexter, Gossip Girl, Chuck, and The Office.

Name an actor who would make you more inclined to watch a show:
There are a lot. Pretty much anyone who I've liked who's been in a show I've liked before? I mean, I watched Fringe because of Joshua Jackson (although he wasn't enough to keep me watching). Yeah, I don't know. There are too many. Lee Pace, Jenna Fischer, Ben Browder, Michael C. Hall, Michael Urie, Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, I don't know.

Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show:
Mischa Barton would definitely be one. Uh, who else? I don't know. This is kind of like the last question, except the list would be shorter. Usually actors aren't enough to make me turn off from a show, even though they can be enough to make me tune in. If they're the lead character then I might be more likely to turn away, but if there's an actor I like and the story sounds interesting, I might watch anyways.

Name a show you can and do quote from:
I don't typically quote from shows very often. Maybe The Office. I love the "I hate so much about the things you choose to be" quote from Michael to Toby.

Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch:
In terms of shows that don't get enough love, definitely Chuck (seriously, this show is so very good, but barely anyone seems to watch it), Dexter, Pushing Daisies, Greek (this show is so much better than it seems like it should be), Privileged (this show is really cute!), and How I Met Your Mother. But then of course I also love The Office, Supernatural, and Gossip Girl, although I think a lot of people on my flist watch those shows.

Name a TV series you own on DVD:
I own many shows on DVD. Like, the entire series on DVD? Apart from shows that are only one season long, I think The West Wing is the only show I own entirely on DVD, apart from season 2 which I bought on iTunes, so that might not even count. But even stuff like Buffy I only have seasons 1-5 (...I don't think I've ever watched my season 4 DVDs. ugh, I have several DVD sets I've never watched. I need to do this at some point).

Name an actor who launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops in television:
hm. This is tough! I'm trying to think of shows I watch where actors started in a different medium and I can't really think of any. I don't really know where most actors started their careers, anyways.

What is your favorite episode of your favorite series?
Oh god. I don't even know what my favorite series is. It was Buffy, then Veronica Mars until season 3, then The Office. I still love The Office loads, but I recognize that it's not as good as it was in season 2. Then there's stuff like The West Wing which I love but I basically watched entirely on DVD, so it's harder to get attached to a show the same way when you're not watching it every week for several years. Oh, and I totally fell in love with Farscape, but that's mostly because of John/Aeryn; the series itself isn't as great as others. For Buffy, my favorite episode is Becoming Pt. 2, for Veronica Mars it's... see I don't even know. Weapons of Class Destruction? Russkie Business? For The Office it's Casino Night (but I also love The Injury loads, and it's very close). For Farscape it's Die Me, Dichotomy. I don't think I have one for The West Wing. Ugh this is too difficult! I have a hard enough time choosing a favorite series, let alone a favorite episode!

Name a show you keep meaning to watch but you just haven’t gotten around to yet:
hm. Weeds, maybe. I've thought about starting that show for several years and still haven't, and I keep being told I should watch it. Six Feet Under I nearly started watching a few times. I've heard The Wire is the best show on TV for over a year now and still haven't watched it. I watch a lot of TV, though, and during winter and summer break there's usually at least one show I'll start. There's nothing right now that I super want to start watching, though. We'll see over winter break.

Ever quit watching a show because it was so bad?
Oh yeah. I stopped watching Fringe after a few episodes. But maybe that doesn't count since I wasn't hooked to it and it was bad from the start. I stopped watching Bones after the first few episodes because I thought it was pretty bad (although loads of people on my flist loved it, so maybe it got better after the first few eps. Oh, that's a show that I've been thinking about starting again. I don't know if that'll happen though). In terms of shows that were good and then turned bad, or at least shows that I was hooked to for awhile and then got bad, there are fewer. Once I get hooked, it's hard for me to stop watching, no matter how bad it gets. I watched all eight seasons of Charmed, ok? That's saying something. I quit watching Prison Break last season when Sara was killed off, but... that was because Sara was killed off and not over how crappy it had become. Which is evidenced by the fact that I'm back to watching it now that Sara's back, even though the show is just as bad. I stopped watching My Name Is Earl at the end of last season, though, and I had been watching that for a few years. But yeah, I guess once I'm hooked, it's hard for me to quit watching.

Name a show that's made you cry multiple times:
Ha, just one? Definitely Buffy, Veronica Mars, Doctor Who, and Farscape. But even stuff like The O.C. has made me cry. Let's put it this way: the list of shows that I've watched that haven't made me cry is probably much shorter. (I don't even know why, because I'm totally not a cry-baby in real life. I mean, I'm honestly not that emotional in real-life situations, or at least, I don't really show my emotions. But it's really easy for TV to make me cry.)

What's your favorite/preferred genre of TV?
hm. Kind of everything? I mean, as long as the show is well-written and the acting's good, I don't really care. I have a sort of... soft spot, I guess, for fantasy and science fiction, though. My mom's a sci-fi/fantasy writer and I grew up liking that genre the most, and my first TV shows (Buffy, Charmed) tended to be sci-fi/fantasy. And I love Farscape, Buffy, Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, Torchwood, Supernatural, etc. loads. But I've branched out from there. I love good comedy shows (although there typically aren't many of them), family dramas, sci-fi, whatever.

What was the first TV show you were obsessed with?
Charmed. I think I started watching Buffy around the same time (actually, the first episode of Buffy I ever watched was when I was 7, but I didn't really start watching until 6th or 7th grade), but I wasn't as hooked as I was to Charmed. Seriously, Charmed led me to learn how to do stuff in PSP and basic html and such. The first website I ever made was a Charmed fansite on geocities that had a purple background and yellow text. It was disgusting. It had a page for quotes and photos and stuff like that. It was so ridiculous. And I posted on Charmed forums and taught myself how to design graphics and all that. I think that's why I have a soft-spot for Charmed, despite how crappy it got (and it wasn't THAT brilliant to begin with). It really got me into the whole world of fandom. I don't know that I would be on LJ if it weren't for that show.

What TV show do you wish you never watched?
hm. I don't know. I don't think there's any show that I regret watching.

What TV show scared you the most?
None really. The only episode of anything I can remember being freaked out over is the Bloody Mary episode in the first episode of Supernatural. I literally watched that episode with my hands over my eyes and fast-forwarded through any of the freaky parts. I don't really know why that in particular freaked me out. Nothing else has on that show to that extent. Blink on Doctor Who was kind of freaky, I guess, but it didn't really scare me.

What is the funniest TV show you have ever watched?
Green Wing, I think. That show is brilliant. Or no, Arrested Development. Damn, I can't choose between them. Probably Arrested Development. The Office is definitely a close second. And HIMYM is pretty hilarious too.

Do you prefer TV to films?
Yeah. I love films, but I don't connect to most films the way I do to TV shows. There just isn't enough time for me to really connect to the characters in the same way. I do totally love movies, though.

Name current TV relationships that you love.
Oh god. There are so many. Ok, I'm going to assume the question means characters that are actually in a relationship, which would mean... Jim/Pam, Ned/Chuck, Matt/Julie (I'm so happy that they're cute again! I'm just going to forget season 2 ever happened), Dexter/Rita, Scotty/Kevin, and Michael/Sara. I guess that's it. But in terms of characters that aren't in relationships right now, Blair/Chuck, Barney/Robin, Chuck/Sarah, and... is that really it? I guess it feels like there are more usually. Oh well.

I think I'm going to picspam my favorite season finales ever for the [livejournal.com profile] picspammy challenge this month. (I'm actually way less busy this month than last month, which is really weird. I have nothing due for the rest of this week, and I only have a German test a week from Friday, and German tests are easy and don't take much time to study for.) I'm just mentioning it because saying it will make me feel like I have to do it so then I'll actually do it. And maybe I'll get around to organizing my room tonight. My posters keep falling off the walls. I need to put them back up and rearrange them. And then maybe I'll FINALLY post pictures of my room, because I said I was going to do that back in August. Ok, now that I've said all this, hopefully I'll do it!

(The margin Coleman's ahead of Franken is now down to 206! God I really hope Franken wins!)

Your favorite episodes are my favorite episodes too. Its really hard to pick just *one* but I'd have to go with either In the Shadow of Two Gunmen or Two Cathedrals for favorite West Wing episode. Oh, or Shibboleth. Clearly I have an unhealthy love for season 2.

And hi! I don't think I've ever commented you before. I mostly lurk the people on my flist and never say anything, but I've been reading your LJ for a while now. I get the whole college-stress thing too and we share a lot of TV interests.

Ah, that's awesome! Part of the problem for me in choosing a favorite West Wing episode is that it's been over a year since I've seen it (longer in the case of seasons 1-3) so I have a harder time remembering what happens in each episode. I do love season 2 a ridiculous amount; I'm pretty sure that's my favorite season (although I remember loving season 3 as well). I love both In the Shadow of Two Gunmen and Two Cathedrals loads. I I'm pretty sure I really liked Shibboleth too. Oh, and I definitely loved 17 People. See, I can't choose a favorite episode for an entire season, let alone the whole series!

Hi! That's totally cool. I looked at your profile, and wow, we do share a lot of TV interests! That's awesome. :D

Heh, and I just realized we have the same first name too. :P I really need to update my profile at some point. And maybe update my journal in general?

I totally get that though. Its been so long since I saw Veronica Mars season 1 I don't know if I even know the separate episodes anymore. I should really rewatch sometime. That show was great back when.

Oh, I totally saw that when I was looking at your journal, and I was even going to mention it and forgot. But that's very cool!

I rewatched season 1 of VM so many times when it was actually on and the summer after that I could probably list every episode in order. Although I still have a hard time choosing which episode is my favorite. But yeah, that show was brilliant in season 1. Season 2 and 3, on the other hand... not so much. I definitely don't remember like half the episodes in season 2, and pretty much all the episodes in season 3. It's been so long since I've watched any episodes of that show, though.

Ack! Forgot I wasn't logged in.
