Yeah, I know. I really wish the US was more open-minded. And aw, that's sad for your friend Toby. Actually, I live in California, and I think we legalized gay marriage and it's being contested, or... something. I don't remember. I know there was that thing a year or two ago where the mayor (? or someone in the place to do so) of San Francisco all of a sudden allowed gays to be issued marriage licenses and it was later declared invalid or something. I don't know. I'm clearly not very good with details. But I think a couple months ago we officially did, or something. I could be totally wrong, though. I live in Orange County, which I guess is more conservative than not, but most people I know are fine with gay marriage. Don't know about their parents, though, but most of them are pretty religious and I'd bet would be against it. My parents are thankfully very liberal and totally for it.

Heh, either you're not weird, or I'm weird too, since I'm totally the same way. I rarely friend people on my own, and that's usually only if loads of people have friended them before and something in their userinfo is all "Friending me is fine, go ahead!" And I only comment in one person's LJ, and that's because I've known her since 7th grade and we didn't actually meet on-line. So yeah. I definitely understand how you feel.
