I finished reading Watchmen over the weekend. I definitely liked it more than I did when I was starting it in January. I feel like I need to read it again, though, before I can fully appreciate it. And I know I missed loads of little details. Not sure when I'll see the movie, but hopefully soon.

Some of the choices for the Fandom Steel Cage Match are making me cry a little inside. Booth is beating Dexter right now? Really? I mean, granted, I haven't been following Bones, but I did watch the first 5 or so episodes, and based on the first five episodes of Bones versus the first five episodes of Dexter, Dexter wins in a landslide. But beyond that, Dexter is one of my favorite characters EVER. There are few characters I would vote over him. Also, House beating Chuck? I can find that one slightly more understandable, at least. I was also happy for awhile because Ned was beating Dean, but Dean's now back in the lead. It's not that I don't like Dean, but... I don't know. I don't love him nearly as much as everyone else seems to, and I definitely like Ned more.

Actually, I think I have a problem with all the current results except for Barney beating Liz and Ten beating Mal. Besides what I already mentioned, I would really, really love Lorelai to beat Spike, but I don't see that happening seeing as pretty much everyone in Buffy fandom adores Spike. blah. Ok, I probably shouldn't care so much about this. But it still feels kind of frustrating.

Anyway, this week is thankfully not too busy compared to the last few weeks. I got my German test from Friday back that I didn't think I did very well on, and I got an A/A-. She must have curved it because there's no way I did better on this test than the first one. I'm still stressing out over the Multivariate Stats test from last week that she hasn't returned yet. I really just can't wait until Friday. Only 4 days left!

So I wrote this up like a month ago and was just waiting for the Doctor Who finale to post, but then it came and I totally forgot about it. But anyways, since I did a short review of all the shows I watched last year, I figured I'd do the same for this year. There are spoilers, so if you haven't seen all of a TV show that aired this year then you might not want to read it (the shows under the cut are Battlestar Galactica, The Black Donnellys, Doctor Who, Gilmore Girls, Heroes, House, Lost, My Name is Earl, The O.C., The Office, Prison Break, Studio 60, Supernatural, Torchwood, Ugly Betty, and Veronica Mars). 2006-2007 Television Season )

I totally caught my mom watching a rerun of Ugly Betty last night. I'm so awesome at getting her to watch the TV shows I like.

So I meant to do this back around when the show actually ended, but I ended up getting too busy and forgetting about it. So, here it is, about a month late. I had a lot of issues narrowing down my favorite moments, so as a result, there are a lot of moments and it's very image-heavy. They're in chronological order because it was too difficult to put them in order of which moments I liked more and which I liked less.

I've been failing at updating and yet I've had absolutely nothing to do. I only had two full days of school last week due to AP tests and this week I haven't had any yet (although now I'm done with AP tests so that'll change). I've had no homework due to not going to class/teachers being kind and not assigning any.

I saw Spider-Man 3 on Friday with Jackie and Galaxy. That was... not so good. I thought I had lowered my expectations for it, but I didn't expect to not like it for the reasons I did, I guess. I felt like the beginning was boring, the middle was ridiculous (like they were trying to be funny, but went way over the top), and the very end was good. Oh well. If they make a fourth, I'd probably see it. Ah, there are so many sequels coming out, though. The trailers before it started, it was like... one original movie at the beginning, and then it was Harry Potter 5, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Shrek 3, The Fantastic Four 2. So many sequels. It kind of got ridiculous after awhile.

2 hour until the last episode of Gilmore Girls ever! I'm kind of sad. I started watching that show when its very first episode aired when I was in 6th grade. I don't really know why, I think maybe because it came on before Charmed, but yeah. I've watched it ever since. I think I'm going to do what I did when The O.C. ended and make a post of my favorite moments, but it'll probably be a week or two until I do that since I have a bunch of memory book pages to finish before Monday and I feel like I should finish those first.

I'm in a very... book-reading-mood. I don't know why. I read all of Persuasion by Jane Austen on Sunday night (which I didn't mean to, I just was planning to read a few chapters, and then I got sucked in) and then all of The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger on Sunday and Monday. Reading The Time Traveler's Wife was totally just like reading Jane Eyre last fall all over again in terms of how obsessed I got over it and how I wanted to be reading it every minute and then rushing through it and being sad when it was over. I ordered like 4 books from Dover Publications because they are ridiculously cheap ($9 for four books! Well, ok, plus $5 shipping, but still. $14 is pretty good for two books, even!) but they probably won't come until next week, which makes me sad. I want new reading material now.

AP tests are over for me, anyways. I don't have much to say about them, except that I'm glad they're over, especially since I'm not even sending my scores. They started getting really tired near the end; Physics and Chem felt like I would never finish them. The English one was honestly kind of fun, though. It was kind of cool analzying a passage and poems without stressing out over the grade. And the prompt for the prose was totally exactly what we wrote our last two essays on. Not so much the last one (the prompt was different, but the essay ended up being about the same subject) but definitely the second to last one. I basically just rewrote that essay, except I used one character instead of 3. But yeah, I'm glad those are over.

I'm basically just waiting for school to be over now. 31 days until the last day of senior finals (and then a few days after that until graduation). I really can't wait for it to be over.

I'm actually kind of surprised that Gilmore Girls has been canceled. I mean, I know it wasn't looking good, but I figured it would come back either as a shortened season or with only a few appearances by Alexis Bledel or even a full season with the full cast. I'm mostly okay with it. It's had a long run, and it isn't as good as it was back in its first season. The only thing that sucks is that they didn't make the decision before they planned the final episodes. Oh well. I'm sure it'll still be good.

Anyways, I think I actually will be around a fair amount the next two weeks even with APs. I realized that it's in my best interest to do really badly on my APs. The thing is, the only AP that'll get me out of any requirements is French for the foreign language requirement, and it's really hard to do well on that exam (especially with the terrible teacher I have. We do absolutely no listening in class. I took the listening part of a practice test and got 50% on it. ugh.), and anyways, I kind of want to take French in college and learn it from a teacher who can actually teach (unlike the teacher I've had for three years in high school. ugh. I really hate her). Or maybe even learn a new language (I really want to learn Italian, but they don't offer it. Maybe German? That would be kind of cool). The rest of the classes, I can get credit towards my graduation credits but not to any requirements. So I'm afraid if I get credit for all these APs, then I'll go over the graduation credit limit and have to pay extra to take the classes to fulfill my major/general requirements. So I'm probably not even going to send any of my AP scores, which relieves a lot of stress for me for the next few weeks. No homework because of APs (well mostly), and I don't even have to worry about studying! Awesome.

Gilmore Girls 7.14: Farewell, My Pet )

Veronica Mars 3.13: Postgame Mortem )

Saturday and Sunday I finished my season 3 and season 4 DVDs of The West Wing. I'm still absolutely loving this show. I think I'm going to get at least season 5 from my parents, and I'm super anxious. I've heard from many places that season 5 is the worst season, but I'm still looking forward to it. I've lowered my expectations I think based on everything I've heard, and besides, I got through season 8 of Charmed. If I can handle that, I can handle anything. Plus, I'm spoiled for some stuff in season 7 and I'm super excited for it, so I at least have that motivating me to get through it.

wtf I want my car back! 2-3 weeks ago when I first took it in they said it would be ready on the 5th, which was last Thursday. My mom told me it'd be like 3-4 weeks, so I was really happy with that, since it was sooner than I expected. But then Thursday they were like "We're almost done, we just got to do this thing, and you can have it Friday." Friday it wasn't done, but they said definitely Saturday. Saturday, still not done, but Monday! Monday it was almost finished, and on Tuesday they'd deliver it themselves to my house. Well, it's Tuesday, and now they're saying it'll be for sure done tomorrow. For some reason, I don't believe them. I mean, I'd be fine with if it they'd just told me in the first place it'd be like three weeks because I wasn't expecting it to be done so soon. And it doesn't even seem like they underestimated the time it would take, because each day they keep saying it'll be done the next day. It just makes me think they're saying it'll be done the next day to placate me when they know it really won't be done for like another week. The thing is, I'd rather they just tell me the truth about when it'll be done then lie to me.

Anyways. Hello to new friends from the fall friending meme! Just to let you (and the rest of my friends list who doesn't already know), I suck at checking my flist on Mondays and Tuesdays because Mondays I get home at 5:15, have until 8 to finish homework (and Mondays I usually have the most amount of homework), watch TV from 8-11, then sleep at 11 so I'm not dead at school the next day, and Tuesdays I don't get home till 8 because of Symphony, and then I watch TV till 10 and that usually doesn't give me enough time to do anything online. But I'll catch up on everything tomorrow afternoon.

Now for TV stuff! Some of this probably doesn't need to go behind a cut, and I don't think I have a lot to say about anything, but here we go anyways:

Heroes )

Studio 60 )

Gilmore Girls )

Veronica Mars )

blah. I still have French homework to finish. Off to do that now.

Vanished )

Gilmore Girls )

Veronica Mars I commented on last week, so all I'll say is that the credits did look better in HD on my big screen than in a poor-quality, tiny video on my computer, and I think I'm kind of getting used to them. Studio 60 is love, Prison Break I'm really enjoying this season, and Heroes was pretty good. Yay for TV!

Um, what else is going on? I am going to end up tutoring that girl even though she dropped to FST, thankfully. I'm over 2/3 done with college apps, and in about... 2-3 weeks I'll be done completely. It'll be a relief to have those done with, but it'll be even better once it's second semester and I don't have to worry about my grades anymore.

Gilmore Girls )

I watched House last night too, but I never have anything to say about it. I enjoy it, but I'm not involved enough in the show to have anything to say, or any actual opinions about what should happen (other than boo Cameron/House, yay Wilson/House).

Things in real life have been slowly getting better. I think I posted about how everything seemed to be going wrong, but it's been going up this week, so far. My car will be fixed a week from tomorrow which is a lot sooner than my mom originally told me she thought it would take, which is good, since I really miss having a car.

Supernatural premiere tomorrow night! woohoo! And another new episode of The Office! eee! :D
brokenrecord: (Default)
I'm totally in love with Studio 60. I don't erally have any comments on the episode, I just totally love it. I thought I loved the pilot, but in comparison, I'm not as fond of the pilot. I really like the show now that everything's set up and they're moving forward.

Prison Break was good as always. Vanished I think was worse than it has been this week for some reason. Oh well. I was also doing homework at the same time as I was watching it, so I might've missed stuff.

Gilmore Girls tonight. Half of me is excited and half of me is... well, not, because I'm still bitter about season 6 and the finale. I know there's a new show-runner this year, the Palladinos have left, but still. I don't want to be too hopeful.

Um, anything else? I like that even though I have all this school crap and college crap to be doing, all I can think about is new episodes of my favorite TV shows and when different stuff is premiering. New seasons should not start in the fall.
brokenrecord: (Default)
Ah, such a nice day. I pretty much just played The Sims 2 all morning and didn't talk to anyone and it was very good. It felt so much like a Saturday, and not just because we didn't have school today and usually I have school on Fridays. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's because my parents didn't go out tonight and they've been going out every Friday night for like over a year now. Anyways, it's nice, because it feels like I only have one more day before going back to school, but really I have 2, so yay. :)

I saw the second half of the Gilmore Girls pilot this afternoon, and wow. How did Alexis Bledel become such a bad actress the past 6 years? Because she was really, really good as 16-year old Rory, and now she's just... bleh. I hate how she acts now (and I don't mean the character, I mean the actress; she's adopted this sort of baby-voice and I can't really explain it, but it's been bothering me for like 2 years now). And Rory herself isn't hateable! And I like Lorelai now, but she was way better before. I miss the beginning of Gilmore Girls. Its first season was so freaking good.

Tomorrow is more nothing. Well, hopefully animal shelter (bleh, I'm going to have like 4 hours for this month. I really need to go more), and then hopefully I'll start working on headers for Christmas requests, because if I don't start now, I'm going to leave them all until the week before, and that would be bad.
brokenrecord: (Default)
;akjsf I love Raincoats and Recipes so freaking much. It aired Monday and I saw that they were getting to the end of season 4 last week (I watch the episodes pretty much sporadically; sometimes I'll have dinner early and watch it during then, and other times I'm bored and have nothing to do, and so on) so I made sure to record it because I heart that episode so much and I didn't have time to watch it yesterday obviously so I watched it tonight after My Name is Early, and omg that episode makes me so fucking giddy, it's ridiculous. I don't know what other episodes of all the TV shows I've watched get me like that. Weapons of Class Destruction and Hot Dogs, maybe, but this is even better than that because there's so much more interaction (well maybe not more than Hot Dogs) and I don't know. Flowers! The Look! The whole conversation leading up to the two freaking kisses!!! sigh. That's going to keep me giddy for the rest of the night. Favorite GG episode ever, I'd say.

Yeah. Anyways. Recorded House, didn't watch it. Saw My Name is Earl, nothing to say. Saw Monday's Prison Break. I had stuff to say, but I don't remember now, except that I can't believe how much more I'm enjoying it than I expected to before the season premiered. I'm glad it's back from hiatus.

Had Symphony today. I find it so amusing that Mr. Austerman keeps thanking me for doing Symphony. I mean, it's all like randomly one day "Hey, Michelle, want to do Symphony? You won't get school credit for it, though. Oh, and did I mention? You're only in these two movements we're playing from this piece, but one of them all you play is this solo, and the other is essentially entirely a duet between you and Emma." Like, no, sounds terrible. I can't believe I agreed to do this. heh. I would've done it even if I hadn't had pretty awesome parts. I don't care about the credit, either. It just helps me to put it on my college apps, anyways! I can be all "Oh, see, I didn't even get credit for this, but I did it anyways because I'm dedicated to music." Or something. It's sort of an extra curricular activity, right?

I'm starting to get all obsessed with Panic! at the Disco now. I love how this always happens; I sort of like a band, then I see them in concert, and I go insane over them.

My entire body is one giant bruise. Well, ok, not really, but it certainly feels like it. I noticed I have a lot of bruises on my right side, from my hip down to like my knee.

For some reason I thought I had something else to say, but I totally don't remember it, so whatever.

Today was my first time going to Symphony, so after school I drove Jackie, Emma, Ariel, Galaxy, and Mukul to Albertsons/Del Taco and we had dinner and then went back to school. Pretty uneventful day, but it was good.

Stolen from everyone ever:

Go here and choose the following:

1. One that makes you automatically think of me.
2. One that you think I should TOTALLY use more often.
3. One that you don't get/needs more explanation/you have no idea why the hell I have it.

Supernatural freaked me the fuck out, so my brain isn't really thinking well and I don't have much to say on these, but I wanted to say something.

Gilmore Girls )

My Name is Earl )

Supernatural )

Kitchen Confidential is no longer on my viewing schedule. It was inevitable, though. The first episode just didn't capture my interest. And plus, you know you have to drop a show when you see it in your list of saved shows on your DVR player and think "Crap, I don't want to watch this." So I deleted it instead. From the two episodes I saw, it just didn't seem to have much of a... point to it. Like, they have the premise all set up, but I don't see where they're going with it. And that would all be ok to deal with, except I didn't even find it particularly funny. I really wanted to like it, too. Oh well.

guh. I have to write an essay tomorrow in Euro. I mean, at least for this we got 5 possible free response prompts, unlike for the English essay last week, but still. I didn't prepare very well for them and I'm pretty much screwed. Well, there are like 2 that I'm ok at, but bah. I don't know. It's 100 points, too. But then, it seems like everything in Euro is many, many points. We have an 80 question multiple choice test in Euro on Friday, too, and I'd be surprised if that wasn't up around 80-100 points. It's annoying, because it makes things seem more important than they actually are.

Other reasons to hate Euro. )

sigh. Anyways. Nothing much in school today, except we had the first sub of the year and it was in chemistry, of all classes (I want a sub in Euro. Or French. Permanently), and her face looked like it had been Botox-ed a lot and she looked kind of dead. And she spent the entire class period ordering things from magazines on the phone. It was pretty bizarre.

So, at about 5:30, I decided I didn't want to start studying yet, so I started reading Rats Saw God. The plan was to start studying around 6:00. I was still reading the book through Gilmore Girls and House. blah. Bad choice to decide to pick up the book. Oh well, I do have office hours tomorrow. I can study then.

The book was very good. I loved spotting things Rob Thomas has reused in Veronica Mars (Wanda Varner as a character name, I Never with "I've never not..."). Yeah, I don't know what to say. I really enjoyed it.

Already saw the pilot of Bones, as I said before, so I didn't bother to record the pilot. I'll start watching it next week.

Lastly, commercial for Serenity during House! I think I read someone saw one during Supernatural, but I was fastforwarding through those, so I can't confirm that. But ee! September 30! ...I should probably attempt to finish watching the series by then. That would help.
