Oct. 1st, 2007 02:46 pmSo, on the plus side, I got 100 on my first psychology test, I've been getting perfect scores on my psych labs, got a 49/50 on my astronomy homework set, 99 on my second E-Post, and an A on my first reaction paper for psych. On the down side, I just got assigned a 10-page midterm paper due two weeks from Friday in my Technologies of Gender class. sigh. At least it's not a week from Friday, like it was originally set for, since this weekend in parents' weekend and I have a test on Friday and Monday and I have no idea how I'd write a 10-page paper in that amount of time, especially since I've only written two papers before in my life, and one was 3 pages and the other was 5 (my high school was so worried about cheating and plagiarism and such that every essay in all my English classes and in my US and Euro classes were in-class, and we didn't know the prompt beforehand, so I'm used to writing 2-3 page essays in about an hour off the top of my head, which is very different from this midterm paper).
So academically things are going very well so far, thankfully. Hopefully that'll continue. Socially things are eh. I don't have anyone I consider real friends yet, but there are a bunch of people that are like... acquaintances, and I can sit with at meals and hang out with on the weekend. And I've been meeting some people who aren't in my hall/first year class (a few on the other end of the floor, and some even on the floor right below me. Oh, and I talked to one guy today in one of my classes, and he's in a different dorm entirely. I'm really branching out here, clearly). I'm trying to not be too concerned with making super good friends right away. I figure it'll happen naturally, and if I don't have any people I consider friends by the end of the year, well, I already have other good friends at other colleges (who hopefully won't forget me when they have awesome experiences at their colleges and make tons of really good friends), and I'm more concerned with doing really well academically, since I know in four years I'm just going to end up in a totally different place than I am now, away from all the people I've met here.
Anyways. I need to finish my geology lab, read a chapter of my geology book, and start studying for the astronomy exam I have on Friday. I will be productive so I can watch Chuck and Heroes tonight (Prison Break will have to wait till tomorrow) and not put everything off several hours like I'm tempted to do.
