Back, finally!
Thursday: Flew up around... 6? I hate flying. My ears hurt so badly. Also, for the rest of the weekend, at least one of my ears would feel all... cloudy? Like when you first get off an airplane and you can't hear properly. It's like that now, too, but... I did just get off the airplane, and it was getting better earlier today. So if it's still bad, I'll go to the doctor this weekend.
Anyways, we got to our hotel around 10ish, and found that somehow our reservations had been booked starting for the day we left rather than the day we arrived. Which, no, doesn't help us very much. So my dad spent like half an hour calling hotels and finally got us a room at the Marriot in downtown San Francisco. It actually ended up being very nice.
Friday: In the morning we visited this botanical garden thing which, blah, I'm sorry, but I do not share my mother's love for gardening. But after that we went to this American art museum that was right nearby which was very nice.
In the afternoon we visited the University of San Francisco. ugh. Didn't like it. I mean, ignoring the fact that it's a Jesuit school (nothing against Jesuits, I just happen to not have any religious beliefs at all, so it wasn't a very good fit for me), they did a terrible job of selling it. The tour guide was kind of awful, too. Like, I'd like to be friends with him, but as a tour guide, he sucked. He just kept talking about himself, and it's cool when tour guides do that, but... it has to actually relate to the school. Just talking about yourself all the time and it having nothing to do with anything is not good. So yeah, crossing that one off the list.
Saturday: Went to the Museum of Modern Art in the early afternoon which was pretty awesome. Then in the afternoon we went and saw Capote, which I thought was excellent. Oh and then after dinner, we bought a movie on the hotel TV thing and we saw Walk the Line which I thought was also very good, but not as good as Capote (though the acting in Walk the Line was excellent. Reese Witherspoon really impressed me, considering the only thing I had seen her in before was Legally Blonde).
Sunday: Drove up to Berkeley in the morning and wandered around. As we were walking down Telegraph Avenue (which amused me greatly because of this The O.C. Seth/Ryan fic called Telegraph Ave. which takes place at Berkeley), my dad stopped to glance in this one window and this guy that worked there started talking to us and then proceeded to tell us his entire life story. It was kind of amusing, but also incredibly bizarre.
In the afternoon, we took a tour of Berkeley, which I liked a lot more than USF. I think I definitely want to apply there, and I do have some sort of chance of getting in, which is a plus. After that we bought Wedding Crashers on the hotel TV, which was amusing, but nowhere near the best comedy ever, not even close, which I remember hearing some of my friends described.
Monday: Woke up at the crack of dawn and drove to Palo Alto to tour Stanford. I liked Stanford most of all. It sucked, though, because basically it was an hour and a half of touring Stanford and convincing me how excellent it was and how much I wanted to go there, followed by an hour information session detailing all the numerous reaons I will never, ever get in. sigh. But I'll probably end up applying there anyways, just because it's probably my number one choice, and I might as well try. You never know.
Then went back to Oakland to fly home and had like 3 hours to kill before the flight. Boring, but it wasn't too bad. The flight home was a lot better, except my ears still really hurt on the descent and I was convinced that something was going to explode in my brain and I was going to die. I'm a bit overdramatic, if you hadn't noticed.
Anyways, yeah. Good weekend. Now I suppose I'll go catch up on TV shows I missed. I'll return to my friendslist probably tomorrow night.
