Short random TV reactions (not of everything I've watched in the past few days, but the things I actually have stuff to say about:

How I Met Your Mother 5.02 )

The Big Bang Theory 3.02 )

Greek 3.05 )

I was going to write something about Mad Men, but then I realized my reaction was going to be exactly the same as my reactions for the last 2 weeks, so... if you want to know what I thought, then check those. I'm nothing if not predictable! I liked House (I'm liking that they didn't totally rush into him coming back) and Gossip Girl was fine (like, I can't think of anything I disliked and I enjoyed watching it, but I also don't really care about anything that happens? I don't know. I'm not considering giving it up or anything, I'm just not as into it as I used to be).

The professor I was going to talk to today about post-college stuff wasn't there when I checked her office, and I don't have any more classes today and don't really feel like going on campus again on the off-chance that she'll be there, so I think I'll wait until tomorrow or Thursday afternoon. I mean, it's not like I have to have this all figured out today, but I know I'm going to keep worrying and thinking about it until I talk to someone about it who actually knows the field and can give me advice, so I'd like to do it sooner rather than later. Plus, she's the chair of the psych department and I have a question about a class that was going to be offered this year but isn't anymore which I really need for both the psych major and general ed requirements, so I need to ask her about that. So I might as well talk to her now rather than wait until next semester or even next month or whatever.

My parents are arriving a week from Thursday for parents' weekend. I can't believe that's already here. It feels like they just left and the semester just started. It'll be nice to see them, anyways. I'm looking forward to them coming.

First exam of the semester tomorrow in German. I'm nervous. I hope it goes all right.

Oh Monday night TV, I have missed you so much. The only way you could be better if Chuck was starting now and had a full season and was not being left until after the Winter Olympics. (SERIOUSLY COME ON, MARCH IS SO FAR AWAY!)

How I Met Your Mother 5.01 )

The Big Bang Theory 3.01 )

House 6.01 )

Gossip Girl 3.02 )

All I have to say about the last episode of Mad Men is Mad Men 3.06 )

Also, FULL SEASON ORDER FOR GLEE! YAY! I wasn't too worried because it's actually doing ridiculously well in the ratings (I have no idea how that's happening, because it seems like it's totally the type of show that would be amazing and be critically loved, but no one would actually watch. Like Wonderfalls or Pushing Daisies or like the million other shows I've watched that have been canceled).

Emmys Reactions )

I'm trying to pick up my mood by focusing on the fact that TBBT and HIMYM premiere tomorrow night (kl;j;lasf I AM SO EXCITED YOU HAVE NO IDEA! I'm totally unspoiled for HIMYM and... kind of spoiled for TBBT, but whatever, so excited!) and Kris Allen's new single drops tomorrow morning. Oh, but watching the Emmys has motivated me to finally pre-order season 4 of HIMYM (well, I would have done that anyways, but I had forgotten about it) and buy both seasons of TBBT (which I had been debating over, but whatever, I adore that show. And I have gift cards!). Let's just hope I have time to actually watch them when they arrive!

We have a mouse in our apartment, and it's made its way up to my room. We have a mouse trap (a capture-and-release type trap, not a killing trap) in the room, but it's evaded all the traps that around the apartment, and it's been all over the place and managed to climb up and down two flights of stairs, so I think it's too smart to be fooled into being trapped. ...it's kind of ridiculously adorable and a little part of me wants to keep it for a pet, but it's probably disease-ridden and pooping all over our closets and such, so that's probably not the best idea.

House 5.20 (major spoilers) )

I think I mentioned like a month or so back that I wanted to watch Castle for Nathan Fillion but it looked really terrible. I ended up watching the pilot when it first aired and it was better than I thought, but I wasn't crazy about it. So I didn't watch any more episodes after that, but then on Sunday I wanted something to watch while I was making flashcards for my RIP test and I was all caught up on shows, so I decided to catch up on the episodes since the pilot. I still just think it's decent (granted, much better than I thought it would be), and I don't think I'd watch it if it weren't for Nathan Fillion, but I think I'll keep watching it for awhile. If I get too busy and need to start dropping stuff, it'll probably be the first to go. But yeah, it's pretty good. I thought the last episode was better than the previous episodes, too.

I'm pretty irritated at my Diff Eq professor because for the last quiz he was like "This will be a take-home quiz and I want you to take these three differential equations and go through all the calculations and find a general solution." So I did that and I got all three right, but today he passed them back and was like "I took 2 points off if you didn't explain every step." Which I didn't because HE DIDN'T TELL US TO DO THAT. ugh. Like, I still got a 90, but I really need all the points I can get in this class because of how awfully my group did on the first project and because I don't think we'll do much better on this project that's due on Thursday. And it just irritates me because he said nothing about that, and it's not like there's been a precedence for this before. I feel like I shouldn't be expected to read his mind and know everything he expects from us. gah.

I'm also kind of annoyed because my Multivariate Stats professor pushed our take-home exam back a week. Originally I had that due next Monday and a paper due in Research in Psych on Tuesday, but then my RIP professor pushed back our paper a week so it was like "Oh, good, I have time to work on the test this weekend" but now they're both the same week again and I can't start either of them until next weekend and next weekend is a 2-day weekend and if they had stayed this weekend then at least I would have had a 3-day weekend to work on them. sigh. At least this weekend is now light and I can relax a little.

So last night when I was taking a shower, I bent down to pick up my shampoo bottle (since the shower stalls are so ridiculously tiny and there are no shelves or anything to put shampoo/conditioner bottles onto, so I have to put them on the ground), and when I came back up, I knocked my head right into the shower knob. So now I have this giant bump on my forehead. Who gets bumps on their head past the age of, like, 3? Seriously, it's huge and lumpy and painful. I feel ridiculous.

Anyways, I managed to get together with my group last night for the math project and I actually feel way better about it now than I did before that. I didn't think we'd be able to figure some stuff out, but we did. And I didn't even have to write it all up this time. Unfortunately it took longer than I thought it would, and I hadn't written any of my reaction paper that was due today yet since I thought I would have time afterwards (even though I would have had plenty of time before the group meeting to do it). And so, of course, like the good student I am, when I got back to my room after working on the project, instead of doing the reaction paper, (well first I took a shower and got the huge bump on my head, but after that, when I was supposed to start my paper) I decided it made sense to watch House. I don't even like House that much! I mean, I like it, but I'm not obsessed with it like How I Met Your Mother or True Blood or The Office or Pushing Daisies or Chuck or like a million other shows I watch. Although I have been way more into it since they started the whole House/Cuddy thing. But yeah, so I wasted 45 minutes doing that before finally starting my paper. Oh, and I only did half of it. So I have to write the other half now, in the two hours I have before class. I win at school.

At least I got out of Research in Psych early because I finished the test early, so I have a little more time. And the first half only took 30 minutes to write, so the second half shouldn't take much longer. Provided I actually, you know, just do it and don't wait until 1:50 to finish it. On the plus side, the test I had in RIP was much easier than I expected. There's one part I think I might have gotten a few points of, but I'd be surprised if I got anything lower than an A-, and I don't even need that great of a grade to keep my grade up in the class seeing as I've gotten good grades on everything we've done in the class so far. So I'm glad that I didn't waste any more time studying for the test than I needed to yesterday.

Now I get to go through all of this again for Friday! Well, first I need to finish the reaction paper for Developmental Psych, but then I have a test (that I need to spend way more time studying for than RIP) and two reports to write up. sigh. I just have to keep telling myself that I will be heading home a week from today and will be done with all this stuff and finals and I'll be able to relax for 6 1/2 weeks.

The German listening comprehension exercises are so weird. I was listening to this dialogue, and these two people were discussing what courses they take in school, and the girl asked the guy about his psych professor he's like (no lie) "My psychology professor? She's very intelligent. And nice. And sexy..." and he kind of trails off kind of... dreamy-like? And then it just ends there. It's so weird.

Anyways, today was much better than yesterday. Not for any particular reason, just because it wasn't yesterday anymore. I was really looking forward to Wind Ensemble, for some reason. I was considering not doing it this year for a little bit, but I think I'm glad I'm continuing with it. So that's good. I'm having major issues figuring out when to meet with these two groups for group projects. One of the projects is due Monday and two days ago when we got assigned into groups, I was like "Ok, I'll e-mail you both my schedule and you can e-mail yours and we can figure out what works best." That should have been easy, right? Well, one of the people e-mailed me back that night with his schedule, but he only sent it to me (I think he clicked reply instead of reply all). Then the third person didn't e-mail me her schedule until today (in class today she was like "Oh, sorry, I didn't check my e-mail until today!" It's like... what? But you KNEW that I was going to e-mail you! Why wouldn't you check your e-mail sooner?) and she only sent it to me and the time she wants isn't the same time he wants, so of course I have to e-mail them both and figure this out. And we're trying to meet tomorrow to work on this, and ugh. It's just so complicated. And I'm so bad at planning things, but I'm apparently the only one who has any sense of motivation to get this done. gah. Have I mentioned how much I hate group projects? Because I really, really do.

I started on that top 10 OTP meme that was going around like a month or more ago a few weeks ago. I've only gotten through the honorable honorable (yes, I did mean to put that twice) mentions. I'm hoping posting about it will make me actually finish it. I haven't done a picspam in awhile, and I like doing them. Plus, I need to get more use out of PSP. I hardly ever use it because it means I have to reload into Windows (I have a Mac with Boot Camp, and PSP only works with Windows). But yeah, expect that... eventually.

I haven't been posting about TV at all recently, but I'll try to do that more. Of the new shows so far, I'm watching Privileged, 90210, and Fringe. I haven't seen this week's Fringe yet and I posted about the pilot awhile back, but in terms of the other shows, 90210 is pretty awful but I'm probably going to keep watching because I kind of really like Ethan (I don't know why, I just do!) and whatever, I enjoy shallow teen shows. I have a lot of stuff to watch Tuesdays so when the semester gets busier, if it still pretty much sucks, I'll probably drop it. Oh, and I'm totally loving Privileged. Well, I only have seen the pilot so far (I'm going to watch the second episode in an hour or so), but it's just so cute and fun! I love both the love interests for the main character so far, and I don't know. I just enjoy it. Also, in terms of returning shows, Gossip Girl and Greek totally kick ass this season, Prison Break still kind of sucks, but whatever, there's Sara, and House had an excellent opener, but I can never really get myself excited about it.

So I wrote this up like a month ago and was just waiting for the Doctor Who finale to post, but then it came and I totally forgot about it. But anyways, since I did a short review of all the shows I watched last year, I figured I'd do the same for this year. There are spoilers, so if you haven't seen all of a TV show that aired this year then you might not want to read it (the shows under the cut are Battlestar Galactica, The Black Donnellys, Doctor Who, Gilmore Girls, Heroes, House, Lost, My Name is Earl, The O.C., The Office, Prison Break, Studio 60, Supernatural, Torchwood, Ugly Betty, and Veronica Mars). 2006-2007 Television Season )

I totally caught my mom watching a rerun of Ugly Betty last night. I'm so awesome at getting her to watch the TV shows I like.
brokenrecord: (Default)
Gilmore Girls )

I watched House last night too, but I never have anything to say about it. I enjoy it, but I'm not involved enough in the show to have anything to say, or any actual opinions about what should happen (other than boo Cameron/House, yay Wilson/House).

Things in real life have been slowly getting better. I think I posted about how everything seemed to be going wrong, but it's been going up this week, so far. My car will be fixed a week from tomorrow which is a lot sooner than my mom originally told me she thought it would take, which is good, since I really miss having a car.

Supernatural premiere tomorrow night! woohoo! And another new episode of The Office! eee! :D
brokenrecord: (Default)
So, I got The Office Season 2 and Arrested Development Season 3 today from Amazon.com. I've finished all my homework except finding a passage in The Scarlet Letter that reflects the Romantic movement but that isn't going to take 4 hours. So, the question is, do I leave my DVDs until the weekend, or do I start them tonight? I'm pretty sure I don't have the willpower to wait until the weekend, but I won't get very far in them tonight, and I doubt I'll have much time tomorrow to do anything because I have a calc quiz Friday and an English essay and I'm sure a million other things that will be assigned tomorrow. Ah, but I want to start them so badly! But I also don't want to start a few episodes and then have to wait two days to continue them. sigh. Decisions, decisions.

Uh, other than that, nothing much has been going on (other than lots of homework and lots of marching band) which is why I haven't been posting. I'm liking all my classes except French, which is to be expected, and even that's not as bad as I thought it would be. I'm especially liking English (even though thinking about all those essays we have yet to write freaks me out).

I've been watching Prison Break, Vanished, and House, but I haven't been posting about them because I haven't had much to say. I'm really, really loving Prison Break this season, probably more than last season. House is still good, but I'm just incapable of really getting invested in it. I do enjoy it, though. Vanished still isn't great, but I think Gale Harold has started to get more comfortable in his role by these episodes, and the episodes are improving. Heroes doesn't start for a few more weeks, so I'll at least keep watching until then. I'm still convinced it'll be cancelled soon, but then again, I have no idea what the ratings are, so it could be doing wonderfully.

I'm tired. Is first semester over yet? I can't wait until second semester.

We watched more of Sense and Sensibility today in English, and there was Hugh Laurie! I knew he was in it because his name was in the opening credits, but it was still awesome to see him (since his character didn't come in until later in the movie, so I didn't see him yesterday). He plays such an awesome character, too. So totally House, just without the American accent (and he looks a lot younger, too).

Today was really good. I don't know, it just ended up being really amusing and all around good. We were going to see Corpse Bride at Woodbridge theaters between the end of school and Symphony, but then it turned out that Mrs. Bentley set the start of rehearsal for 5, so we wouldn't have enough time. Maybe we'll try again next week.

Anyways. House )

So I was just looking on imdb.com, and Hugh Laurie was in Spice World! This amuses me to no end.

So, at about 5:30, I decided I didn't want to start studying yet, so I started reading Rats Saw God. The plan was to start studying around 6:00. I was still reading the book through Gilmore Girls and House. blah. Bad choice to decide to pick up the book. Oh well, I do have office hours tomorrow. I can study then.

The book was very good. I loved spotting things Rob Thomas has reused in Veronica Mars (Wanda Varner as a character name, I Never with "I've never not..."). Yeah, I don't know what to say. I really enjoyed it.

Gilmore Girls )

House )

Supernatural )

Bones and My Name is Earl will probably come tomorrow, unless I'm strapped for time. Then I'll probably save Bones for Friday or Saturday night.

Veronica Mars in less than 24 hours! Woohoo! :D

Already saw the pilot of Bones, as I said before, so I didn't bother to record the pilot. I'll start watching it next week.

Lastly, commercial for Serenity during House! I think I read someone saw one during Supernatural, but I was fastforwarding through those, so I can't confirm that. But ee! September 30! ...I should probably attempt to finish watching the series by then. That would help.
