brokenrecordal;skdfj I got a B+ on that in-class essay test I had in Film Analysis two weeks ago! You have no idea how ecstatic I am. I've been freaking out over this test for these entire two weeks. I was really regretting not dropping the class or at least changing my grading option to pass/fail, since I was so sure I had done terribly. I still regret not changing the grading option (and kind of not dropping the class, since I loaded my schedule with too much reading and writing and I don't have any math or hard science to balance it out) just because I think I would enjoy the class more if I weren't freaking out about how I'm going to do on tests and the paper and such, but at least now I feel better about the class. And we watched North By Northwest yesterday in class, the first actual film we've seen, so that's also making my attitude towards this class more positive. Ah, I'm so happy. :D
I'm totally loving my abnormal psych discussion group. We had our first actual discussion last night, and it was really just a lot of fun. I mean, I get to talk about movies and psychological disorders and get credit for it for class. It's awesome.
Saw this a couple of places!
1. When did you start watching?
2005, right at the end of its first run in the U.K. I think I caught up to Boomtown, and then the rest I watched as they aired.
1a. Why?
I heard a lot of great things about it. I... have no idea from where, actually. I wasn't on Livejournal yet. Huh. This is kind of weird. I have no idea where I heard about it from, but I remember hearing about it a lot and how amazing it was.
2. What was your first episode?
The Pilot. It's too hard for me to get into shows if I don't start from the beginning.
3. Which episodes have you seen?
All of the new series of Doctor Who. I haven't seen a single episode of the old series.
3a. Favourite?
Ooh, tough. Probably The Parting of the Ways, because I think that episode cemented my love for the show. I loved it before, but I just absolutely loved everything about every moment of that episode. But it's been so long since I've seen the first season (the second two, really!), so it's hard to say. If I cheat and do by each season, my favorite of season 2 is Doomsday (despite how much it kills me), and season 3... oh season 3 is hard, actually. I love basically the entire last half of the season (from Human Nature to the finale). I guess Utopia, although Blink and The Sound of Drums come close.
4. Are your friends/family interested in the show?
Yes! My mother loves the show almost as much as me (and sometimes more. She's less critical of the bad episodes, but likes the good episodes less than me, if that makes any sense), and my dad sometimes watches it with her and likes it. I think of my friends... at least Lulu has seen some of it? I think? I forget her opinion of it, though.
5. Which Doctor is your favourite?
Ten! I don't know why. I love Nine as well, but... Ten just a little more. They're the only two Doctors I've seen.
6. Which Doctor is your least favourite?
...um, Nine? Just because... I've only seen Ten and Nine, and I like Ten more? But I do love Nine, don't get me wrong.
7. Which TV companion is your favourite?
Rose. Mostly because she was my first companion, and I will always be the most attached to her for that. But I love Martha ridiculously, seriously. And Jack, too, of course, if he counts. Donna we haven't seen enough of yet, but if they keep it kind of a... her kind of bitching at him, and especially her not falling in love with him like everyone else does, then I think I'll be good with her.
8. Which TV companion is your least favourite?
...um. If you do just the companions I've seen that are actual season-long companions, that means it's between Rose and Martha for me, so... it would have to be Martha. BUT I TOTALLY LOVE MARTHA, DON'T GET ME WRONG. Least favorites of companions and doctors and such don't work when I've seen so few!

Kind of? He was awesome for bringing Doctor Who back, and he's written some good episodes, but I'm not a complete fan of everything he's done.

I have nothing against him? He's written 3 episodes I love and one I'm unsure about (The Girl in the Fireplace).
7b. Paul Cornell?
Yes, I guess? I've liked all three episodes he's written.

I love how the Sonic Screwdriver can do, like, EVERYTHING.

Does Torchwood count? Well, I started watching it because of Jack, but I fell in love with it for its own merits. I don't know that that counts, though. I don't think I have.

15. What do you think of The Curse of Fatal Death?
I don't know what that is!
16. Do you have any fannish opinions that you think are fairly unpopular?
Uh. Is liking Ten more than Nine unpopular? Or loving both Rose and Martha? I don't really know what opinions are popular or not in this fandom.
17. What's your favourite pairing?
Ten/Rose. I'm always going to love them the most. Except maybe Ten/Rose/Jack (which hasn't happened, but needs to! Nine/Rose/Jack is also awesome, of course).
18. What pairing(s) won't you touch with a really long pole?
Um. Well, I don't like the idea of Ten/Donna, because I'm tired of everyone falling in love with the Doctor. And I don't really like Ten/Martha, although I'm less opposed to it than I used to be.
