Best Picture
Atonement
Juno
Michael Clayton
No Country for Old Men
There Will Be Blood

My choice: Juno
My prediction: No Country for Old Men
I know a lot of people think that Juno was good but isn't worthy of being nominated, much less winning. I don't know. I think I see more in it than most people do. The movie is just so perfectly crafted, in my opinion. All the acting is amazing, the characters are perfectly written, the ending is absolutely perfect for the movie. I don't know. I can't really explain why I love it so much, but I do. It affected me far more than any of the other nominated movies. It's my favorite of 2007. I did like all the other movies (although Michael Clayton shouldn't have been nominated. It was a good film, but The Diving Bell and the Butterfly was so much better), and I'd be fine if No Country for Old Men wins, which I expect it will. I liked There Will Be Blood more than NCfOM, but I did think it was an excellent movie. I won't be very upset if Juno doesn't win because I know most people didn't love it as much as I did, and I'm not expecting it to, but if I were choosing the awards, it would definitely be my choice.

Director
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Julian Schnabel
Juno, Jason Reitman
Michael Clayton, Tony Gilroy
No Country for Old Men, Joel Coen and Ethan Coen
There Will Be Blood, Paul Thomas Anderson

My choice: Julian Schnabel
My prediction: Joel and Ethan Coen
I'd be somewhat surprised if the Coens didn't get this, which I'd be totally fine with. As long as it's not to Michael Clayton, I'll be happy. (Not that I hate the movie, or anything. I just don't think its direction is that striking.)

Adapted Screenplay
Atonement
Away from Her
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
No Country for Old Men
There Will Be Blood

My choice: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
My prediction: No Country for Old Men
There's no way in hell The Diving Bell will get this, but I thought it was really well written, and I feel like that movie should've gotten way more attention. I'm fine with basically any of these (except, I guess, for Away from Her, just because I haven't seen it yet).

Original Screenplay
Juno
Lars and the Real Girl
Michael Clayton
Ratatouille
The Savages

My choice: Juno
My prediction: Juno
I've seen all but Lars and the Real Girl and The Savages. Ratatouille was well-written, but I love Juno more than anything. Michael Clayton was just... eh. I mean, it was good, but it wasn't spectacular by any means. I'll be very shocked if this doesn't go to Juno.

Actress in a Leading Role
Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth: The Golden Age
Julie Christie, Away from Her
Marion Cotillard, La Vie en Rose
Laura Linney, The Savages
Ellen Page, Juno

My choice: Marion Cotillard
My prediction: Julie Christie
I had the hardest time with this, because I was supporting Ellen Page for so long, and I still think she was absolutely fabulous in Juno, but I saw La Vie en rose last night, and... Marion Cotillard was just brilliant. She was Edith Piaf. I'd be thrilled if Ellen Page won, and the part of me that is in total love with Juno still wants her to win most of all, but I do think Marion Cotillard's performance was just slightly better. Of course, I'm pretty sure it'll go to neither of them. The only other performance in this category I've seen is Cate Blanchett, and... no. Just, no. She was one of the few good things about that movie, but even so, she was nothing special. I would be very upset if she got it.

Actor in a Leading Role
George Clooney, Michael Clayton
Daniel Day-Lewis, There Will Be Blood
Johnny Depp, Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Tommy Lee Jones, In the Valley of Elah
Viggo Mortensen, Eastern Promises

My choice: Daniel Day-Lewis
My prediction: Daniel Day-Lewis
I've seen all but Tommy Lee Jones and Viggo Mortensen. George Clooney and Johnny Depp were both good, but they don't stand a chance against Daniel Day-Lewis. He was brilliant.

Actor in a Supporting Role
Casey Affleck, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Javier Bardem, No Country for Old Men
Philip Seymour Hoffman, Charlie Wilson's War
Hal Holbrook, Into the Wild
Tom Wilkinson, Michael Clayton

My choice: Casey Affleck
My prediction: Javier Bardem
Javier Bardem was amazing, don't get me wrong, and I totally won't be upset if it's him (which I'm expecting it to be). But I was totally blown away by Casey Affleck in The Assassination of Jesse James. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was great, as he always is, but nothing spectacular, and Tom Wilkinson was also good. Didn't see Into the Wild. But yeah, I'm sure it'll go to Bardem, but I liked Affleck slightly more.

Actress in a Supporting Role
Cate Blanchett, I'm Not There
Ruby Dee, American Gangster
Saoirse Ronan, Atonement
Amy Ryan, Gone Baby Gone
Tilda Swinton, Michael Clayton

My choice: Saoirse Ronan
My prediction: Cate Blanchett
This one is tough for me to choose since I've only seen Atonement and Michael Clayton of this list. Tilda Swinton was great, but I was really impressed with Saoirse Ronan. This was also tough to predict; I was split between Cate Blanchett and Amy Ryan. In any case, I probably care about this category least of all.

Cinematography
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Atonement
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
No Country for Old Men
There Will Be Blood

My choice: Atonement
My prediction: There Will Be Blood
I'm kind of just guessing for prediction. I think it could easily go to Atonement or No Country for Old Men (the other two as well, but they have less of a chance). It was also terribly hard to choose. I've seen all these movies, and they were all gorgeous and wonderfully shot. I was particularly stuck between There Will Be Blood, Atonement, and The Diving Bell, but I had to give it to Atonement. I really don't care who wins this category, though, because all these films were beautiful.

Original Score
Atonement
The Kite Runner
Michael Clayton
Ratatouille
3:10 to Yuma

My choice: Atonement
My prediction: Atonement
I might have a tougher time with this category if they hadn't ruled out the score for There Will Be Blood (totally awesome score), but they did, so... Atonement. I think even with that, I'd still choose Atonement's score, because that was just... amazing, and so fitting. I've seen all of these except for The Kite Runner, and the only score that comes close to Atonement's is 3:10 to Yuma's, but still, it should go to Atonement.

Original Song
"Falling Slowly" from Once
"Happy Working Song" from Enchanted
"Raise It Up" from August Rush
"So Close" from Enchanted
"That's How You Know" from Enchanted

My choice: "Falling Slowly"
I'm kind of too scared to make a prediction for this category, because I want it to be Falling Slowly so badly. The Enchanted songs are fun and good and all, but they are nowhere near as amazing as Falling Slowly. If it's Raise It Up... I don't know what I'll do.
