brokenrecordI finished the essay due for my SAT class. Didn't take very long, either. Less than an hour. The prompt was pretty easy, too. I'm satisfied with it.
I found this Barnes and Noble gift card on my desk last night that can be used online (I believe my dad gave it to me for my birthday, last January), so on a whim, I pre-ordered the new Harry Potter book. I was wondering how I would get it, since I have no cash (well, $3, but I'm thinking it'd cost more than that) and I don't know when I'd even be able to get it, and... yeah. And with the last book, I waited like 6 months to get it (yeah, I'm not that big of a fanatic of the books. I really like them, but I'm not into the fandom, and I don't care about reading them immediately, really) and I didn't want to wait quite as long. But then there was this card! The book wasn't even the first thing that came to my mind with the card, but I went onto the Barnes and Noble webpage, and it was the first thing on the page, and I instantly thought "Oh, wow! I could just buy it with this card!" So, I did. ...I should probably tell my mom about this before it comes, though, or else she might think I randomly stole one of her credit cards to buy the new Harry Potter book, and yeah. That would be bad.
I really, desperately want a digital camera. I've wanted one for awhile, really, but I'm always too afraid/guilty to ask for one. The thing is, I have one. Or had. I don't know. I was really into photography in 6th grade and somehow became the school's digital photographer (um, that sounds more prestegious than it is. I took like 5 pictures, and I don't think they were ever used anywhere) and I all of a sudden wanted a digital camera like the one I was using, and my parents actually got me one for Christmas, but it was totally different than the one I had used before and I couldn't figure out how to use it, so... I never really bothered. I used it, like, once. Plus, back then, I didn't really use the internet much, so I didn't really have a use for one. Now I could actually figure out how to use one and I'd have a use for it. And I wouldn't have to buy all those disposable cameras everytime I wanted to take pictures. I mean, in the long run, it would probably save my mom money (particularly because I don't even want something "state of art" or whatever. There's this one at this site I was looking at that I'd be happy with that's only $80).
So, on Tuesday, is my parent's 30th wedding anniversary, and my mom told me that we would go out to eat at the Spectrum together, and after that we could go shopping. I don't know if this means it's just an oppurtunity for me to buy things (...um. I have $3. Not much will happen with then, in that case) or if my parent's would consider buying anything, but if they would, I was looking at the Spectrum website and there's this store there called Ritz Cameras, or something. And they sell digital cameras, including the one I was talking about that's only $80. I think I could possibly convince my parents to get it for me (I'd even offer to like do the bird cages all summer to pay off the cost, if my mom wanted me to) but I'm still too kind of guilty to ask. blah. I'll need to work up the nerve sometime soon. I'd like to ask before we actually go so it's not a total out-of-the-blue thing.
All right, now that I've actually pre-ordered the new Harry Potter book and I know that it won't be another 6 months before I read it, I think I'll go ahead and start rereading them. I've been meaning to for awhile, actually, since I haven't read them in like a year. So yes. Off to do that.

Date: 2005-07-10 10:55 pm (UTC)Awwww, that sucks. I haven't read any of the books in about a year, so it's a lot of fun to go through them again. And yeah, preordering is awesome. According to the Barnes and Noble webpage, as long as you order it before Monday night, then it should arrive on Friday, so I should get mine then. I haven't been incredibly excited about it the past few weeks, but now I'm starting to get really excited for it.
