Very brief random comments on TV from the past few days:

kajsfd TORY IS TOTALLY MY FAVORITE CHARACTER EVER NOW.

Ok, that's not really true. But I love her forever for airlocking Cally. Like, when I was doing the Top 5 things a few weeks ago and listed Cally as one of my least favorite characters ever, that was only with vague recollections of the previous seasons since it had been so long since I had watched BSG, that all I remembered was that she was incredibly annoying and whiny. I had TOTALLY forgotten that she had killed Boomer and then got together with Chief after he beat her. I don't know how you forget something like that, but I did. And I only just was reminded of it right before watching this episode (I don't remember how, but... it got brought up somewhere or I just remembered it randomly and was like "HOLY FUCK NOW I REMEMBER WHY I HATE CALLY MORE THAN MOST CHARACTERS EVER CREATED."), so I was in a very anti-Cally mood while watching this. SO glad she's dead.

...um, did other things happen in this episode? This is pretty much all I can think about. Ok, well, actually one other thing: I was actually interested in Lee's storyline. This is kind of shocking to me, because I really enjoy him in his scenes with Kara and most of his scenes with Adama, but... pretty much at no other times. I mean, there are other times I've liked him, but... mostly I just find him boring/annoying on his own. Black Market is my least favorite episode of the series. If I do a rewatch this summer, like I'm planning, I will probably skip that episode. But yeah, anyways, I wasn't really looking forward to his storyline, but... I liked it! Part of it is that I kind of really like Zarek and I don't like Roslin, so him fighting against Roslin was awesome for me.

Not really about any specific episode, just wanted to say that I LOVE DONNA. I was kind of wary about her just because even though I mostly liked her in The Runaway Bride, I wasn't sure about her being in every episode. I thought she might get annoying or tiring or whatever. But she's just totally kick-ass. She complements the Doctor very well.

Also, I'm really optimistic that they're going to keep her and the Doctor totally platonic. I really love their relationship as it is, and I would really hate it if either fell in love with the other. Just one companion where it's totally platonic on both sides, please? Then you can do whatever you want (...except I'll still probably only ship Doctor/Rose. Unless the companion is Jack, because I totally love Doctor/Jack as well).

All three episodes this season have been really well-done, I thought. Nothing spectacular, but fun standalone episodes that I think I'll enjoy rewatching (like, for example, Smith and Jones. I really enjoy rewatching that episode even though it's not one of the major episodes, like Human Nature/Family of Blood or Utopia/The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords, in season 3. The same goes for Gridlock, actually, which I don't think is a very well-loved episode, but for some reason I really enjoy it. It probably is partially due to David Tennant holding a kitten). Just, yeah. I'm very optimistic about this season. And very much looking forward to Rose's and Martha's episodes (even though I'm really scared about how they're going to end things with Rose).

Aw, I'm going to miss this cast. I understand why they're switching up casts, and I think it has the potential to work really well (of course, it also has the potential to totally suck), but I did really enjoy this cast. I'm still upset that Chris had to die. Seriously, you couldn't kill Anwar off? I was THIS CLOSE to not totally hating him when he told his mom he wouldn't open his results because he promised everyone else he wouldn't in memory of Chris and all until after the funeral, and then the second she leaves, he opens them. ugh. He so doesn't deserve a friend like Maxxie, and I didn't understand him and James inviting Anwar to live with them in London. sigh. (Um, but yay for Maxxie getting a boyfriend! Even... if we didn't really get to see any of that evolve. Oh well.)

I also didn't like that Cassie only got like 30 seconds of screentime, especially in an episode titled "Everyone." Oh well. Also, how do all these kids have enough money to just fly to New York City whenever they want? I couldn't afford that from here, and I can't imagine that flights from England to New York would be cheaper than from here. And none of them have jobs. Whatever. I suppose I don't watch this show for the realism.

Um, but I did like the rest of the episode mostly. I felt so terrible for Jal, and I loved her speech at Chris's funeral. Also, that she got an abortion. Just... wow. Definitely a sign that this isn't U.S. television, because if it were, she would have either kept the baby or miscarried so she wouldn't have had to choose (unless this was a Very Special Episode about abortion). I liked that she did have an abortion (...um, as awful as that sounds) because it makes sense to the storyline and what we've seen of her character.

My favorite part of the episode was totally Tony and Sid's goodbye. Ugh, just... Tony's face after Sid leaves the second time, watching the door go by and Sid not coming back, and... his face just crumples and he's tearing up and oh man, Tony! I love Tony and Sid's friendship so much. I loved the "three things" Tony had to tell Sid. They're awesome.

So I was really proud of myself for memorizing the 126 film terms I have to memorize for my film vocab test on Tuesday yesterday afternoon. I knew there were a couple of terms left in the book that I hadn't made flashcards for, but I thought I had it mostly done. So after dinner, I started making flashcards for the terms I had missed, and it turned out I had 48 terms left to memorize. ...ha. Awesome.

Add this on to the fact that my final Drugs and Society test was supposed to be this coming Friday and I had my studying for that, this film vocab test, and writing my English paper all planned out for this weekend until the professor was like "What, Friday? Sorry, it's on Wednesday! We start presentations on Friday!" which NO ONE in the class had a CLUE about, and the fact that I have no idea what book I'm writing about for my paper, this weekend is going totally wonderfully.

Also, yesterday was Springfest, where a bunch of bands play all day and there are bouncy castles and... that's about all I could tell from watching from the windows in the library. Which would have been totally fun to go to, except I was stuck in the library all afternoon studying. ugh. Why did it have to be THIS weekend. Worst weekend EVER.

Anyways, time to finish memorizing film vocab, make and memorize Drugs and Society flashcards, and write my English paper. Have I mentioned how AWESOME these last few weeks of the semester are? The only thing getting me through is knowing that there are now only 2 1/2 weeks left of school and the past few weeks have gone by really quickly, so hopefully these weeks will go by just as fast.
