All right, so I'm done with my first day of classes!

German: I really like this class. I think it was my favorite of the day. I already learned a little (very little) German, which was fun. It's a small class (about 9-10 people), and I think it's going to get even smaller since like 3 of the people in it have already had German. One had a semester and a half 4 years ago, so I can understand her maybe taking it, and the other might have also only had a year, but the third person took it for 3 years and did a study abroad thing in Germany for like a semester. wtf? Why would you take Elementary German if you took it for that long? You should at least be at Intermediate, I would think, even if you're unsure of your skills. But whatever. He suggested to all of them that they try Accelerated German (which is basically 2 semesters of Elementary German packed into 1 semester), so they might all leave for that. Also, I was really excited that I had no classes on Tuesday, but then I got switched into the Tuesday afternoon German lab since the labs were split up 5, 2, and 0, and he wanted it to be more spread out and I was one of only two other people who could actually do it Tuesday afternoon. The other girl though is one of the ones who has had German before, so I might be in that lab alone which would be... weird. I hope that doesn't happen. Especially since I talked to her a little and she seems nice. But yeah, overall, I really liked the class.

Research in Psychology: The professor seems cool and I vaguely know several people in the class. It's a lot more about statistics than I thought it would be. Like, our textbook is basically a statistics book and we're going to have problem sets from it and all that. That's fine with me, though, since I'm good at math and I was expecting the class to be more like my Intro Psych lab. And we only have 2 big-ish lab reports, so that's nice.

Developmental Psychology: I was a little unsure of this class since my roommate last year had a class from the same professor and said that she's not that great of a professor (although she isn't terrible, either). But I ended up liking it. At least, so far. It might turn out to be worse than I expected. It seems really loaded with projects, though. Thankfully there are no big research papers or anything. There are 2 5-page papers, but they're not research papers or anything, more like reaction papers on a book we read. Actually, one of them might be a research paper; I forget. But whatever, no huge papers due at the end of the semester this year, which is nice after last semester. Hopefully it'll be a good class.

Multivariable Calculus: I don't know, I was looking forward to this class and the professor was supposed to be awesome, but I'm not sure. It could be good. He's a lot older than I was expecting, for some reason (he said this is his 52nd year teaching calculus, which... yeah). We'll see, I guess. The class is filled with first-years which is kind of surprising to me for some reason. I thought it'd be more balanced out, I guess.

Anyways, pretty good first day, overall. On Thursdays I only have my Research in Psych lab, but there are no labs the first week of classes, so I had no classes today. It was really weird for some reason. I mean, it shouldn't feel any different than a Saturday or Sunday, but I guess it was the fact that everyone else was walking around going to classes and I got to just hang out and do nothing. Well, I didn't do nothing. My room was pretty much a mess (I basically just dumped my boxes that were in storage and suitcases on the floor and everything was kind of in disarray), and now it's much better. Not done, though. I'll work on it more this afternoon after I finish calc homework. I mentioned it in my short post yesterday, but it bears repeating: my room is ridiculously small. I have pictures, but I don't know if they can really convey how tiny it is. It is really nice not having a roommate, though, even though I lucked out and got a good roommate last year. I need to decorate so it looks less depressing, though. Allposters.com was having a 4.98 sale (plus a 20% off coupon code for no reason) so I bought 6 posters: 2 from The Office, one from Dexter, and 3 black and white of Paris, Central Park in 1961, and the Golden Gate Bridge. I already have a few other posters so hopefully it'll make the room look better. I'm going to post pictures of the room after everything's set up. Also, I have pictures of a duck and her baby ducklings randomly from the trip so I will probably also post those because they are adorable.

Lastly, I went to Barnes and Noble with my parents on Tuesday and I was looking at the DVDs and they had Dexter Season 1 for 40% off plus 10% off because my dad's a member and it was only $40 to begin with, so I got it since... yeah. Dexter for only $20! Good deal. I also got a book bag with Stephen Colbert on it which is awesome.

All right, off to do homework and straighten up my room more and then watch the last night of the Democratic National Convention!
