Ugh, my internet has been down since yesterday afternoon. No idea when it'll be working again. I can get internet in the library, but I've been having issues with it, and the library is on-campus and definitely more inconvenient than being able to use the internet in my room, and I feel weird watching TV shows on Hulu (which is where I watch most of my TV) in the library. Plus, as I said, I have issues with the library internet, so I don't know if I'd even be able to watch an entire show in there. I really hope it's not out for too long.

Anyways, I finished Fringe yesterday! I... really didn't do much of any work yesterday. But when I woke up I was tired and I was just going to watch an episode or two before starting studying for my Discrete Math test, and then in the early afternoon, I started feeling sick so I kept lying in bed, watching TV, and then I was done by 6 PM and I STILL felt tired and weak and kind of nauseous. It just got worse as the day went on. So I half-heartedly studied for an hour or two and then I actually went to bed (and managed to fall asleep!) by 10:30 PM. Which... it takes me forever to fall alseep no matter how tired I am normally, and I haven't gone to bed that early since high school (and even then, that was only because I was sick). The fact that I fell asleep that early that quickly means that I was probably pretty sick. And then I slept in this morning and somehow slept through my alarm. Or turned it off in my sleep or something, I don't know. But in any case, I'm feeling better now, I think. A little tired, but not nauseous anymore. But since I finished Fringe yesterday, I have random thoughts:

This show is definitely way more interesting when whatever's going on has to do with the overall mythology of the show. The few episodes I saw the first time I tried watching this show were all more standalone and although they were slightly related to Massive Dynamic, for the most part, they were just boring mystery-of-the-week type episodes. But the stuff about ZFT and Jones and John Scott are so much more interesting, and really make me want to keep watching.

I'm liking Olivia more this time. She still doesn't have much of a personality, but at least she doesn't have, like... a BAD personality. She's not annoying or obnoxious or anything. She's just kind of there. But they've developed her a little, and there have been times she's been really kickass. Like escaping from her kidnappers herself and not needing anyone to rescue her. And when she was laying the smackdown on... someone in the same episode.

I love Peter. I loved him the first time I watched, too, since, I mean, JOSHUA JACKSON. He's a large part of the reason I watched past the pilot last time, and a large part of why I had any interest in trying to get into the show again. And I love his relationship with Walter. I'm totally waiting for the moment when he finally calls Walter "Dad."

I really enjoyed everything involving John Scott! I don't know why! I wanted more of him. He reminds me SO MUCH of Bryce Larkin (from Chuck). He's the guy in the first episode that you think dies but really doesn't (...ok, John kind of does. But his consciousness is still around afterwards, and he pops up more than you would expect after the pilot) and who you think is a traitor or working for an evil organization, but is really doing something good and trying to help people! And who used to have a (secret!) relationship with the lead female character (who happens to part of a government organization, although Olivia is FBI and Sarah is... what, CIA? I think? It's been too long since I've watched Chuck!). And for both of them, I don't want to like them, but I do! So yeah, watching this show is actually making me want to watch Chuck. I will probably rewatch Chuck before season 3 begins, but who knows when that'll happen. I'm thinking over winter break, but that's so far away that I might not have interest in doing that by the time this semester is actually open.

One of my issues is that the secondary characters are so underdeveloped. Astrid is in every episode and involved in everything, but we know NOTHING about her. She's just always... there. And Charlie, I had no idea what was going on with him. At the beginning I thought he was evil (I expect almost everyone to be evil other than Olivia, Peter, and Walter), but then he kept the secret about Olivia's relationship with John, and then I thought he was secretly in love with her up until the point where they showed us that he was happily married. So... what? He's just a good, decent person? That confuses me greatly, for some reason! I guess I'm just not very trusting. But I actually really like his character, too. He's a great friend to Olivia, and, as I said, a good person. AND THEN I GUESS THEY KILLED HIM OFF. ugh. I mean, I realized the shapeshifter took on his form and got rid of the body, and I think the body was going into an incinerator or something. So I'm assuming he's gone. Which I don't like, since I liked his character! I disapprove. Maybe they can bring the Charlie from the alternate universe over, like Walter brought Peter over, and then everything will be okay!

Anyways, overall, I liked it much more this time around. I'm not like... super-invested (they'd need to have some couple for me to ship, and there really hasn't been anything yet), but I'm definitely intrigued and will continue watching.
