Aug. 6th, 2005 12:05 amI have pictures! Many, many pictures. I took 55, Annie took like... 49. So, yeah. Dial-up users, beware.

Annie, while we were waiting in line.

Staples Center! ...yes, we were bored. Just wait until you see this one of Annie's pictures of the guy (...well, part of him) in front of us.

Hee. This shot makes me giggle. I was attempting to take a picture of the two of us when we were inside, waiting for it to start, but I forgot that I had zoomed all the way in to take pictures of the people skateboarding at practice, so... this was how the pictures came out.

Sandro Dias! Not the best quality picture. We were actually pretty close to the ramp, but I had to use digital zoom to get large enough pictures of people, and... digital zoom sucks. So, yeah. That's why a lot of these aren't that great of quality.

Shaun White.

Bob Burnquist. omg his hair has gotten so long! It's hard to tell in this picture, but he actually tucked all the hair into his helmet. After his last (amazing!) run, he took off his helmet and geez, his hair is long.Too long. I prefered the length it was last year. Yes, I am discussing Bob Burnquist's hair length. omgiamtooobsessed.

From left to right, Rune Gliffberg, Jake Brown, Andy Macdonald, Buster Halterman, and Sandro Dias. This was right before the event officially started. When it starts, all the lights go off and there are shiny lights and all the skateboarders stand in a row and this guy introduces them all. So, that's why they're all in a row.

This is what I was talking about, with the lights off and them in a row and all. Not bothering listing them all, since it's hard to see who's who.

Andy Macdonald.

Jake Brown.

Rune Gliffberg.

Bob Burnquist, doing the equivalent of clapping for another skateboarder with a skateboard.

Shaun White. It's kind of blurry, and I wouldn't have included it, except I noticed that Bob Burnquist is off to the side watching Shaun and he's clear and... hi. Fangirl over Burnquist. So, included this picture. Besides, it's not nearly as blurry as some of the pictures I took.

Shaun White.

Pierre-Luc Gagnon, I believe. You can see Andy Macdonald watching him to the right.

Bucky Lasek. Incredibly crappy quality, I know.

Andy Macdonald.

Sandro Dias and Bob Burnquist. Oh my fucking god, this was the cutest thing ever. See, Bob Burnquist was on the left side and Sandro Dias was on the right. Between runs, Bob saw Sandro on the other side and skated down the pipe over to the other side. When he got to Sandro, he totally put his arm around Sandro's waist and gave him the absolute cutest hug ever. omg. I wish I'd gotten a picture of it, but I didn't expect it at all. So adorable together. Not that I slash them together, or anything.Bob/Bucky is totally my OTP, anyways. (Sad thing is, I'm completely serious.) omg so fucking cute. And hee! I love the height difference between them.

Rune Gliffberg.

Rune Gliffberg.

Rune Gliffberg. omg I love this shot. I know it's blurry, but I love how I got it right as he was doing the... thing. On the side. Um, yeah. I may go totally obsessive over the X Games, but I barely know any of the technical names for the tricks. I just like watching it. But yeah, I love this shot.

Bob Burnquist and Sandro Dias.

Bucky Lasek! Wheee, I like this shot.

Bob Burnquist. Ok, this shot is completely blurry, but I still liked it anyways.

Bob Burnquist. Missed what I meant to take a picture of, but... I like how it looks. It's how I like to crop icons, these days. So, I kept the pic.

Bob Burnquist. Ok, I honestly didn't realize how many pictures I was taking of him durnig the event.

Sandro Dias.

Sandro Dias.

Pierre-Luc Gagnon

Bob Burnquist and Andy Macdonald.omg Bob, you slut! Bucky, Sandro, and now Andy too?!

Bucky Lasek. This may be my absolute favorite shot. In many of the shots, the skater turned out incredibly blurry (I probably deleted as many pics for blurriness as I have posted here) while the background would be clear, but I love that in this one, Bucky's clear while the background's a blur. Awesome.

Bucky Lasek.

Bucky Lasek.

Buster Halterman. I know it seems like I was really biased in taking pictures and only took them of my favorite skateboarders, but I honestly did take a good number of Buster, Tas, and Jake. They all just ended up incredibly blurry, so I deleted them. I mean, Shaun's one of my favorite skateboarders, but I don't have many of him since they all turned out really blurry. So, yeah. I would have more of the others, but... those pictures all sucked.

Andy Macdonald.

Andy Macdonald.

Jake Brown.

Jake Brown, waving off the fall in his last run.

Rune Gliffberg.

Rune Gliffberg.

Bob Burnquist.

Bob Burnquist.

Sandro Dias.

Sandro Dias.

Shaun White. wheee, I like this shot.

Pierre-Luc Gagnon.

Bob Burnquist, watching Pierre-Luc Gagnon's run.

Bob Burnquist. omg LOOK HOW LONG HIS HAIR IS! geez.

Bucky Lasek.

Pierre-Luc Gagnon, right before the awarding of the medals.

Sandro Dias with his bronze medal. I had wanted to get shots of all the medal-winners when they got their medals, but my camera completely died and refused to start up again until about half an hour later in the car. blah. But I like this shot, at least. Even though it's pretty grainy.

Annie, in the car playing with her digital camera on the way back, once my digital camera decided to finally turn on again.
All right, now for Annie's pictures. They're from her digital camera, and she resized them and uploaded them and all that, so that's why they look different from my pictures.

Guy standing in front of us in line. The back of his jeans amused us. ...we were pretty bored standing in line.

Annie and me. ...psh, I like the picture I took better.

The vert ramp.

Rune Gliffberg

Andy Macdonald. omg I love this shot!

Jake Brown.

Sandro Dias.

Jake Brown.

Sandro Dias and Pierre-Luc Gagnon.

Rune Gliffberg. ...I feel like I keep spelling his name wrong, and there's only one "f" in his last name. Oh well.

Pierre-Luc Gagnon.

Bob Burnquist.

Buster Halterman and... I think that's actually Bob Burnquist. I could be wrong. It's hard to tell from this angle, but his helmet was the whitest of all of the helmets, so I think that's him.

Skaters in a row. By now, you can probably tell who's who.

Lights at the top of the stadium when all the skaters were introduced.

Bob Burnquist and Andy Macdonald.

Sandro Dias.

Andy Macdonald and someone (Shaun White?) skating.

Bob Burnquist.

Rune Glifberg. (I checked. It is one "f". Too lazy to go back and change them all.)

Rune Glifberg.

Jake Brown.

Sandro Dias.

Pierre-Luc Gagnon.

The crowd. It didn't feel like there were that many people there when we were there, but... there were loads.

Bucky Lasek.

Jake Brown.

Buster Halterman, after his last run. He was pleased with it, to say the least.

Buster Halterman.

Rune Glifberg.

Sandro Dias.

Andy Macdonald.

Andy Macdonald.

Annie squishing Sandro Dias with her fingers.

I have no fucking clue who this is, but I'd bet that it's Shaun White.

The screen where we could see what was going on at the other part of the ramp.

Sandro Dias.

Pierre-Luc Gagnon.
Lastly, an animation Annie made from two pictures of Andy Macdonald she took. Even if you don't watch skateboarding or care about any of this in the slightest, you have to see this animation. It is awesome.

Most awesome thing ever, omg. [loves]
All right, that's all. Expect more picspam tomorrow! :D

Date: 2005-08-07 02:45 am (UTC)I've always actually wanted to learn how to skateboard, but I've stepped on a skateboard like... twice in my life, and both times I couldn't even get more than one foot on the board without falling off immediately. So yeah, I think I'll stick with watching from the sidelines.
