Sep. 16th, 2005 09:22 pmSo, it turns out that George Bush pre-empted Reunion with some sort of speech, so it didn't air anywhere. Unfortunately, for some reason my DVR player didn't record The O.C. (or that night's The Daily Show ep. Makes me think that I just ran out of room in my saved shows, so it couldn't save them), so I had to download that. But that didn't take too long.
Ok, first thing, seriously, does every show ever have to portray "preppy" girls with button-down shirts and a fucking sweater tied around their neck? I live in Orange County, and I'm a year below the main characters, and I've never once seen anyone in real life wear anything like that. It's ridiculous. I mean, am I missing something? Is there these hordes of teenagers who dress like that but hide from me whenever I start walking near them? geez. It just seems so unrealistic, because no teenage girl I've met would ever be caught dead wearing something like that.
Other than that, I enjoyed it. It's still not up to the quality as most of the season 1 episodes, but it's better than last season, I don't feel bored during the episode, I don't think about the episodes like "...eh... I don't know if I really feel like watching this", and that's really all that I'm looking for from the show right now.
I don't like the Charlotte storyline. I'm so happy with how Kandy's been in these two episodes, especially when Sandy and Kirsten reunited at the cabin, and I hate third parties coming to fuck it up. bleh.
Marissa was an idiot for saying that she didn't regret shooting Trey, and Ryan was even more of an idiot for punching the Dean. I understand both of their reasoning, but that doesn't make it any less stupid. Any pride you have or revenge you want to take is nothing compared to what holding back would do in the long run. I mean, expulsion is going to be a horrible blemish on their records. I know that college isn't essential for doing well in the real world, but you have to admit that it definitely does help. Then again, it is a teenage drama, so all four of them will probably end up getting accepted to USC and UCLA. Or UCI! Hee. That would be great, actually. And it's way closer to Newport than USC and UCLA! It's not a bad school, either. And then I can be like "OMG RYAN AND MARISSA AND SETH AND SUMMER GO TO COLLEGE 1 MILE AWAY FROM ME!" ...yeah. I'm a dork. Moving on.
I like Seth a lot more this season so far. He still has some ass-ish qualities, but he's a lot better. I like him acknowledging that little things become huge things in his and Summer's relationship, and it's better to deal with them sooner than later, but now I just hope that he remembers that later on in the season. I also really like Seth/Summer, but god, would they kiss already? I mean, they barely even act like they're a couple. Meanwhile, Marissa/Ryan have like 5 kisses each episode. Geez, they're finally back together and not arguing over a fucking comic book every 2 seconds and Zach has ceased to exist, so why won't they act like a couple again?! bah.
I love Jimmy, and I love Julie, and I love Jimmy/Julie, but my god, is the only way they can think of involving Jimmy in the show with money issues? Honestly. Season 1, all about that. Then once things settled down in season 2, he just... had no purpose, so he was gone. And now he came back, and I was so fucking happy about it in the finale, and now they're ruining it. I mean, he's going to be gone in a few episodes. I'm not spoiled for it, but it just seems like... inevitable. sigh. Besides, he's not in the opening credits. I don't see it being likely that he'd stick around all season.
...mmkay. I guess that's it.
If you haven't heard, Governor Schwarzenegger had this bill or something passed banning soda being sold in high schools, in addition to other fatty and sugar-y things. I'd get pissed off about this, except for two things: A) It doesn't go into effect until July 2007, and that's right after I graduate, so it doesn't affect me in the slightest. B) Even if it did affect me now, I rarely buy soda at school anyways, usually water (and they'll obviously still be selling that), and more days than not my mom lets me take the car to school, so I could just go off-campus and get soda/junk food anyways. I feel kind of bad for the lower grades, though, but eh. The intention of him doing this is actually good, but it's going to be pointless. Well, I don't know about other schools, but seeing as we can go off-campus during lunch (well, with parent permission, but most people get it, and they don't really check your ID cards to make sure you have permission), we can get junk food and soda anyways. If people are that desperate for it, they'll get it anyways. And a lot of high school students have jobs, and their own money, so they can just get soda and junk after school. I mean, he's all "I want to root out obesity and unhealthiness early" but... well, this isn't going to solve that. Meh, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see it working. Too many ways to easily get around it.
