So, it turns out that George Bush pre-empted Reunion with some sort of speech, so it didn't air anywhere. Unfortunately, for some reason my DVR player didn't record The O.C. (or that night's The Daily Show ep. Makes me think that I just ran out of room in my saved shows, so it couldn't save them), so I had to download that. But that didn't take too long.
Ok, first thing, seriously, does every show ever have to portray "preppy" girls with button-down shirts and a fucking sweater tied around their neck? I live in Orange County, and I'm a year below the main characters, and I've never once seen anyone in real life wear anything like that. It's ridiculous. I mean, am I missing something? Is there these hordes of teenagers who dress like that but hide from me whenever I start walking near them? geez. It just seems so unrealistic, because no teenage girl I've met would ever be caught dead wearing something like that.
Other than that, I enjoyed it. It's still not up to the quality as most of the season 1 episodes, but it's better than last season, I don't feel bored during the episode, I don't think about the episodes like "...eh... I don't know if I really feel like watching this", and that's really all that I'm looking for from the show right now.
I don't like the Charlotte storyline. I'm so happy with how Kandy's been in these two episodes, especially when Sandy and Kirsten reunited at the cabin, and I hate third parties coming to fuck it up. bleh.
Marissa was an idiot for saying that she didn't regret shooting Trey, and Ryan was even more of an idiot for punching the Dean. I understand both of their reasoning, but that doesn't make it any less stupid. Any pride you have or revenge you want to take is nothing compared to what holding back would do in the long run. I mean, expulsion is going to be a horrible blemish on their records. I know that college isn't essential for doing well in the real world, but you have to admit that it definitely does help. Then again, it is a teenage drama, so all four of them will probably end up getting accepted to USC and UCLA. Or UCI! Hee. That would be great, actually. And it's way closer to Newport than USC and UCLA! It's not a bad school, either. And then I can be like "OMG RYAN AND MARISSA AND SETH AND SUMMER GO TO COLLEGE 1 MILE AWAY FROM ME!" ...yeah. I'm a dork. Moving on.
I like Seth a lot more this season so far. He still has some ass-ish qualities, but he's a lot better. I like him acknowledging that little things become huge things in his and Summer's relationship, and it's better to deal with them sooner than later, but now I just hope that he remembers that later on in the season. I also really like Seth/Summer, but god, would they kiss already? I mean, they barely even act like they're a couple. Meanwhile, Marissa/Ryan have like 5 kisses each episode. Geez, they're finally back together and not arguing over a fucking comic book every 2 seconds and Zach has ceased to exist, so why won't they act like a couple again?! bah.
I love Jimmy, and I love Julie, and I love Jimmy/Julie, but my god, is the only way they can think of involving Jimmy in the show with money issues? Honestly. Season 1, all about that. Then once things settled down in season 2, he just... had no purpose, so he was gone. And now he came back, and I was so fucking happy about it in the finale, and now they're ruining it. I mean, he's going to be gone in a few episodes. I'm not spoiled for it, but it just seems like... inevitable. sigh. Besides, he's not in the opening credits. I don't see it being likely that he'd stick around all season.
...mmkay. I guess that's it.
If you haven't heard, Governor Schwarzenegger had this bill or something passed banning soda being sold in high schools, in addition to other fatty and sugar-y things. I'd get pissed off about this, except for two things: A) It doesn't go into effect until July 2007, and that's right after I graduate, so it doesn't affect me in the slightest. B) Even if it did affect me now, I rarely buy soda at school anyways, usually water (and they'll obviously still be selling that), and more days than not my mom lets me take the car to school, so I could just go off-campus and get soda/junk food anyways. I feel kind of bad for the lower grades, though, but eh. The intention of him doing this is actually good, but it's going to be pointless. Well, I don't know about other schools, but seeing as we can go off-campus during lunch (well, with parent permission, but most people get it, and they don't really check your ID cards to make sure you have permission), we can get junk food and soda anyways. If people are that desperate for it, they'll get it anyways. And a lot of high school students have jobs, and their own money, so they can just get soda and junk after school. I mean, he's all "I want to root out obesity and unhealthiness early" but... well, this isn't going to solve that. Meh, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see it working. Too many ways to easily get around it.

Date: 2005-09-17 04:42 am (UTC)Marissa's just stupid. Ryan's stupid too. They're stupid together. And no doubt the R/M shippers will count their stupidity as one of the billions of reasons why Ryrissa is the numba one OTP FOH LYFE! [I'd use excessive exclamation marks and ones, but I don't feel like it right now.]
And yes, there's not enough S/S.
Poor Jimmy.
I can never spell Schwarzenegger correctly. It's sad.

Date: 2005-09-17 04:55 am (UTC)I know. bleh. I don't hate Ryan/Marissa, but they're not really helping me like them. At least Mischa Barton is acting a lot better than she was during season 1. sigh.
Heh, neither can I. I'm not even positive that I did. I think it's right, though.

Date: 2005-09-17 09:51 am (UTC)Ryan and Marissa are annoying. They were better apart, together, its a multitude of angst that I don't care for. I like her hair though.

Date: 2005-09-17 09:28 pm (UTC)Heh, I agree. They're actually less annoying together than they were in season 1 for me, but they still kind of annoy me. I do like Mischa's hair, though, too.

Date: 2005-09-17 05:38 pm (UTC)I loved Summer through the entire episode. She was so great in trying to keep the carnival and Marissa's social chair away from Taylor, but you have to wonder if Taylor was being honest when she was saying she did all the work. That's how things went in my school, so maybe it's true, which pisses me off, but whatever.
I don't mind Ryan and Marissa together. I really like Ryan a whole lot, but Marissa -meh. But if they want to be expelled together than whatever. Though I did think that the Dean was crazy evil.
Seth and Summer, They def. need to kiss, you are so right. Yes Seth is better, and I think the writers are doing little things to show that he is still a little self centered but not totally. Like the trash thing. Ryan asked him to help and ended up having to go back for the other bag as Seth kept talking oblivious to it all.
I enjoy reading your thoughts on the show because you show some things from a different angle than I was percieving them.

Date: 2005-09-17 09:34 pm (UTC)I liked Ryan a lot in season 1, and there were times during season 2 when I was liking him way better than Seth, but so far this season I haven't been too fond of him. Marissa I've never really liked, except for a few occasions. I do feel sorry for her now, though, because she only shot off the gun to save Ryan. And plus, Trey did try to rape her. It's not as he was really a fine upstanding gentleman. The Dean thing didn't make sense to me, since he was suddenly against Ryan and Marissa without even knowing them. I mean, what sort of new person decides to randomly have an agenda against another?
Aw, thanks, I'm glad you like reading my thoughts. That's why I always enjoy reading everyone's responses too, because they all bring up different things than I thought.
