May. 10th, 2006 05:55 pm1. I see a lot of people saying they're confused about how Logan and Veronica got together, and how Veronica went from being "OMG MY FATHER IS DEAD!!!!!!!" one night to "I LOVE LOGAN YAY KISSING!" the next, and I just wanted to give my persepctive on everything. First off, I'm surprised people think it went so quickly. Because I don't know about you, but I assumed a least a week had passed. At graduation they talked about going to New York "next week" or "next Tuesday". I saw one person say that their graduations take place on weekends and so next Tuesday to them would mean a week from the upcoming Tuesday, meaning over a week would've taken place. At my school, actually, graduation is on the Monday before underclassmen take finals (which, btw, is not much fun for the underclassmen in band who have finals the next 3 days but also have to spend several hours playing Pomp and Circumstance 5 billion times for the ceremony), so next Tuesday would presumably be a week from the next day, still allowing over a week until the New York trip.
So basically, I saw at least a week passing between finding out her dad was alive and making out with Logan. Now, a week might not seem like much, but it wasn't as sudden as it may have seemed, and also, Logan saved her life. I mean, remember what happened when Logan saved her life in WOCD (well, ok, she wasn't actually in danger, but they didn't know that)? Kissage! I mean, even after finding Kendall in his room, in the next episode they started talking again and they were still a lot closer than they were at the beginning of the season. And, as I already said, he saved her life! He was there for her when she thought her dad had been blow up! I'm assuming that between that night and going to New York City, they talked. She did say that she and Logan were supposed to talk in the car on the way to the airport, but I would assume that they had also talked in between that time. Plus, an experience like that brings people together. I actually kind of pictured them talking a lot in that time and getting back together, but her whole "We're supposed to talk" line kind of... goes against that? I still believe, though, that they at least spent time together and maybe not talked about what they were supposed to talk about in the car, but other stuff. ...am I making any sense? Because I kind of feel like I'm not, and while I'm more coherent than I was last night, this episode still kind of makes me go "HOLY SHIT OMFG BRAIN EXPLODING!".
Lastly, I actually saw the kiss as not the first, but that they had been kissing/back together for a couple of days at least. But then I saw a lot of people were thinking that they hadn't kissed before that, but Logan just couldn't help himself and Veronica just kind of went with it because she felt the same way. And while I didn't see it that way while watching the episode, I'm starting to really love that theory. I just kind of find it awesome. Even with that, I still choose to believe they spent time together during the week (which, I mean, I would think they would've had to have some contact other than "Hey, Logan, want to take me to the airport even though my dad's going and I don't need a ride? Also, can we talk?" when nothing's happened between them since he left her house that morning) and so at that point it was just kind of... inevitable that he would kiss her, and he just couldn't wait any longer, especially with her going to New York for an entire week, and all.
One last thing about the fastness, I kind of see it as throwing a bone to the V/L shippers. Veronica Mars's renewal for season 3 is not for sure, and if this episode really was the last episode of VM that will ever be shown, then at least those shippers can get their happy V/L ending. I'm hoping that, if it does get a third season, they'll be able to address the relationship better and not as... fast-paced, I guess. (Please, please, please don't let it be another "Uh, yeah, we made out a lot during the summer, and then Logan started getting scary, so we broke up" all told in the first episode. Because I could even handle that if we actually got to SEE it happen, but just telling us about it is cheap. We've never really gotten to see a relationship between them develop, just them being all lustful towards each other and making out a lot. I really want to see them as a couple.)
Any of that make any sense? Because it's perfectly clear to me in my mind, I just suck at conveying everything I'm thinking.
2. A lot of people don't understand why Logan said "I'm so sorry" when Veronica woke up that morning even though Keith was home. That confused the hell out of me too at first, but then someone explained how they saw it, and it made a lot of sense to me. Basically, Keith came home in like... the early morning, and Logan had crashed on their couch. So, Logan was sleeping when Keith came home. Then Keith went to get some sleep himself and so he was asleep when Logan woke up and started making bacon. So when Veronica came out, Logan was consoling her because he didn't know Keith was alive and in the next room. I don't think I explained it as well as I saw someone else explain it, but I think that's the only theory that makes sense to me.
3. A lot of people I've also seen are like "WTF HOW COULD BEAVER BECOME SUCH A SOCIOPATH IN SO SHORT OF A TIME?!" My opinion on this is that he was fine, able to keep it all in, until he saw that someone suspected him. That just completely set him off. When no one had any idea that he was guilty, he was absolutely fine. It was just Veronica finding out that made him kind of snap.
4. Another issue I've come up with after thinking about the episode more: why the hell did Beaver have the gun? He had no reason to believe that he'd have any use for it, unless he was planning to kill Mac after sleeping with her. Which, I guess I can sort of fanwank that. But honestly, I see no reason for him to have brought the gun, other than because they needed to have it for the rooftop scene.
Despite that quibble, though, I still love the episode to a ridiculous degree. I don't know if it's my favorite episode of VM, because there are so many good ones, but one thing I really love about it is just that... it really tied everything up in season 2 nicely. I mean, there are still a couple loose ends, but overall, I think it was very well done. Especially since I was really doubting they'd be able to address everything and tie everything up. It also makes me like season 2 as a whole a lot more. I do feel the first half of the season was kind of slow and they could've done a lot more with it, but at the same time I never hated it as much as a lot of people seemed to, and I still like how that now I know all this, the first half of season 2 will be even more enjoyable, what with Curly Moran and Beaver and all of that.
We really shouldn't have to go to class the day after an episode like that. Honestly, how can I be expected to think coherently? I absorbed absolutely nothing during English today, I was totally just obsessing over the episode. sigh. I might regret this once finals roll around and I actually have to know all the stuff I was taught today.
