Ah, I love this show. I'm so glad I finally got to watch the second half of it.

Let me just say, I love Ricky. He is totally my favorite character. I mean, I love all the characters for the most part, but Ricky just... sigh.

Ok, so I haven't read anyone else's opinions on the show (I mean other than knowing that people really like it and all) so I don't know whether people are more into Angela/Jordan or Angela/Brian. And the thing is, I feel like I'm supposed to like Angela/Brian. Like, I mean, that's who I should like. The whole... friend pining from afar and her finally realizing his feelings while this other guy hurt her and she sees this first guy in a whole new light now and I should want them to get together. But, I just... don't. I really, really love Angela and Jordan together, and I don't know why.

Part of it is I think because I just don't like Brian much. He's kind of creepy sometimes, and he's really irritating other times, and I like him when he's being friends with Ricky, but I just don't like him with Angela. And Jordan is totally not perfect. I know this. And he did a shitty thing sleeping with Rayanne, and I don't excuse that or anything. But I do think he really does care for her. And I love how in the pilot she's the one all into him and he doesn't have much of a clue who she is, and now in the finale she's trying to ignore him while he's the one pursuing her. I just... I don't know. I love that.

Also, on a more totally superficial note, the first place I ever saw Jared Leto was as Jordan, while the first place I ever saw Devon Gummersall (the actor who plays Brian) was as the guy who date-raped Julie on Felicity. So, you know. First impressions and all.

Mostly, though, I just don't really have a reason, I guess. I just like Jordan better. And so part of me is kind of glad, honestly, that the show ended where it did, so I can pretend that Angela and Jordan get to date happily for a little while. Because I'm like 99% sure if it had continued, Angela and Brian would get together at some point, and they could even like end up together. So at least this way I can just ignore that and choose to believe Angela and Jordan stay together.

I kind of hated the whole Cyrano storyline in the finale. Just because I could totally see what was coming. And because man... if Jordan had just said what he said to her mom to her, he wouldn't need Brian. That would've been enough, I think (along with telling her how sorry he was). Which, by the way, those scenes between Jordan and Angela's mom might've just been my favorite scenes in the entire series, because those were awesome.

Anyways, so as I said I'm not much of a fan of Brian. I also don't really like Danielle, because she just doesn't seem to have any purpose. But I love everyone else. And it really was an excellent show. Just, yeah. Awesome.

So yeah, I guess I just really wanted to talk about Angela/Jordan and Angela/Brian. I have absolutely no idea if I'm in the majority or minority with this, but I'm guessing minority. Because, I mean, I can definitely see why people would prefer Brian with Angela. I'm just not one of them.


Anyways, while I work on getting Strangers With Candy, I think I'm going to rewatch all 5 seasons of Queer as Folk, since I've been meaning to do that since December and I've only seen all the episodes once (except for 122, I guess) and I've had the urge to watch them again recently. So, yeah.

MSCL - my fave show OF ALL TIME!!! So totally all about Angela/Jordan. The thought of liking Angela/Brian has never crossed my mind. Ew. Brian is sooo creepy. Ugh...you have forced me to want to watch the last half of the season. Squee!! I've been trying to figure out what show to watch now. I need something to watch until fall premieres start. Thanks.

I know, it's so good! Ah, yay, I'm glad I'm not the only one then. I mean, I don't actually know how most people feel about them, but I just kind of assumed more people would like Angela/Brian for some reason. But yeah, I totally agree, Brian creeps me out.

MSCL :D I didn't really get to watch the show until it was in syndication last year, but when I finally did I fell instantly in love with it. I really consider myself an Angela/Jordan shipper all the way, so you're not weird lol (at least to me)...I think that Angela/Brian would be a more rational ship, especially because they have so much in common...but there's just something about it all that makes me feel like Angela is slightly repulsed by him at times. I actually think Brian's a decent character and there is one brilliant episode where we get to see into his mind, but he just never did it for me. Maybe it's because I'll always be the girl who falls for the wrong guy lol, I don't know.

Yeah, I thought more people would be into Angela/Brian just because it does seem like a more rational ship, and maybe because they feel bad for Brian for pining after Angela for so long and her just taking advantage of him. I really don't hate Brian, but he creeps me out and irritates me a lot, so I don't really like him either. The finale made me like him more because I do sympathize with him, but I still wanted her with Jordan.

i LOVE ricky. he's just so sweet and fucked up. he's kind of actually the only character that i really really love (angela is second).

i don't know for sure, but i really don't think you're in the minority with angela/jordan. personally, i hate jordan catalano, because i just don't think we ever got to a point where he had really changed. but, you know, if the show had lasted longer, i suspect eventually i would've fallen in love with him just as i've fallen in love with all those bad boys before him. but at the same time, i don't really like brian either, and i don't think angela would ever see him as more than her geeky neighbor, and i feel like the writers would have been more intelligent than to put them together.

I know, I totally love him. He has all these problems, but he only ever seems to be worried about everyone else. And he's so sweet, and just... awesome.

Yeah, I really never got any feelings from Angela for Brian other than a slight friendship (and even then she generally doesn't want to spend much time with him). I can see them gradually working to real friends, but not anything more. I can totally see where you or anyone else would hate Jordan. I don't even know why I like him, really, I just do.

I actually haven't seen MSCL since it originally aired and I was fifteen, so my memories are pretty hazy, but I do recall that I was definitely anti-Angela/Brian. And I am the girl who nearly always loves the sweet friend over the bad boy, so I do think that had a lot to with the fact that I also found Brian a bit creepy and annoying.

It is! I've seen every episode only once, and it was over a year ago that I started watching, so it's really fun to watch it from the beginning again. Ah, you should definitely finish the series. So good!

Where are you downloading My So Called Life from?

I love that show, I've only seem a couple of episodes but I really like it! lol I saw the play Tick Tick Boom the other day in LA and guess who was in it! Wilson Cruz the guy who played Ricky!! It was soo awesome and made me really happy! lol He was one of the three people in the play, which was great btw, you should see it because I know you are near LA I think it is playing until Aug 6 and it's basically an autobiography of John Larson the writer of RENT! It has great music too!

Actually, most of the people I know who have seen MSCL seem to be more on the Angela/Jordan side. But I think everyone gets the feeling that we're supposed to like Angela/Brian, whether everyone does or not.
Anyway, I'm with you - Brian is kinda creepy and I find him annoying most of the time.

Ah, really? Yeah, I hadn't actually looked at other people's opinions before posting, so I just assumed that more people would be on the Angela/Brian side just because it seemed like we were supposed to like them. But if we were supposed to like Brian, the writers did a really bad job in my opinion, because he always was just kind of creepy and irritating. He had some good moments, but overall I definitely didn't like him.

I just finished the last episode or MSCL (literally - just this minute) and I've been waiting to read your reactions until then. I personally wanted Angela and Brian to end up together, but my personal shipping preferences pretty much changed with every episode and there were many when I liked her with Jordan. I just want to imagine that they got to the end of the block and she said "Stop the car" and got out and ran back. *is a hopeless romantic* I can see *why* you find Brian creepy and annoying sometimes, but I like him. I tend to root for the underdog, so. I don't know.

I can totally see why anyone might like Angela and Brian together. Normally I think I would go for that kind of pairing, I just happened not to like Brian. But there were some episodes where I did like him more, like in the episode where he did the voiceover and the season finale. And I always liked him a lot more when he was being friends with Ricky. So yeah, while I prefer Angela/Jordan, I can totally see how you could like Angela and Brian.

I watched most of the series like two months ago and I feel the exact same way about Brian/Angela and Angela/Jordan. I feel like I should like B/A but I don't! The fact that Brian seems to be interested (though not as much as he is into Angel) in about any girl that speaks to him bothers me too ...
Jordan isn't perfect, but I like him with her. A lot.

Yeah, I agree. I realize that Jordan has his own problems, but I still like him way more than Brian, and I think he and Angela are sweet together.
