Ah! My parents got a big screen TV for the family room! And it's essentially all mine, since I'm usually the only one to watch anything in the family room, because my mom will either watch TV while she's doing things in the kitchen or my parents will watch in their room since they have a big screen in there. My mom's been talking about getting one in there for like two years now, which, yeah, it's about time, considering the TV in there previously was from like 1985. Or maybe 1990. I don't know. But I can't remember ever having a different TV in there, and I was born in 1989, so there you go.

See the kind of square shaped space under all the DVDs and my DVD, DVR, and VCR players? That's where the old TV used to fit into.

Another view of the family room, from the other side. These are the new couches we got a week or two ago I said I'd post a picture of. I like them more than the old couches visually (although they're less comfortable, in my opinion), but they could be a lot better. Oh well.

Anyways, in honor of the new TV, a meme!
In alphabetical order, rather than preference, since some are ridiculously hard to choose between.

Arrested Development

I'm still depressed over this show being cancelled. AD is my favorite comedy ever (and quite possibly my favorite television show ever). It's just so my kind of humor. There was not a single weak link on the cast, everyone was absolutely brilliant and all deserved tons of emmys and golden globes and such. The writing was always excellent - I can't remember a single episode where I did not laugh out loud at least once, and usually it was far more than just once. I've heard criticisms over season 2, and while I'm not as fond of it as season 1, I still love it. Same with early season 3, and the whole Charlize Theron storyline. And the last 5 or 6 episodes of the third season were just completely brilliant (as is the rest of the show, but those in particular). This show should've lived on for many, many years, but at least we can be glad that we got three seasons of pretty perfect television out of it.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I watched my first episode of Buffy when I was like... 8 or 9, I think. It was What's My Line Pt. 2 and I didn't really understand much of it (my babysitter was watching it for some assignment for one of her classes), but I remembered bits of it. I didn't start watching the show regularly until season 5. But then I did start watching, and I read the transcripts of the first four seasons (and a little after watched them on FX) and absolutely fell in love with the show. There have been moments when I haven't loved it (pretty much all of seasons 6 and 7. Especially 7), but I still think it's brilliant TV. And season 2 of it is quite possibly my favorite season of television ever. There are just so many absolutely amazing episodes that season, and Becoming Pt. 2 is probably my favorite episode of any show ever. Even though I haven't watched it in awhile or really thought about it as much anymore, it's still one of my absolute favorite TV shows ever.

Doctor Who

I never expected to love Doctor Who as much as I did. I mean, I'm totally into science fiction stuff (comes from my mom being a science fiction and fantasy writer, probably), and it was written incredibly well, and it was just fun, so it made sense I'd like it. But it started off just kind of a fun, light, campy show. I never expected it to get as good as it did. The season starts off well, but it really hits its stride with Dalek. From there on, I just love it. I love the Doctor, I love Rose, I love Jack, and they're just brilliant together. And the season finale. God. It absolutely killed me. I didn't like season 2 as much as season 1 (although I do like Ten more than Nine. Weird. But I love Nine perfectly well, too), but I still really enjoyed it, and the season 2 finale was another killer. Yeah. I just totally love this show.

Everwood

I watched this show from the pilot on. I'm not sure why I checked it out, since back then I didn't really look for new shows to watch. But I'm so glad I did, because it's just excellent. There have been characters and storylines I've hated throughout the four seasons, but overall it's really an amazing show. Very good at getting me to become all teary-eyed. The first season was spectacular, and the rest of the seasons were pretty great too. And the acting was all excellent. Everyone on the cast was amazing. I hate that it had to get cancelled, but it did get a nice-sized run, and the finale was wonderful and copmletely fitting. I'll really miss this show next season.

Firefly

When I first heard about the show, I wasn't very interested. Cowboys in space? No thanks. But everyone kept talking about how great it was, and it was Joss Whedon afterall, so I decided to check it out last summer. So glad I did. Cancelled way before it should've been, but it did get in 14 great episodes. And a movie! It took me a few episodes to really warm to it, but I did finally, and now I totally love it.

Green Wing

I've been watching this show... oh, about three days, but I'm completely in love with it. The first episode I was kind of unsure about the show, because it seemed so ridiculously weird and I didn't really see where the plot was going, and all the slowing down and speeding up kind of annoyed me. But by the second episode, I was in love. I love all the characters (Mac and Boyce the most, but they're all awesome in their own ways), and each episode is just completely hilarious. And you know how I said after season 1 I didn't think I shipped Mac/Caroline, but I liked them a lot? Well, I'm pretty sure I ship them now. I just finished 205, and yeah, I pretty much love them. I really wish British TV seasons were more episodes, but unfortunately they're not, so there are only 17 episodes of this excellent show. I just can't say enough good things about it, it's really excellent.

The Office

I really didn't expect to like this show as much as I did. The first season was pretty good; nothing amazing, but it was pretty funny. The relationship between Jim and Pam was really what pulled me in. Then I watched season 2 and fell in love with them even more, and the show got even funnier. Just, yeah. I don't know what to say about this show, really. I just completely fell in love with it.

Queer as Folk

Man, I love this show. There are episodes and storylines and characters I'm not so fond of, but overall I just love it. The Brian/Justin relationship is one of my favorite ships ever. Yeah, I don't know what to say about this show either, really. It has a good mix of humor and drama, and the cast is overall really great.

Veronica Mars

Everything about this show is just amazing: the cast, the writing, the storylines. Such an intelligent show. It can be really dark, yet at the same time humorous. I didn't enjoy the second season as much as I did the first, but I still think it's a brilliant show, and I can't wait until season 3.

Wonderfalls

Killed way before its time. The premise sounds really bizarre - a girl starts hearing inanimate objects telling her to do things - but it was just excellent. It was smart and sarcastic and bizarre, so of course it only lasted 4 episodes until FOX cancelled it (luckily those 4 and the remaining 9 of the show got put onto DVD). I'm sorry it had to end when it did, but the finale was excellent, and brought the show to a nice end. If you haven't seen this show you should definitely check it out.

Summer school is now officially over! I don't think it's quite sunk in yet. But yay, glad that's all done with.
