Nov. 9th, 2006 11:07 pmThursday night TV is love.
Such a good episode! I thought it was pretty predictable where it was going, but I think they really made it work, and it was hilarious. Plus, I like that even though they did the same thing as in the UK version, the other branch merging into the one the show focuses on, they did it a lot differently. Michael would never do what David Brent did, accept that higher position at the expense of his employees, so I'm glad they modified everything to fit.
I love Ryan and Kelly together. I felt sad when Ryan was breaking up with her, and I feel like I should hate Ryan because he's such a jerk to her most of the time, but... I can't help but love them. (I think it's mostly just because their relationship is just hilarious.)
Jim's prank at the beginning of the episode, with sending Dwight faxes from Dwight in the future was absolutely hilarious. Both me and my mother couldn't stop laughing all the way through the opening.
I loved that when both Pam and Jim found out that the other branch was being closed, they both immediately were like "Uh... do you know who in the other branch will be coming here?" They're so subtle. ;)
Ah, man, I can't wait until next week. :D This should be good.
I realized during this episode that I really absolutely love every single character on this show except for Walter. I don't hate him, but I really don't find any use for him. I haven't really forgiven him for what he did to Betty in the premiere, and I hate that she took him back so quickly (really that she took him back at all). I just don't see why she's with him. I wish they would've signed on Christopher Gorham for the entire season as Henry, because he's a much better match for her. Oh well. I'm still really loving this show, in any case. I just really don't like him.
What the hell, how is this season so good?! I mean, really, this just makes me even more bitter about the last two seasons, because it can be so freaking good. I mean, season 3 wasn't all bad (better than season 2), but it did have the whole Johnny storyline and Volchok/Marissa and all that. But still. I just don't understand how it's gotten so much better again.
I'm especially really loving how they balance the lightness and darkness of it, too. I find myself laughing out loud multiple times during an episode, but then there are loads of sad/emotional moments as well. There's nothing wrong with episodes that are all light or all dark, but I find the balance between the two really impressive, and it just makes me enjoy the show more. I mean, there were some episodes in the past two years during which it just felt like a chore to watch at times, and I'm finding myself now actually looking forward to episodes.
Anyways, sorry, I've probably gone on about how much more I'm liking this season and how much better it is way too much by now. It's still surprising me, though.
I guess I don't really have any specific comments about this episode, so this didn't really need to be under a cut, but oh well. I really hope the rest of season 4 continues to be this great.
My Name is Earl was amusing as always, Supernatural will come on Saturday, probably.
