So I spent the last two days watching Friday Night Lights. I've been planning on doing it since like January what with how many people on my flist seem to love it and I was just waiting because I didn't want to start the show midseason. I ended up loving it a lot more than I expected.
I kind of alternate between liking and disliking Lyla. I never really hate her, but sometimes she bores me. But then at other moments I find myself suddenly liking her and being interested in her story. The same kind of goes for the whole Tim/Lyla/Jason thing in the first half of the season. There were times when I liked it and times when I was just kind of bored by it. I was glad when it ended, though.

I love Tim a whole lot for no particular reason. I feel like I should hate him, but I don't. I didn't like him from the beginning, but once he and Lyla ended things, I started fully loving him. I also like Jason a lot, but occasionally he can get irritating. I mostly love him, though.

Smash I'm not a huge fan of. His steroids storyline got boring for me as well and felt a little too over-the-top where everything else in this show feels so realistic. I like him more at the end of the season where he starts getting more serious because of Waverly, but I also like him at the very beginning of the season where he's not in it much, but he doesn't have all the stress and just kind of makes things lighter and more fun.

Landry is pretty awesome. I didn't appreciate him as much at the beginning of the season, but he's really hilarious. I loved his scenes when he was tutoring Tim. And he's such a good person, too. He handled the situation with Tyra just about as well as he could considering he had no idea what to do.

And Tyra. Oh, I love Tyra. She is so kick-ass. I love that she didn't take back Tim because it would make her a hypocrite because in any other show, I feel like she would have. I kind of alternate between liking her with Landry and liking her with Tim. I feel like Landry would be better for her in the long-run, but she's always going to care about Tim and I think that even if she realized that Landry would be a much better relationship for her, she can't help who she's attracted to. It'd be nice to see her and Tim as actual friends, though, as they started to try in the last couple episodes.

And then there's Matt and Julie. Oh god, most adorable high school couple ever. They are so sweet and cute and innocent and wonderful. I knew I would love them together and Matt because of everyone on my flist's reactions to them, but I had no idea how much I would love Julie. She's just so adorable and has such a great relationship with her parents and I totally love her. And of course Matt is awesome in his shyness and how he always stutters and he's just such a sweet an understanding boyfriend. I love how he was the one to say they didn't have to have sex; I really wanted it to be him to say that and not have Julie call it off (not that she didn't have every right to, of course, I just wanted him to realize that she wasn't ready and why she was pushing it and such. But yeah, anways, I love them to pieces, and they can never break up.

And then there's Coach and Tami. Best adult relationship ever depicted on TV, seriously. And Eric is awesome and all, but Tami, geez. She's just amazing. My mother's wonderful, but I really wish I could have the relationship Julie has with her mother, because I have nothing like that. I just love all of the Taylors.

Yeah, anyways, this show is so awesome. I love how natural everything feels and how they make me care what happens to all the characters and even to the team when I don't even like football. I'm really happy it got picked up for a second season and I'm totally looking forward to it.

asfkj my grades just came and somehow I only got Bs in calculus and chemistry! I don't know how that happened; I tried so little this semester. And I should've gotten a B in physics, I mean I know my final grade in the class and it was like an 86 or something but I think he said he would bump up the grades some at the end of the semester so I guess he did that to mine. And I got an A- in English! :D I kind of knew that was going to happen actually as of the last week of school, but I'm still surprised that it actually happened. Anyways, yeah. That went a lot better than I expected. And at least now my parents aren't complaining, because I was telling my mom a month or two ago I was only going to get As in band and French and she started going on about underachieving or something and how I shouldn't slack off even though it's my second semester of senior year and everyone does, but anyways. I'm very happy now. :D

Warped Tour is tomorrow, and I'm pretty excited for it. I think then on Saturday I'm going to start watching seasons 5-7 of The West Wing that I have on DVD and haven't watched yet. Yay for summer. :D

Goodness. Your thoughts about FNL are mine word for word. It's insane. Well, not that insane, as it's the general consensus for most fans I know BUT STILL.
This show can never do any wrong. As you said, they ended the whole Tim/Lyla/Jason thing whereas any other show would have it continue season after season. Eric/Tami is so perfect, omg so unebelievably perfect. As is the whole family dynamic - ALL the families actually, even the one or two they don't focus on a lot. The only thing that threw me off a bit was Tim and his next door neighbor. It almost felt as if they just wanted some drama on the show, but I didn't dislike it by any means. But that may be because at the time I was watching this show, I was crushing on someone 8 years older than me and also has a kid, so I was able to relate. Except Tim got the opportunity and I never did and knew I never would. So I guess I was living vicariously through Tim. ;P Anyway! I can't wait for September.

Congrats on your grades!!

Heh, awesome. :D Yeah, I know what you mean about the Tim/Lyla/Jason thing. I mean I remember thinking during Blinders with the Powderpuff football and all when Tim chose Lyla for his team that there'd be all this tension and drama between them and then... absolutely nothing happened. It was really kind of refreshing, because on any other show some drama would happen and Jason would find out and even if nothing happened everyone would make a big deal out of it, but in the episode nothing came of it.

Tim and his next door neighbor did feel a little off to me, but I actually liked it as well, and it wasn't even that I was relating to it. I think that was one of their more unrealistic storylines, but at the same time, I found it interesting. I thought his relationship with her son was really sweet too, even though the kid was kind of annoying at first, so maybe that's part of why I liked it. But yeah, same here. I really can't wait until the second season.

Thanks! :D

Yay! \o/ I'm so glad you like Friday Night Lights. Our feelings about the characters are almost identical, although I think I like Lyla a little more than you and like Jason a little less. But still. eee!

And congrats on the grades!

Heh, that's awesome. And I actually do think I like Lyla a little more than I let on. I don't know, I guess overall my feelings towards her kind of waver, but ultimately I do like her character. Really, all the characters are awesome. I love this show so much now!

Thank you! :D

Yeah, I really love Matt and Julie, and I expected I would from how everyone else on my flist has reacted to them, but I didn't expect to love everything else about the show just as much.
