Oh god I don't know why enjoy awards shows so much, but I do! And it helps when I've seen so many of the nominated films (and really love most of them).

alskjf FALLING SLOWLY! YES! I was more nervous for that then any other award. I love so much that they got the award. Best award of the night. Also awesome was Marketa Irglova getting to come back on-stage to give her speech.

This was actually a really good awards for me. Everything that won in the major categories was either my favorite or something I still really liked. Marion winning was excellent. She was so adorable, too.

I really wish they'd tell people not to clap until the end during the In Memoriam segment. It always seems incredibly rude to me that people clap for the names they recognize, so you have a bunch of applause for a few people, and others get none. Plus, it seems weird to clap at all at a montage of people who have died in the past year. I get that it's a sign of respect, but I still don't like it. Especially when people actually start whistling or shouting.

Of the categories I predicted, I got 8/10, which is pretty good, I'd say. And I saw the winners of all the major categories, which is really cool, and has never happened to me before. Usually after the Oscars there are all these movies I want to see since they've won or been nominated, but this year, I've seen so many of the nominees! I still want to see Gone Baby Gone, Lars and the Real Girl, and The Savages, though. And there are probably some others in there, too, that I'm forgetting.

I wish The Diving Bell and the Butterfly had gotten more love. If not Director or Cinematography, it should have at least been nominated for Best Picture. Definitely over Michael Clayton. It's my #2 of 2007! (Kind of awesome, though, 4 of my top 5 of last year were best picture nominees! Very fun for me.)

Jon Stewart sadly wasn't at his best, IMO. He did make me laugh at some points (I loved his bit with Steve Carell. I realy hope Steven Carell is asked to host at some point, btw. Or Stephen Colbert. I think they'd both be excellent), but overall, kind of dull. I attribute that to the fact that they had like 10 days to put this together. And anyways, any time Jon Stewart is on my screen for any reason is good.

Um, what else? I think that's it. All in all, I really enjoyed it. I'm a total sucker for awards shows, though, so there wasn't much of a chance I wasn't going to love it.

Ugh, I really don't want to do this English assignment I have due tomorrow, and Wind Ensemble has been canceled for today, and it's my only homework tonight, so I really feel like putting it off until later. But I haven't watched Company from Saturday night yet (I was going to Sunday morning, but got all caught up with Academy Awards excitement and forgot!), and I promised myself I wouldn't watch it until I finished my homework. So, time for working now.
