Jan. 25th, 2009 07:16 pmSo, today has been interesting.
I'm back at school now. My flight was super short (only 2 hours and 40 minutes, which is amazing. Usually it's 3 1/2 to 4 hours). Anyway, I got back to my room and my key no longer worked. I went to the R.A. and he didn't answer, and then some girls walked by and were like "Oh he went to dinner." ugh. But one of the girls is a R.A. on another floor, so she went with me to the dorm office to try the spare key to see if it was a problem with the key or the lock. That one didn't work either. So then I went to outside my room while she called security. It took them like 20 minutes to come, so I just sat outside my room and read a book. During that time my R.A. came by and I explained what was going on and he was like "Oh yeah, that's happened to like 3 other people already." Apparently it has something to do with what they put in the door or lock or whatever so people don't break in over winter break. Also during that time my next door neighbors who I've never met before came by and I explained everything to them and one of them was like "Oh no! That sucks! Is there anything I can do for you?" It was kind of amusing because it was like "...unless you can open my door for me, no." But it was really nice of her. Anyway, they finally came and my door got opened and supposedly it should work now. I haven't tried it yet, though. Maybe I should do that at some point.
The other kind of interesting thing was there was this absolutely ridiculous women on my flight. Her carry-on bag was too big so the guy at the gate was like "We have to check that." But she was like "NO I WANT IT WITH ME. IT'LL FIT, SEE!" And she fit it into that box thing where you check if your carry-on is too big and it didn't fit and so she jammed it in with her foot and was like "SEE!" And he kept insisting, but she started going on like "I'M GOING TO A JOB INTERVIEW IN D.C. TOMORROW AND MY CLOTHES ARE IN THAT BAG AND I NEED MY BAG OR ELSE I'M GOING TO THE INTERVIEW IN JEANS AND I WILL LOSE THIS JOB AND IT WILL BE ALL YOUR FAULT." It's like... what? I know they lose bags sometimes on flights, but it's not like the chance is over 50%. I've gone on loads of flights (I've been on like 18 in the past two years) and not once were my bags lost. And worst case scenario, your bags don't come and you have to buy some nice clothes there. Or you take out the clothes you need before they check the bag. It was just totally ridiculous. She kept arguing with the guy, and I half expected him to refuse to let her on the plane. Apparently they worked it out because she did get on the plane eventually.
I have class tomorrow. Ugh. The most irritating thing is that I have to get up at 8:30 for a class I'm planning to drop anyways, but I want to go just in case I can't get into the class I want to take instead. sigh.
