I love episodes like this! Like the Lucky Penny episode back in season 2. I don't know, I enjoy when they play around with linearity like that and all.

I had no idea Stella was coming back! I was totally shocked by that. I was hoping whoever was revealed wouldn't actually be the mother, though, and would be someone who leads Ted to the mother, and it being Stella totally helped prove it to me that that's how it'll be. Because I absolutely do not believe Stella is the mother (I'm totally unspoiled, though, so who knows). Ah, I'm excited for this! I don't care a HUGE amount who the mother is, but I don't know, it's fun that we're getting closer to finding out who she is.

I also loved the end, with Barney glancing at Robin! I enjoy episodes where even if Barney/Robin isn't a huge plotline or point to the episode, they still reference it in some way. Ugh, but they're totally building this up for the finale, aren't they? (Unspoiled, so don't tell me if I'm right!) I really wanted Barney to tell her about his feelings a few episodes before the finale, have her shoot him down because she's so surprised and doesn't take it seriously and stuff, then have Barney kind of be upset/mopey about it but trying to pretend everything's fine, especially when she's around, and her getting upset and realizing she has feelings for him and then the finale being them getting together (yes, I have thought about this WAY too much). But this way I feel like it's not going to happen until the finale, and either it'll be a cliffhanger how she responds or she'll shoot him down (and then in season 5... I don't know, she realizes she has feelings and it's drawn out to the season 5 finale, or something. I don't know. I'm confident they will get together by the end of the series, I just want it to happen sooner rather than later!). I think it's possible that she would realize in the finale that she has feelings for him too and they would get together, but I guess I just don't find it very likely? I don't know. We have so little clue what's going on in Robin's head, I just don't know how to predict her response! I can see her shooting him down initially, though, and really not taking him seriously. But I don't know! I guess I've loved how they've handled them so far, so I need to just trust that whatever they do, it'll be awesome.

OMG I LOVE SHELDON. I already knew this, but I REALLY REALLY ADORE HOW ANAL HE IS OVER SPOILERS. I am so the same way! Seriously, if I don't want to be a spoiled for a show, I don't want to be spoiled for reactions to a show, either! Reactions can be just as spoilery! I was totally spoiled for the fact that Barney and Robin hooked up in Sandcastles in the Sand based solely on my flist's reaction to the episode EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T EVEN WATCH THE SHOW AT THAT POINT. So yeah, I AM SO WITH YOU SHELDON.

I really enjoyed Raj this episode! I always like him (he's my favorite non-Sheldon, non-Penny character), but for some reason I found him especially hilarious tonight.

Also, SHELDON MADE A JOKE! HE LOOKED SO PROUD OF HIMSELF! I was totally proud of him for that, actually! Oh, Sheldon. The "It's funny because it's true" just made it even more awesome.

...that's pretty much all I want to say about the episode because ugh, Leonard/Penny. My greatest hope is that they get together in the finale and actually stay together and then season 3 is all about them falling apart and why they're wrong for each other while Sheldon starts maturing and growing and such and then Leonard/Penny can break up and be done FOR GOOD and we can get on with Sheldon/Penny. (Clearly I need to be writing the show!)

I am so exhausted. It was not a good idea to go to bed past midnight (and then be unable to fall asleep for an hour) when I had to wake up at 7 for class and when I have a final at 4:30. blah. Going to class was pretty pointless, too, which sucks. I did find out that I have a 97 in Differential Equations right now, though, so I don't need to worry very much about the final. Which is good, so I can concentrate on studying for my German final instead. But first I need to get through my Research in Psych final. Ugh, can this week be over already?

I feel like for the finale in terms of Barney/Robin I just need:

1. Barney to confess that he loves her (I feel like this is guaranteed)
2. Robin to react somewhat positively. She can react in a negative way at first (like you mentioned) but by the end of the season finale I need some sort of notion that she has feeling for him or that she might be open to giving him a shot. Even if it's with something as little as a look (like Barney in last season's finale) I need something from her.
3. KISSING. I NEED THEM TO MAKE OUT.
This doesn't have to mean that they're going to have sex again or that she'll agree to date him. I JUST NEED ANOTHER KISS! We can't go all season without one.

Yes, I want exactly this! I like the idea of her shooting him down a few episodes before the finale or in the beginning of the finale (and then by the end she changes her mind) just because I think it seems logical she would initially react that way and then maybe we'd also get more insight into what she's thinking and feeling. But I definitely don't want them to end the finale with that because then it's far too long until things can be fixed between them.

I ALSO REALLY NEED KISSING. What the hell, it's been over a season since the last one! Too long!

Sadly, I think it all has to be done in 1 episode because I really don't think she's going to find out about Barney's feelings next week.

I really hope they give us something from Robin. Just anything. I'd kill the writers if they break his/my heart. lol.

Could you imagine if she finds out towards the end of the episode and then is like "...maybe we should just be friends because I don't want to lose you."
Even if she actually dates him early in next season that would still be SO HORRID OF THEM TO LEAVE US WITH THAT ALL SUMMER LONG!

I just want something a bit more. Not a full on relationship though because I think that would equally as ridiculous. Even if she's secretly crushing on him now we don't know anything about that for sure. It would be so abrupt if she just decides to go out with him.

I just want a kiss and a promise that things are going to escalate in a good way next season.

I know, I definitely don't think that she will find out next week. I just wish she would. :( Or, really, I wish she would have found out a few episodes ago.

I know! It would be awful to spend all summer with that! That's really why I wanted her to shoot him down a few episodes before the finale, because then that would indicate to me that in the finale it would change. Even if it was just a slight positive change, like you said about Barney in last season's finale, at least it would give me hope, and I wouldn't end up spending the whole summer thinking about Barney being devastated and hopeless.

I definitely agree that it would be abrupt as it is now if she decides to go out with him. That's why I really feel like she's going to shoot him down. It just makes the most sense. And I feel like 22 minutes isn't enough time for her to turn around and go from shooting him down to agreeing to go out with him. I think right now I'm just preparing myself for the worst right now. I don't know, maybe I should be more optimistic, considering I've loved how they've handled the relationship between them so far.

Yea, I was mostly kidding. I feel 99% sure that they won't leave us with Barney being like "I love you" and Robin being like "Let's just be friends, ok?"

They spent ALL season building up to this, that would be quite the downer. lol.

Maybe they'll just leave us with a look or a glance from her to show she's thinking about it...and the kiss....lol I don't know how that fits in. Maybe future!Ted will mix up time periods again and show us the future when they kiss. WHO KNOWS! But I feel like it has to be in there somehow.

I wish I felt that sure! I'm so totally a pessimist, though, so I'm probably (hopefully) wrong. It would be a total downer if they left it like that! I guess I just really wish we should have seen SOMETHING from Robin about her feelings for Barney. I mean, I keep seeing stuff, like how entertained she was by Barney's Jesus 3-Day Rule story, but I don't know if they're actually intended to show us that she's into him, or if NPH was really cracking Cobie up.

Ooh, maybe he'll tell her and she'll be unsure or shoot him down and then there'll be a dream sequence (they've done that before, right? Like in the season 3 premiere with the two Robins) where they make out, and that would be both kissing and showing us how Robin feels! (...or not. That's the only thing I can really come up with right now.) Or actually, I remember thinking a little while ago maybe it'd be like The Office season 2 finale, where Pam shoots Jim down, but then they end up making out at the end anyways. Maybe something like that? I do agree that there needs to be a kiss in there, though!

I think it's a little bit of both actually, haha. I mean, NPH is just SO hilarious that I'm sure Cobie was laughing a bit IRL but they would only keep that in if they felt it was perfectly in character. And this is not the only moment like that, she's reacted more strongly to him than anyone all season (and all of s3 too actually).
And the way they sit next to each other all the time is completley deliberate on the part of the writers (and Marshall/Lily, lol). They're being very subtle with them but they've made it clear that Barney/Robin is the couple they want you to be rooting for.

Beyond sitting-next-to-each-other and Robin's reactions to him all the time she's also shown a direct interest multiple times! Like in "Shelter Island" Robin came to his hotel room with booze and literally asked to spend the night. I find it really hard to believe that nothing would have happened if Barney hadn't already been with a girl.
Another prime example is in "The Fight". I know it was mostly shown for laughs that Robin is so turned on by bruises (lol) BUT she was literally all over him (and didn't even look at Ted who was equally bruised). AND then she asked him out.
There are a bunch of little things like that here and there that I think show that if Barney ever put any real effort into pursuing her it would work. He came really close a bunch of times.

Therefore I'm positive that at the very least the season won't end negatively.

It could definitely play out like Jim/Pam in The Office! I'm hoping we get something half as good as that!

That is all very true! I forgot about Shelter Island, which is a huge hint that she at least feels something for him. I'm just pessimistic, as I said. I mean, I feel like they're definitely endgame, and so they'll get together eventually, but I feel like it's totally possible that they'll want to drag it out longer and so they'll have her shoot him down.

I just feel like there are SO many interesting/hilarious stories that involve them being together as a couple though. So I think the angst (sort of, haha) should be almost over.

I think the storyline of Barney's unrequited love is getting kind of tired (well not really, but it definitely would if it went on any longer).

I mean, the 2 people that are afraid of commitment attempting to commit to each other? And then Barney having to NOT sleep with 20 million bimbos. And then the fact that Robin is almost as big of a slut as he is(lol) and would probably love to have sex all over everywhere, Barney's bachelor pad having a girl actually SLEEP there, Robin still living with Ted while sleeping with Barney, the fact that Marshall/Lily/Ted would probably not get their relationship AT ALL and would always be surprised when they do something non-coupley, etc...

I think for a lot of shows the real story is getting there. And then once the couple get together it's adorable for a few episodes but then it has a tendency to get a bit boring. For Barney/Robin that isn't the case at all. Getting them together would just open up a whole realm of possibilities.

Yeah, I agree. I've loved Barney's unrequited love this season, but I definitely wouldn't want it to continue until next season.

I definitely also agree that there are so many storyline possibilities for them being a couple. I really can't wait to see them start being a couple and going through all those things, so I hope that they do decide to get them together sooner rather than later. I guess we'll know soon enough what they decide to do!
