Oct. 22nd, 2009 10:52 amI don't have much to say about Glee, but I must say a few things:
1) QUINN NOT IN HER CHEERLEADING UNIFORM. SO WEIRD. It was really confusing for me for a moment! I was like, "Who is this blonde random girl?" I hadn't realized before that we had never actually seen her out of her uniform, so it was really weird.
2) PUCK. I have resisted totally adoring Puck before this because... well, he's a jerk most of the time. Also, his hair is... weird, which somehow prevented me from finding him attractive (more recent pics of him with his hair shaved to the same degree made him look so much better, IMO), and I'm shallow. So while I've loved him in a love-to-hate way, now I actually like him as a character and sympathize with him and such. AND HIS VOICE! The guitar and the singing was so wonderful! And I wasn't sure about Puck/Rachel, but they were pretty cute together! She called him Noah!
3) Kurt still wins for being the best ever. He took one for the team! Even though he's very careful about what he puts on his face (or whatever that line was)! I might kind of be shipping Kurt/Finn, btw. I don't know, I ship everyone! And I know that most of fandom seems to ship Kurt/Puck, but I think I like Kurt/Finn more. I also like Puck/Rachel and Rachel/Finn, so, as I said, I pretty much ship everyone. Except Will should only be with Emma and Emma should only be with Will.
4) I found it really sweet that the 2 (I think there were only 2) football players who were not Finn or Puck chose Glee over football. We've seen like absolutely 0 of them, and as far as we know, they don't have ties to Glee like Finn and Puck do, what with Finn loving Rachel and Quinn and Puck loving Quinn and kind of liking Rachel. I just found that kind of sweet and nice that once they gave it a chance, they enjoyed it, you know? And they didn't care about their reputations. I want to see more of those 2 guys! Such as their names, which I feel like were mentioned, but I totally don't remember now. Obviously I also want to see more of Tina and Artie, since they've barely had anything to do so far, but I don't think I care as much as most people who watch the show and constantly complain about them not getting any time. I trust that they will eventually, and luckily the show is doing ridiculously well (which is so confusing to me; shows I like this much never do this well!) so there's plenty of time for them to get storylines.
TV meme I've seen a bunch of places: New Shows I've Given Up On
Cougartown (I heard good things about it, and after the Pilot I was like "eh, it's better than I thought it would be based on the premise, I'll check it out more" and then I watched one more episode and was like "...Courtney Cox's character is really annoying. Actually, I don't really like anyone except the teenage boy. Why am I watching this again?" So I stopped.)
The Beautiful Life (I was actually enjoying this! I mean, in a shallow, this show is kind of ridiculous way, but still! But The CW gave up on it for me.)
New Shows I'm Still Watching
Glee (I love it so much!)
Modern Family
Community (The show started off not as great as I wanted it to be, but I've really been... I don't know, charmed? by it the past week or so. I'm liking it more and more.)
Flashforward (I liked the pilot a lot, and I was really excited for the show after that, but since then... I don't know, whenever I think about it, I'm kind of bored. But I'm still intrigued by it, so I'll keep watching it)
The Vampire Diaries
Old Shows I'm Really Far Behind On
...none? I think? If I'm not caught up, then I'm not watching it anymore, basically. Like Heroes.
Old Shows I'm Giving Up/Have Given Up On
Heroes (I gave up after last season's finale, and I haven't regretted it in the slightest)
...I don't think there are any others? I gave up on 90210 last season, but caught up at the beginning of this season, and am actually glad I did. It takes a lot for me to give up a show. I suffered through the entire series of Charmed (the suffering part directed at seasons 7 and 8, primarily), so I can last through most other shows.
Shows I'll Finish on DVD/Blu-Ray
None? I don't have any sort of patience when it comes to new episodes of TV. And if I'm going to catch up on a show, it'll be on Hulu or something similar where I don't have to pay and I get access to the show immediately.
Shows I'd Like To Check Out On DVD/Blu-Ray When I Have Time
The Wire (I've heard amazing things about it, and I've been thinking about watching it forever)
Six Feet Under (see above. Plus, Michael C. Hall! And Alan Ball!)
The X-Files (I've been thinking about this recently since I realized I've seen a lot of the major cult-hit/whatever shows from awhile ago, but I've never seen The X-Files, and it's totally the sort of show I would adore.)
Alias (I really have the urge to check this out, but I've heard that I should not watch past season 2? So I don't know. I know once I get through season 2, assuming I like the show, I'll want to watch the rest)
I can't think of any others right now, although I'm sure there are plenty. If anyone has any suggestions for shows I should check out, then I'll definitely take those, too. I've been thinking something in the Stargate or Star Trek or whatever universes since I've kind of been in the mood for sci-fi, Farscape-like stuff recently. Or maybe I'll just rewatch Farscape.
Normal stuff I continue to watch
How I Met Your Mother
House
Gossip Girl
Greek (Why is the fall season finale so soon?! I disapprove.)
The Big Bang Theory
90210
Being Erica
Bones
The Office
Supernatural
30 Rock
Dollhouse
Ugly Betty (I'm close to giving this up, but I'm giving the new season a chance. I really loved the Marc/Justin stuff from the premiere (...totally not in a shippy way, because ew; I just like their friendship) and I always love Marc, Amanda, and Daniel, but I don't know. We'll see.)
Merlin
Fringe
Psych (except I guess that it's had its fall finale, so I won't be watching that again until the winter/spring/whenever it comes back)
Dexter
Mad Men
Brothers & Sisters (I don't know how invested I am in this anymore, but so far I've been liking this season more than last, so I'm sticking with it for now. Tommy being gone for good is a definite improvement, I must say, and last season I hated Rebecca/Justin a lot, but I'm getting used to them now and even finding them pretty cute)
And then there's the stuff that isn't on now, but will be coming back later, like Chuck and Legend of the Seeker and whatever else.
...Holy crap I watch a lot of TV.
I'm really annoyed by Discrete Math (well, that's been true all semester, but moreso than usual right now). We had a homework assignment due on Tuesday. I did it on Saturday because this week is so busy. I spent 5 hours on one problem that was so ridiculously hard, and I wasn't even positive I got it right after that, but at that point I just had to stop working on it. Then, on Monday afternoon, the professor e-mails us and is like "Oops, I misstated question #3 and made it too difficult. It should really say this..." which of course was the problem I spent HOURS on. And Monday's I'm really busy, so I didn't even know if I'd have time to fix it. But I did, and the revised problem took me 5 minutes. No exaggeration. So I wasted 5 hours on Saturday which could have been spent working on my Capstone or studying for my Cognitive Psych midterm. Great. Stupid class.
