So, I still haven't finished my ~10-page paper due Thursday afternoon. I have an excuse (kind of) though! I was all set to write it yesterday afternoon, but, well, basically I thought I had more support for my hypothesis than I actually did, and it turned out I could only find one article that actually supported what I was arguing and far more that didn't. And it was like... I could have gone on with that idea and just done my best and been done by now and then been able to go over it with him today, but he would have inevitably told me "Hey, your hypothesis makes no sense based on these articles, you need to fix something here" and I would have had to change my topic anyways and had much less time to gather research. My other option was to just change my topic right then as I realized it, so... that's what I did.

My new topic (birth order and social competence) is basically like my old topic (birth order and self-esteem), except that research that has already looked at it actually supports what I'm saying. There's also been less research done, so it's easier for me to argue that my hypothetical study would be different from what's already been done. This assignment is ridiculously difficult, by the way, because it's like... you need to find research that has already been done on the topic that helps explain why you think your hypotheses are correct, but it can't be the exact same research because then you're not contributing anything new to the field. It feels like a catch-22. But anyway, I think what I have works now. Well, I'm just one article short (we need to have at least 10), but I think I can use a slightly unrelated article and stretch it to work. I would have liked to be able to go over it with him, but I feel much better about this topic and what I'm going to write. And I have written like 3/4 of a page! So, you know, I'm not totally failing here. And I know what I'm going to say, so there's every possibility that I will be done by 12:30ish and can go over it with him quickly.

Anyway, I'm also feeling slightly happier because I found out that Thursday's RIP class has been canceled, so I'll have an extra hour and a half to either study for my German test or search for a data set for stats (because we still haven't found a new one. ugh. I really hope I'm done with this paper by 4:30 so I can work on the data set tonight. Plus I have a quiz in Differential Equations tomorrow that's on new material so I really need to do the homework and study for that. I got a 20 on my last quiz that we got back yesterday, so thankfully that'll pull my grade up a bit. And the project he assigned us that's due next week is so much more reasonable than the last one, and he'll actually be here, so I feel much better about that).

This week is nearly half over! I'm so looking forward to it being Friday afternoon. Then it'll only be a week until spring break! Plus, the only major thing I have for next week is the Differential Equations project, and I'm not too worried about that. ...at least not yet. But this weekend should be far more enjoyable than last weekend.

lkjsdf my professor just pushed back the due date of the paper until Friday at 11:50 PM! I'm not sure if this is really awesome or not very helpful. I mean, I have a test Friday and I need to find a new data set by Friday (and hopefully before then so I can run it by the professor). But that makes me feel a little less stressed out right now. I do have a quiz in Diff Eq tomorrow morning, and I need to do the homework and actually understand it so I get another 20 and can drop that one awful quiz. Plus, 11:50 PM means I can work on it after class on Friday. Not my ideal Friday night activity, but I might need that extra time. And I should be done by then anyways. Ok, I've decided this is definitely awesome. I can put together a rough idea of the paper today, then spend time on the other stuff I need to do, and then go through and edit on Friday afternoon/night. Ah this is great. :D

The full theatrical trailer for (500) Days of Summer was released here and I'm so excited for this movie. One of my most anticipated for this year. My other most anticipated movies right now are Sunshine Cleaning (which will be out in a few weeks! Unfortunately not until after spring break is over. Unless it's playing in limited release where I live, but I doubt it), The Brothers Bloom (I was ridiculously excited for this when it was supposed to come out last October, but then they pushed it till November, and then May! Ridiculous. It better be awesome), and Gigantic. I've never actually seen Zooey Daschnel in anything, so it's kind of random that two of my most anticipated movies of the year include her. There are other movies I'm pretty excited for, too, but these are the ones that match most what I feel like watching right now, I guess. And luckily Sunshine Cleaning and Gigantic will be out relatively soon (even though I probably won't be able to see either until May, when the semester is over).

Speaking of movies, I'm still not sure whether I want to read Watchmen before seeing the movie or after. I'm still where I was in January, about 2 1/2 chapters in. Time isn't really an issue since I don't even know when I'll be able to see it. I mean, I could see it during Spring Break, but I don't think my parents will be interested in seeing it, and I don't know if any of my friends have the same Spring Break as me.
