I finished reading Watchmen over the weekend. I definitely liked it more than I did when I was starting it in January. I feel like I need to read it again, though, before I can fully appreciate it. And I know I missed loads of little details. Not sure when I'll see the movie, but hopefully soon.

Some of the choices for the Fandom Steel Cage Match are making me cry a little inside. Booth is beating Dexter right now? Really? I mean, granted, I haven't been following Bones, but I did watch the first 5 or so episodes, and based on the first five episodes of Bones versus the first five episodes of Dexter, Dexter wins in a landslide. But beyond that, Dexter is one of my favorite characters EVER. There are few characters I would vote over him. Also, House beating Chuck? I can find that one slightly more understandable, at least. I was also happy for awhile because Ned was beating Dean, but Dean's now back in the lead. It's not that I don't like Dean, but... I don't know. I don't love him nearly as much as everyone else seems to, and I definitely like Ned more.

Actually, I think I have a problem with all the current results except for Barney beating Liz and Ten beating Mal. Besides what I already mentioned, I would really, really love Lorelai to beat Spike, but I don't see that happening seeing as pretty much everyone in Buffy fandom adores Spike. blah. Ok, I probably shouldn't care so much about this. But it still feels kind of frustrating.

Anyway, this week is thankfully not too busy compared to the last few weeks. I got my German test from Friday back that I didn't think I did very well on, and I got an A/A-. She must have curved it because there's no way I did better on this test than the first one. I'm still stressing out over the Multivariate Stats test from last week that she hasn't returned yet. I really just can't wait until Friday. Only 4 days left!

I am officially done with my paper! I'm not totally satisfied with it, but I got really tired of thinking about it and working with it. It ended up a lot shorter than I expected, but it's within the range he gave us (although on the low side). Hopefully it'll be ok. I'm kind of just hoping on a B on this. It's only 5% of our grade, at least. Of course, the entire research proposal project is like 35% of our grade, so if there's something fundamentally wrong with the proposal or my idea or whatever, it's going to affect a lot more than that. Oh well.

Yesterday was not the best day. The test didn't go as well as I hoped, especially based on how much I studied. I did really well on some sections, I'm sure, but on others... blah. Probably not so well. I'm expecting a B/B+ at this point, but she does like me, so maybe it'll be an A-? It's all right, though, I'll do better on the next one. This chapter was just kind of weird.

After that, well first I went to Multivariate Stats which ended up getting cut incredibly short because she planned for us to just work on our labs for most of the hour, but it turned out the data set she wanted us to use for the lab wouldn't work, so... that was it. Which was nice because it gave me more time for the paper, but of course having to work on the paper made the afternoon worse. I actually thought I would be done fairly early (like by 6-ish), but I didn't actually submit it until around 8:30ish. But at least it's done now! Now I just get to worry about how harshly it'll be graded.

After I finished the paper last night I had a horrible headache and I was out of Advil and the campus store was closed and it was the kind of headache that makes you feel kind of nauseous and awful so I really didn't want to walk to the nearest drugstore/grocery store to get anything. So I just laid in bed and started to read Watchmen again for the first time since January. I felt like I forgot what was going on, so I started from the beginning (I was only like 2 1/2 chapters in as it was, so it wasn't like I was rereading that much). I got through chapter 3 last night before I felt too exhausted to keep going. I'm liking it a lot more this time. I don't even know if liking it is the right term because it wasn't that I didn't like it before, but I just wasn't invested in it. Or something. I don't know. I'm just a lot more interested in what's going on this time. So yeah, I think I'm going to try to finish it before I watch the movie.

Spring break is less than a week away! I am so excited. I really need a break right about now.

lkjsdf my professor just pushed back the due date of the paper until Friday at 11:50 PM! I'm not sure if this is really awesome or not very helpful. I mean, I have a test Friday and I need to find a new data set by Friday (and hopefully before then so I can run it by the professor). But that makes me feel a little less stressed out right now. I do have a quiz in Diff Eq tomorrow morning, and I need to do the homework and actually understand it so I get another 20 and can drop that one awful quiz. Plus, 11:50 PM means I can work on it after class on Friday. Not my ideal Friday night activity, but I might need that extra time. And I should be done by then anyways. Ok, I've decided this is definitely awesome. I can put together a rough idea of the paper today, then spend time on the other stuff I need to do, and then go through and edit on Friday afternoon/night. Ah this is great. :D

The full theatrical trailer for (500) Days of Summer was released here and I'm so excited for this movie. One of my most anticipated for this year. My other most anticipated movies right now are Sunshine Cleaning (which will be out in a few weeks! Unfortunately not until after spring break is over. Unless it's playing in limited release where I live, but I doubt it), The Brothers Bloom (I was ridiculously excited for this when it was supposed to come out last October, but then they pushed it till November, and then May! Ridiculous. It better be awesome), and Gigantic. I've never actually seen Zooey Daschnel in anything, so it's kind of random that two of my most anticipated movies of the year include her. There are other movies I'm pretty excited for, too, but these are the ones that match most what I feel like watching right now, I guess. And luckily Sunshine Cleaning and Gigantic will be out relatively soon (even though I probably won't be able to see either until May, when the semester is over).

Speaking of movies, I'm still not sure whether I want to read Watchmen before seeing the movie or after. I'm still where I was in January, about 2 1/2 chapters in. Time isn't really an issue since I don't even know when I'll be able to see it. I mean, I could see it during Spring Break, but I don't think my parents will be interested in seeing it, and I don't know if any of my friends have the same Spring Break as me.

My birthday was ok. I guess I've had worse, but I've also had better. I really loved seeing Slumdog Millionaire a second time, anyways. My mom really liked it, too. I didn't notice as much the first time I watched it, but that movie is really gorgeous. I hope it gets nominated (and even wins) an oscar for cinematography. And the end credits are amazing.

For my birthday, I got White House Ghosts by Robert Schlesinger (it's a book about the presidents' speechwriters since... FDR, I think? The guy went on The Daily Show when the book first came out to promote it and he was really funny and sounded smart, and I absolutely love this kind of stuff, so I've been wanting this book for ages and finally got it), some movie passes, and another set of Hitchcock movies. This one includes Strangers on a Train, Dial M for Murder, Foreign Correspondent, Suspicious, The Wrong Man, Stage Fright, I Confess, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and North By Northwest. I've seen Strangers on a Train and North by Northwest before, and I like them both, especially North by Northwest. The only thing that sucks is that I still don't own Notorious, which is my favorite Hitchcock film so far and one of my favorite films ever. I think I'm going to end up just buying it for myself. Oh, I also got gift cards to Barnes and Noble and iTunes, so I could by it with the Barnes and Noble card.

I forgot to mention this the last time I posted, but on Monday morning I got woken up at 5 AM by the power going off. It was still off when I got out of bed. It turns out that I'm really awful at coming up with things to do that don't involve electricity. The electric company said it wouldn't come on again until 2 or 3, so my mom and I decided to go out shopping to pass the time. I got some new clothes and I got The Watchmen at Barnes and Noble because I decided that I wanted to read it before watching the movie. I'm about two chapters in and so far I'm not that into it. I've heard that it's brilliant, though, so I'm hoping I start liking it more as it goes on. It's not bad, it's just... I don't know. It hasn't really captured me.

I need to stop buying books though and actually start reading them. I have so many books right now I've never read. Everytime I go to a bookstore I just have to buy something, but then I never read anything. I'm going to try to start reading more I think.
