Aug. 7th, 2005 08:45 pmI can't believe it's over.
Man, I was reading to bawl within 10 seconds after the credits. I mean, "Sleep" by the Dandy Warhols! (...um, at least in the screen version. I remember it also being in the screener version of 510 and then hearing it wasn't in the aired episode, and I watched the screener, not the aired episode, so... if I say something that totally didn't happen, that's why.) And the Michael voice over! Callback to the pilot omg!
Daphne: ...ok, nothing really to say, but she was in the episode! Yay! And she was really, really pretty. wheee :D
Ted and Emmett: Obvious that it was going to go that way with Ted/Tad. I was spoiled for the Brian/Justin parts of the episode, but not at all for any other storylines. During the scene at the mountain lodge thing I was totally expecting Tad to randomly show up and beat up Ted/Emmett or go insane or whatever, so I was completely shocked when Blake suddenly showed up. I'm so glad I wasn't spoiled for that, it was totally awesome. I'm glad Ted gets to end the show with a decent guy. The guy running into Emmett was so totally fucking random, and it was obvious that it was just so everyone would end the show with someone, but... eh. It was ok. It made Emmett happy, and I adore Emmett, so I was fine with it.
Michael/Ben/Hunter: Wasn't spoiled for them adopting Hunter, either, so I was absolutely thrilled when they asked Hunter about it. Also, I totally knew that Michael was going to change the speech while he was giving it, but it's ok because I thought it turned out nicely. His whole thing about how just because they're different does that mean they don't deserve the same rights - guh. Word, Michael.
Brian: Brian playing with Gus at Melanie and Lindsay's house was far too cute. I loved Brian's speech and that he said "It's still all about sex." Another callback to the pilot! Awesome. Brian's kiss and goodbye to Lindsay was so awwwwww.
Brian/Justin: The beginning: oh, man. They looked so amazing in their tuxes, and Brian calling Justin beautiful... guh. But even if I weren't spoiled for the storyline for them in this episode, I would still expect them not to end up getting married. It just seemed too perfect in the beginning, and there were far too many comments about being happily married and such. The stag party felt like Brian's 30th birthday in 122. They kept teasing him and I wanted to punch them all and I was surprised he didn't get angry. I really liked the conversation Justin and Brian had about how Brian wasn't being himself and they were both sacrificing things to be together and it wasn't right. I knew that when Brian and Justin came out at the rehearsal dinner, they would tell everyone that the wedding was off. I loved the reactions of everyone, though, and how Debbie had to sit down.
The last scenes with Justin: guh. My heart was totally breaking. He didn't return the rings! Aw. I do like that it's left so open-ended, and that it doesn't seem like a break-up. They're still talking about seeing each other, and Justin says he'll come back and I have to believe that after some time in New York and becoming all rich and famous (because that happens so quickly to artists once they move to New York, you see) that he'll return to Brian. The "[You] became the best homosexual you could possibly be" line was awesome, too. That last kiss... geez. Beautiful and hot and desperate and perfect all at once. Justin all of a sudden disappearing from the bed made me cry (...actually I was probably already crying by that point).
Brian/Michael: I like how it ended with them. And yay for Michael's "You'll always be young, and you'll always be beautiful. You're Brian Kinney, for fuck's sake!" line again. The end was absolutely perfect, with them all in the club and Brian dancing.
sigh. And then it was over.
All right, so as a Brian/Justin shipper, I was disappointed that they didn't end happily ever after, but it was definitely left open-ended and I do like how it ended between them, if it had to end with them apart. The finale as a whole was definitely one of the best episodes of the series. It really was the perfect finale for the show. I don't know how to describe it in any other way than that.
That being said, hi. I need post-513 fic like right now, ok? Thanks.
