Jun. 16th, 2006 09:27 pmJust finished season 2 of The Office.
[dies and is dead]
I mean, I knew it was all coming, but OMFG A;SLKFJDLKJA;LSDFJ;LAKSJFDLKJS;LKJ SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean god. Just reading other people's posts, seeing what Jim says, it's nowhere near what it's like watching it. How he says "I'm in love with you" and "I want to be more than that", and omg EVERYTHING eeeeeeeee!!!
I swear to god I had some rational thoughts about the show before I saw this episode, but they're pretty much all gone now. And I can't stop watching the last like 3 minutes, from when Jim talks to her about his feelings to the kiss. a;lksjd;lkj omg THE KISS! [dies] oh god, Jim crying! John Krasinski is such an amazing actor. I love him so much.
al;skjfd oh god. I can't collect my thoughts.
[sigh] Ok. I think I've calmed down a bit.
So. I kind of like this show, I think. If, you know, you couldn't tell.
The second season is better than the first. First off, I definitely like them toning down Michael. He could be kind of painful to watch in the first season, but he was a lot more sympathetic in the second. He still was that completely oblivious boss who thinks he's hilarious but really isn't, but it's not so... cringe-worthy, I guess.
I like all the attention to the sort of secondary characters and how they're given more background and personalities rather than just kind of existing in the background but never having much part in anything.
I kind of love Dwight, and, strangely enough, Dwight/Angela. I wouldn't think I would, but... they're kind of adorable, in they're own, screwed up way.
Um, I feel like I should have more to say about non-Jim or Jim/Pam things, but I really don't. I just am that obsessed.
One thing I just kind of wanted to say about them, which I mentioned in my other post after seeing season 1, is that I like how kind of subtle it starts off. I read someone's perspective on one of the episodes once, and they said something like "It's funny how in a show where everyone's talking to the camera, there's a lot left unsaid" and I really agree. And I love it that way. Jim never really explicitly states how he feels to the camera. I mean, at least not at first. And as the series progresses, he does mention things like "Christmas is the time for telling someone how you feel" (or something like that) and of course "I would save the receptionist" (which is probably the most... overt display of his feelings, I guess). But I think in other, less-well-handed shows, by like the second episode, Jim would have said to the camera something about his feelings for Pam. I don't know.
And the thing is, I usually don't like it when pairings are telegraphed from the very first episode, because it just seems too obvious, you know? And it's just like... bleh. Irritating, I guess. But this is handled so well, so it doesn't feel like it's the only thing the show is about, and it doesn't become too much so you get sick of it. It's just really nice and subtle and alskdjf;lkj I love it so much.
Booze Cruise killed me dead so much. Just... everything. The silence when they're talking and Jim's "I would save the receptionist" which I've already meantioned like 1000 times, but I love it so fucking much, because as much as I love Jim when he's being funny and charming, I love him the most when he's all serious. And jeez, so freaking close!
And oh god, my thoughts are getting all sporadic again, but man, I just love them so much.
So, uh, yeah. Is it season 3 yet?
Anyways, sorry to anyone on my flist who doesn't watch The Office or hates it or whatever, but I won't be this way for long. This is just how I get. I find something, I obsess over it, and in a few weeks, I obsess over something else. It was the season finale of Veronica Mars, then it was Everwood, now it's this. I'll be over it in a few weeks.

Date: 2006-06-18 03:16 am (UTC)Those were kinda my thoughts after the finale. I agree with you on EVERYTHING. Season two is better than one, JOHN KRASINSKI IS THE BEST ACTOR IN THE UNIVERSE, and Booze Cruise really killed me too. Like when he just broke up with Katie in this casual way because he didn't care because PAM AND ROY HAD SET A DATE AND SKJHDFLKJHSDLFKJHSDLFSHDF he's crushed and SO AM I.
So yeah...its been a while since I've seen the finale and I STILL can't form thoughts.

Date: 2006-06-18 03:27 am (UTC)Heh, I imagine it's going to take me awhile to be able to talk about the finale for extended amounts of time without just starting to squee from the awesomeness of it all. Oh man, I really need season 3 to start, like, now.
