Aug. 18th, 2006 11:48 pmAh, Wicked was so amazing. I love seeing it. I just want to see it over and over again. It was the same cast as I saw in Boston, which was fine with me since it was a great cast, I got to see Mr. Trick as Doctor Dillamond again! Hee! That never fails to amuse me.
Ah, but man, I just love how well it's done. How they explain everything, like how the lion, tin man, and scarecrow came to be, and how they're not just random people but they actually all have great significance. I love the development of the relationship between Elphaba and Glinda, and that they really did both change each other. I love all the little callbacks to The Wizard of Oz, like "There's no place like home" and the shoes and Elphaba's cackle, and the flying monkeys, and "We can't all come and go by bubble" which I think may just be my favorite line in the entire show, and you can see that after this story had been passed down and told long enough how they would twist and end up in what we saw in the movie (or read in the book; I haven't read the book in ages, though, and I've seen the movie many times while I've read the book once, so I can't really say if the musical fits with the book as well). And it explains how Dorothy came to Oz in the first place, and why Elphaba has her powers, and why the munchkins hated the Wicked Witch of the East so much. And it's just so sad how everything Elphaba does is twisted against her by this like propaganda and how she's really just trying to do good but everytime she tries it just turns out completely wrong. And I love all the like... foreshadowing in the songs, like Fiyero singing about being thoughtless and brainless in Dancing Through Life, and Elphaba and the Wizard both mentioning a celebration throughout Oz that's all to do with her (which is always just so sad to me because she has these high hopes for it when we know the celebration is of her death) and being so happy she could melt and man. I love this musical.
And Fiyero! He deserves his own paragraph. Man, do I love him so much. He starts off so shallow and such and then he just changes so much and he's such a good guy, and yeah. I've decided that Dancing Through Life is totally my favorite song of the musical because of how much I love Fiyero's introduction and just the entire thing with all the dancing and everything going on and yeah. I already said how much I love Fiyero's introduction, but it bears repeating because it's just awesome.
And god, I'm so glad that Fiyero and Elphaba get to live and go off together and live happily ever after, but I really wish Glinda could know, because she loves them both so much and it sucks that she has to go on thinking that they both got killed, and both of their deaths could even be blamed on her. It's just terribly sad.
Yeah, I just become totally incoherent after seeing this show. I just love it so much. I wish there was a way I could watch it over and over again that wouldn't cost me $150 every time and wouldn't depend on me following the show around the country.

Date: 2006-08-19 08:38 am (UTC)Fiyerooo! I love him as well. So much. Oh and I love Fiyero and Elphaba's interaction after saving the lion cub. "You must think I'm really stupid." "Noo. Not really stupid." !!!!jkfla;sdjkdsfl
And I really love G(a)linda's character. Especially when played by Kendra. She's got the best comedic timing and best comedic.. everything. :D I watch her 'Popular' performances all the time.
Gah. I can't wait to see it again next year.

Ah, I want to see it again soon, but I doubt it'll be coming here again anytime soon. Oh well. I have already seen it twice now, so I really shouldn't be complaining, since I was lucky enough to see it those times.

Date: 2006-08-21 11:19 pm (UTC)Yeah, she really does. Originally she wasn't suppose to be in the show as much as she is, but they saw how great it would be with more interation between the two. Good choice!
Actually, if it just went by there once now, it should be back next year, I'm assuming. I think it's coming through the majority of the places it went to this past time. I'm not too sure, but keep an eye out for it!
