Quick update before watching DVDs.

On Wednesday I ended up having no willpower, so I watched the first two episodes of The Office with commentary (I justified that to myself by saying that watching with commentary is different than just watching the episode because I don't pay very much attention to the episode when I'm listening to the commentary) and then the first two episodes of Arrested Development. Tonight I'll hopefully finish Arrested Development and then tomorrow will be an Office marathon!

Today I had an essay on the Scarlet Letter and I think it might be one of the best essays I've written in a long time. This doesn't mean I think I'm going to get an A, because I think I'll probably still get a B because of stuff I didn't notice or whatever, but just based on my standards, I'm really happy with that essay. When I get the grade this'll all probably come crashing down, but for now, I'm happy.

Yesterday one of my birds, Caitlin, was like... wheezing and sneezing funny, so my mom took her to the vet and he thought she had a seed stuck in her trachea, so they put her under anasthesia and performed surgery on her and it turned out she had a fungal infection, and yeah, this was all very shocking to come home to considering she was fine the night before. She's all right now, she still wheezes but we're giving her medicine and it should get better. I feel so bad for her, though. She'll like try to chirp but she can't because of all that so it just comes out as this little like... wheeze or squeak, and it's just really sad. :( I hope she gets better soon.

...I think that's all I wanted to update about. I can't wait until next week, because it's major premiere week. I'm really looking forward to Studio 60 starting (well I've seen the pilot already, so not so much to this Monday, but just in general I'm looking forward to the show) and definitely The Office (I'm so excited for the new season to see how everything turns out, but nervous because I'm afraid that I won't be happy with whatever path they end up choosing) and there's also ANTM and My Name is Earl, neither of which I'm totally in love with (MNiE definitely more than ANTM, though) but I'm still happy new seasons are starting, and yeah. Yay for next week! :D

Ok, off to watch season 3 of Arrested Development!

Ah, done so much in two days. When school starts, everything gets so busy!

The football game Thursday was... weird. I mean, the show went well, especially for our first performance, and most of the times in the stands were fun. But there was just... bizarreness, and playing over the other marching band (or them playing over us), and the alto saxes just falling back into utter chaos. Oh well. Hope next game will be better. (Our team lost, of course, by the way. Our team pretty much sucks.)

Today was busy. I had my essay 5th period but in 3rd I got this note to go to the principal's conference room at the start of 5th period for a mandatory meeting. I kind of worried about missing any of the essay time, but I knew it would be for National Merit Semi-Finalist qualifiers (which it was) and others in my English class would have the same problem. There were... 38 National Merit Semi-Finalists from my school which is totally ridiculous, because the other three high schools in the district combined get like... less than that. ...oh, but it's top secret for some reason and I can't tell anyone but my parents and my best friend or something, according to the school administration, but whatever. I'm not really worried about that.

Somehow when I was getting up at the table in the room, though, I scraped my ring finger on my left hand and it hurt really badly and then it started bleeding and I didn't have a band-aid and then I had to write the essay and blood was just like pooling there and I kept trying to make sure no blood got on my essay because that would be gross. blah. Oh, and so if there are any typos here, it's due to that because there's this band-aid on the finger now so it won't bend properly and it's harder to type for me.

The essay didn't go terribly, I guess. I don't think I did wonderfully, but for this essay you can't get lower than a C, and I don't think it was that terrible? I hope? I guess we'll see.

After school was marching band pictures and that was just kind of blah because we almost didn't get a senior picture because a few seniors didn't buy a package of pictures when they should of (not that I blame them, because it's not like they knew and did it on purpose, but it was just disappointing because I wanted a senior picture). But then Richard's mom agreed to pay for them if they'd pay her back, so it worked out all right. After that I went to Cha with Emma, Galaxy, and Soan, and then Justin and Andrew came for a little while, and we hung out for a little then I dropped Galaxy off at school and Emma came to my house and we did homework (well I kind of failed at that, but I did finish my chemistry assignment! Even if it did take like 4 hours...) and then she left at like 11.

Yeah. So I'm tired now, and next week is going to suck because we have an essay on The Scarlet Letter and there's no block schedule next week, and... yeah. It'll suck. Oh well.

Well, today was sure an interesting day. I was thinking "Man, once school's over today, all will be good" since I had 2 quizzes (well ok one didn't happen, but I thought it was going to so I studied for it anyways) and an essay on Pride and Prejudice and tomorrow I don't have much of anything. Totally wrong, though.

So, our concert was tonight. We had some time between the end of school and our call time, so we decided to see Pride and Prejudice at the UCI market place theaters. (I'll comment on the movie in a bit) So once it was over, I started driving back, and I had just started going on Campus Drive (the street that both UCI and the high school I go to are on) and my car stopped. I still had some momentum so I was able to pull over to the side of the road, but it was really freaky. Nothing like that's ever happened to me before. So it was me, Emma, Jackie, Jessica, and Soan in the car, and Soan and Jessica had awhile before their call time, but Emma, Jackie, and I had to be there at 5:15 at the latest, and it was already like 4:50 and none of us were in our concert clothes yet. Yeah. Not good. So I called my mom and then AAA and it was arranged that my dad would come from work to give me the car so I could drive us to the concert and he could wait for AAA and my mom would walk down to the school (because I live like... a 2 minute drive from the school, and it's only that long because of the long signal). Sometime while waiting, Mike Tseng was driving Justin down Campus and recognized our car and stopped. So we explained what was going on and he ended up driving Emma, Jackie, and me to school (because at this point it was 5:12 and we were going to be very late) while the others waited for my dad/AAA. When we got there, my mom wasn't there yet so I spent like 10 minutes freaking out because she had my clothes. But we told Mrs. Bentley and she understood and everything ended up working out.

The annoying thing is that once my dad arrived to the car, he tried turning it on and it worked. I swear I tried starting it up again at least three freaking times and it didn't start up any of the times. But it worked out all right, in any case. Really freaking weird, though.

Anyways. The Pride and Prejudice essay I wrote wasn't too bad. I don't think I was incredibly insightful but it could've been worse, and I think I pulled at least a B-, which is all I really want.

The Pride and Prejudice movie was actually better than I thought. I was expecting it to be pretty terrible, honestly. There were some things I didn't like (like them being about to kiss during his first proposal - wtf?! No! No! I get the "OMG I HATE YOU BUT I SECRETLY WANT TO JUMP YOU" thing they do in current movies, but that's totally not what's going on there, and even if it was, they would never, ever kiss before they were engaged. I don't even think they'd kiss when they became engaged! I think it'd probably be until they were married before they could kiss. But definitely not then. And also, the last scene was just terrible cheesy), but overall it wasn't too bad. And it was so pretty! Bingley looked crazy, though he was pretty adorable and sweet. And I actually liked the actor who played Darcy, but I think I like Colin Firth more. But yeah, it wasn't too bad, really.

The concert turned out... pretty mediocre. I played in a quartet in the lobby before it started with Emma, Mukul, and Mike Schneider, and we hadn't played the piece in like a week, so it was terrible. First Mukul had the wrong part out but didn't realize it until about 10 measures in, so we freaking stopped and started again. Then at some point Mukul didn't play 2 notes and so that threw Schneider off and somehow he thought Mukul had skipped 2 lines so I guess he went down 2 lines? But then none of us were playing the same thing so Schneider and then Emma stopped and then I stopped and people started applauding and were all "OMG YOU GUYS ARE SO GOOD!" and we're like "...uh?" and started at a random measure and finished the piece. The sax ensemble was decent but we've played it better, which is the same for the Wind Ensemble. Jazz band I think was one of the better times we played the pieces, but that's not saying anything, and I think we were still pretty mediocre.

Anyways. Overall, a very stressful, bizarre day. But I'm just glad that my essay is over. And tomorrow all I have is a chemistry test 2nd period (which is the first period of the day tomorrow because it's block schedule) and I'm not worried about it because I barely pay attention in chem and I barely think about the class, and I have a 91.9% so I figure it doesn't really matter. I could get like a C on the test and still have an A-, so yeah. Not too concerned. But I don't think I'll do that bad, anyways. And then after that we have like nothing in French and nothing in Wind Ensemble. And then I'm free for 2 weeks! Woohoo! :D

guh. Tired now. Should probably look over chem notes and then sleep. Oh, and "wrap" (i.e., put the bows that just stick on things onto the things I got for people) the presents. And also decide who exactly I'm giving presents to, because I'm not sure I have it figured out.

Ah, this afternoon was good. After jazz band I went to Emma's house around 6 and watched all of Sense and Sensibility again because she found she had it on like Monday or Tuesday and missed the first 45 min of it and I really liked it and wanted to see it again. It was fun seeing it again, especially since I noticed a bunch of random stuff I didn't the first time. Like, there's this one part, where they have a parrot in the entrance way and then when they're entering the house there are people in front talking, but in the background Miss Steele (who's kind of like... one of the bad guys you could say) bends over to see it and it totally starts attacking her. It's awesome. And Hugh Laurie's character is still the best ever. And he reminds me of Mr. Darcy, and I think it'd be awesome if Hugh Laurie played Mr. Darcy in the 6 hour version of Pride and Prejudice that we're going to watch some of in English (and that I'm totally going to want to watch all of it, too) but I haven't seen it so I don't know how the actor who plays him is and if he's really awesome or not.

...um, yes. I don't think I make much sense now, but Emma and I got really silly after we finished watching it and so I don't think I'm able to speak normally right now.

Oh, and I totally finished the final 180 pages of Pride and Prejudice last night (instead of studying for Euro, which is why I'm currently getting a B in Euro, and I really need to fix that). I'm not sure how I feel about it. I mean, I did like it, but I don't think I liked it as much as I thought I would, I guess. I don't know. I was just trying to get through it for plot so I'd understand it better when we start working with it next week in class. I also have read the first 50 pages in Sense and Sensibility, and wtf Elinor's supposed to be 19? And Marianne is supposed to be 16?! Insanity. The movie is actually pretty close to the book, though, considering that they always change things from book to movies.

I found out that I got a B- on my sonnet analysis essay, which isn't that great, but I'm just happy that I got a B and that it's done with. It's supposedly also the hardest thing we do all year in English, so at least it's over with.

What else? I don't know. Tomorrow should be good. I'll probably finish Sense and Sensibility, hopefully catch up on one of the episodes I missed this week (I have Lost, The O.C., and Reunion to watch, except I might stop watching Reunion because it's been cancelled and I won't get to find out how whoever killed Sam did it and why and all that and in any case My Name is Earl is moving to Thursdays at 9 and I had kind of given up on it because it's too much trouble to remember to download and I can't record it because I watch both Supernatural and House at its current Tuesday 9 PM spot, and if I stop Reunion I can record My Name is Earl while watching Everwood), and maybe make some icons. I really want to icon this week's Veronica Mars.

You know what sucks more than having to write an in-class essay? Having to write two different in-class essays for two different classes on the same freaking day. I have both an essay for Euro (7 prompts he's given us, he'll choose 2 from the list tomorrow, we get to choose which of the 2 to write on) and a sonnet analysis essay in English tomorrow. Joy. Can it be Wednesday night yet? Tomorrow seriously needs to be over with.

Today was Mrs. Bentley's first day of Symphony since she's come back, and she was talking to me about after this concert in December is over, I should double on bass clarinet with Andrew for the rest of the year for Symphony. Woohoo! I wanted to be in Symphony, but tenor parts in pieces for symphony are rare, so it was unlikely I'd be able to again. I feel kind of bad since Brian plays bass clarinet in Wind Ensemble, and her having me do bass clarinet as well as Andrew and completely overlooking him is kind of... bad. But I don't feel guilty enough to not do it. Plus, I think that means I'll actually get credit for the course, which is great.

I watched Gilmore Girls which was really great tonight, but missed Supernatural/House so I could prep for my Euro essay tomorrow. House and Supernatural shall come Friday, probably.

SAT scores this morning! I got a 690 reading, which is 10 points higher than the highest score I got on the practice tests this summer, and I got a 690 writing, which is around the lowest writing scores I've gotten. The essay got an 8, so yeah, not as good as it could've been. But the math! I got an 800! How freaking insane is that?! So, overall, 2180! 70 points higher than my highest practice test this summer! Awesome. I'm so happy about that. Now I don't have to worry as much about retaking it. I'm satisfied with my score, but I may retake it just to see if I can boost up the writing, because I know I can do a lot better on it than I did. So yeah, anyways, there's a load off my mind.

Also got those essays on Canterbury Tales we wrote back on the day Veronica Mars premiered back. I got a 42.5/50, which is an 85! I'm so happy about that, you have no idea. And if that wasn't good enough, she sclaed the essays out of 45, so now my score is a 94, and that's enough to bring my grade up 6 percent to a 85! I'm so happy. :D I know my grade won't stay that high up, but at least it helps for now.

Nintendo Fusion Tour next Monday! I'm so excited. It should be awesome.

I think Prison Break is returning tonight? I thought it was next week, along with Arrested Development, but I saw a promo last night when I was watching a little bit of the Prison Break marathon that was on FX (like, 10 min of it, maybe), and it said it was coming back tonight. I should probably check on that.
