Sep. 20th, 2009 10:04 pmI jotted down my thoughts as the show went on:
1. OMG STEPHEN MOYER'S VOICE WTF. IT'S FUCKING GORGEOUS. This is the first time I've ever heard him with his natural accent, and he sounds so amazing! It's ridiculous!
2. SIMON BAKER IS AUSTRALIAN? I DID NOT KNOW THAT.
3. Okay, now the actual awards are starting. omg KRISTIN CHENOWETH. I DID NOT EVEN REMOTELY EXPECT THAT. Ah I'm glad Pushing Daisies got some love even though it got canceled. Aw and she was so sweet and surprised and thrilled about it. She's awesome.
4. I want NPH to host everything ever.
5. JOHN HODGMAN. <333
6. Awww the HIMYM cast looks lovely! (ugh 30 Rock is good, but HIMYM and even TBBT had much better written episodes this season. I'm so sick of 30 Rock's overhype.)
7. Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy: WHAT. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME. SOME RANDOM GUY FROM TWO AND A HALF MEN WON OVER NPH? THIS IS A FUCKING OUTRAGE, SERIOUSLY. I EXPECTED EITHER OF THE 30 ROCK GUYS, AND WHATEVER, I DO LOVE KENNETH THE PAGE, SO I WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE IF HE WON, BUT AL;KSDFJ UGH TWO AND A HALF MEN IS HORRIBLE AND ABSOLUTELY NO ONE IN THAT CATEGORY WAS BETTER THAN NPH. ugh I didn't want to care this much, but I do! The two wins I wanted most were NPH and Jim Parsons, and I didn't expect Jim to win, but NPH I thought had a good chance! Dammit.
8. Best Actress in a Comedy: Surprised by Tina Fey not winning. Although in this category there wasn't anyone I really wanted to win more. But I hope this means Jim Parsons has a chance against Alec Baldwin? I shouldn't get my hopes up after what happened with NPH, though.
9. Ah The Office beat 30 Rock for something! I'm probably the only person in history who actually liked The Office's last season more than 30 Rock's. And I wasn't even a HUGE fan of The Office's last season. Seriously, I don't hate 30 Rock, but it's like... if I miss an episode, or I have to wait a week or two to watch it, I don't care. And not even just my investment in it, but I laugh way more during HIMYM, TBBT, and even The Office than during 30 Rock.
10. I'm remembering now why I didn't bother watching the Emmys last year, and why I never really pay them much attention. But I was like "Oh, this year NPH is hosting and he's nominated and not against Jeremy Piven and Jim Parsons is nominated and so is HIMYM, maybe it won't suck this year!" And then the guy from Two and a Half Men beats NPH. What the absolute fuck. Who even voted for him? I mean, I was trying to gauge who would win based on the applause and cheers when they announced each nominee, and the guy who won's was like the LEAST of them all! ugh.
11. Best Actor in a Comedy: Yeah, of course it fucking goes to Alec Baldwin. Whatever. Jim Parsons deserves this times a million. I hate the Emmy voters. They're idiots. I'm just trying to make myself feel better by remember that TBBT and HIMYM premiere tomorrow night and Kris Allen's first single drops tomorrow morning.
12. I LOVE THE CLIP THEY CHOSE FOR AMERICAN IDOL. BEST MOMENT, DEFINITELY, QUEEN DUET! AWWW KRADAM. EVERYONE SHIPS YOU.
13. I'm bored by the entire reality portion of the Emmys. The only thing I've watched anything of in the past year is American Idol, and that was only for Kradam. I don't really care much about it otherwise.
14. The Emmys have been really well-hosted, but the winners have sucked. I don't know what I expect. If they didn't award Arrested Development every single year it was eligible or ever have any chance of acknowledging Veronica Mars/Kristen Bell, they don't really have any credibility with me. I mean, I was reading the few Emmys posts I've made in the past, and the one for 2006 is like "I'm happy about The Office win, but Arrested Development deserves it more. At least it wasn't Two and a Half Men." I find it said that my reaction to all the comedy awards is STILL basically "At least it's not Two and Half Men." (Except for in this case that it WAS.) WHY IS THIS SHOW STILL ON THE AIR. GOD DAMMIT. I forgot why I hate TV awards shows so much. I totally adore like all awards shows usually, with the Oscars being my absolute favorite, and I was kind of like "Hey, why did I ditch watching the Emmys last year?" This is why I like movie award shows so much more; if there's a movie you hate and it's nominated for a bunch of stuff and wins a lot, at least it will only win for one year. Then it's gone forever and you never have to deal with it again. But TV shows that suck but are constantly awarded stick around FOREVER. UGH.
15. DR. HORRIBLE YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE'S NATHAN FILLION TOO! OH MY GOD! Did Joss Whedon write the bit? omg I love this. AND FELICIA DAY AND SIMON... I FORGOT HIS LAST NAME BUT HE'S ON THE BIG BANG THEORY.
16. AWWWW STEPHEN'S SITTING RIGHT BEHIND JON!!! AND THE SHOULDER CONGRATULATION THING WAS SO CUTE AW MAN. I adore everytime Jon and Stephen interact on TV.
17. I love Ricky Gervais. I take it back; NPH can take one awards show off and Ricky Gervais can host something.
18. It's kind of wrong that the absolute best part of the Emmys wins for me is the Variety/Comedy/News whatever random category.
19. Um what where was Dexter in the Drama clip show thing? I mean, it's nominated! Come on! Dexter needs more love.
20. Best Supporting Actor in a Drama: Michael Emerson winning is pretty great. But I didn't really care that much, and NPH or Jim Parsons winning would've meant way more for me.
21. Drama Supporting Actress was a boring category. I don't want any of those shows.
22. Best Actress in a Drama: I wanted Elisabeth Moss to win. I love her. blah. I guess I don't care that much.
23. I don't understand why every year I expect that I'll enjoy the Emmys since no one I want to win ever does. sigh.
24. Best Actor in a Drama: ugh and of course neither Michael C. Hall nor Hugh Laurie win. Or even Jon Hamm! sigh. I've never seen Breaking Bad and I've heard it's great and he's great in it, and I don't care THAT much. But it'd still be nice if anyone I wanted to win would win. Especially since Michael C. Hall is brilliant and amazing, and House would be nothing without Hugh Laurie.
25. Best Comedy: 30 Rock wins. HOW SHOCKING. THIS IS A TOTALLY SURPRISING DEVELOPMENT. (HIMYM deserved to win it so much more.)
26. Best Drama: I would've been okay with nearly all the nominees for Best Drama. It should have been Dexter, but Mad Men is pretty awesome, too, so it's fine. It's weird that I'm so much more invested in comedies now. I used to barely watch any comedies, but now all my favorites are comedies. Well, Chuck I consider more a drama, but it could definitely be nominated for comedy stuff as well (EVEN THOUGH IT ISN'T WHICH SUCKS BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME OKAY).
27. Oh well. At least HIMYM was nominated. And at least Jim Parsons was nominated and at least Kaley Cuoco got to go to her first Emmys. But seriously, wtf. Who the hell votes for these awards? Are they people who have actually watched TV in the past like 5 years? Because it doesn't feel like it. (Of course, if Jim Parsons/NPH/etc. are nominated again next year, I'll probably watch again and then curse the show for sucking at life.)
I enjoy how my emotions through this go basically from "OMG I'M SO EXCITED YAY NPH AND HIMYM AND JIM PARSONS AND TBBT" and then go to "ugh everyone sucks I hate life." I was so excited for the Emmys all weekend, though, and I thought at least someone I desperately wanted to win would. But no. :(
I'm trying to pick up my mood by focusing on the fact that TBBT and HIMYM premiere tomorrow night (kl;j;lasf I AM SO EXCITED YOU HAVE NO IDEA! I'm totally unspoiled for HIMYM and... kind of spoiled for TBBT, but whatever, so excited!) and Kris Allen's new single drops tomorrow morning. Oh, but watching the Emmys has motivated me to finally pre-order season 4 of HIMYM (well, I would have done that anyways, but I had forgotten about it) and buy both seasons of TBBT (which I had been debating over, but whatever, I adore that show. And I have gift cards!). Let's just hope I have time to actually watch them when they arrive!
We have a mouse in our apartment, and it's made its way up to my room. We have a mouse trap (a capture-and-release type trap, not a killing trap) in the room, but it's evaded all the traps that around the apartment, and it's been all over the place and managed to climb up and down two flights of stairs, so I think it's too smart to be fooled into being trapped. ...it's kind of ridiculously adorable and a little part of me wants to keep it for a pet, but it's probably disease-ridden and pooping all over our closets and such, so that's probably not the best idea.
