Yesterday night I saw Michael Urie (Marc on Ugly Betty) in Hamlet! It was a really good production, and he was awesome in it. There were actually a lot of people from TV shows, some I recognized and some I didn't. Henri Lubatti (Taylor's French ex-husband on The O.C.) played Rosencrantz. Dakin Mathews (who's been in like 200 different TV shows, but most notably to me as Headmaster Charleston on Gilmore Girls and the Angel of Destiny on Charmed) played Polonius (he was very, very excellent). Then there was also Robert Foxworth as Claudius and apparently he was on Six Feet Under for a few years which I haven't seen but my parents have. And there was Linda Gehringer who was Pennilyn Lott on Gilmore Girls and someone on The West Wing in an episode I haven't gotten to yet. Hamish Linklater played Hamlet and he's on The New Adventures of Old Christine which I haven't seen but he was also really great. I think that was about all anyone would recognize. Anyways, as I said, it was really awesome (although it was a bit surreal to see all these people I recognized from TV right in front of me). I wish I could go again.

So Wednesday was graduation, and it ended up being a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Not that I thought it would be awful, I just wasn't very interested in it. But it was nice. Afterwards I ate dinner with my parents and my aunt and then Jackie, Soan, and Jane slept over at my house and played Mario Party and Karaoke and such. Then Thursday was the last beach party ever and it was just kind of eh. I think most of us were just exhausted. I ended up not being able to sleep like at all the night before and I got about a 2 hour nap in before going so I was just kind of not able to think clearly or concentrate on anything. So it ended up being pretty dull. Oh well. It wasn't awful, and it had its moments.

Anyways, I guess summer has started now. I have absolutely nothing planned except going to Warped Tour next Friday (whee excited!). I think I'm going to spend my summer watching seasons 5-7 of The West Wing (I've had them since like February but school started getting crazy so I never got around to finishing the series, but I will now), watching season 1 of Friday Night Lights (everyone on my flist seems to love it and I've been planning it for awhile, I just wanted to wait until I'd have time to watch it and go crazy about it if I love it), reading a lot of books (right now Maurice by E. M. Forster and then I think I want to read the two Jane Austen books I haven't read yet, some more stuff by the Brontes since I love Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre, maybe some Shakespeare, and I don't know what else. Maybe some of the books I've had in my bookshelf forever and haven't gotten to yet, like Middlemarch), and watching a lot of movies. It should be a good summer. (Last summer I ever get to truly relax, probably.)

Ah, yesterday was so much fun. Emma decided earlier this week that she'd take the entire saxophone section to Northwood Pizza because all of us but like 2 or 3 had come to the carwash. Daniel didn't show up because he hadn't gone to the carwash and felt bad about coming, Parsa was in San Francisco, Jordan has no spirit for marching band at all, and Eric couldn't come for some reason not explained, but everyone else was there, and it was lots of fun. I played some pool and some air hockey (ah I love air hockey!) and wasted millions of dollars (well, it seemed like that) on this arcade type game to get these sticky deformed animals. The more I got the more deformed they seemed to get. We played mafia and speed and Egyptian Rat Screw. Around... 6 or 7 me, Emma, Andrew (not a saxophone in marching band, but Emma invited both Andrew and Jackie for being drum majors as well), Brian Kim the younger, and Xiafei (I think that's how you spell his name) came to my house and ate lots of desserts my mom's hairdresser made her for winning the dessert of the month drawing which were delicious and we played Clue and Cranium. It was great fun. The sax section is totally the best section.

Beach party was not as fun. Kind of disappointing, really. The thing is, it started off really fun, I thought, so my expectations for the rest of the night rose, but then... everything just kind of sucked after that. I got really bored and the annual burying of the drum majors/directors was bad because people kept kicking sand to fill the hole which gets the sand in their eyes and mouth and all which is obviously bad, and people kept crowding around them really close, and it's like... you can't do that because then there's a lot more weight on them and it's harder to breathe and such. The worst part was when someone lit off a firecracker in the middle of our area. I mean, not only is it illegal in this city, but wtf the least you can do is not set it off in the middle of a bunch of people! That's seriously dangerous. ugh. That just pissed me off a lot.

Oh, and I also liked how Paul and Gavin managed to show up for the beach party when they've missed nearly all of marching band. And I hear Paul's excuse for missing band camp today was he was sick, but if he's too sick to come to band camp I feel he should be too sick to come to the beach party.

There were some good moments, especially early on, and I did get to see Annie which was definitely like the highlight of the day, but... ugh. Most of it was just disappointing. Oh well. At least band camp (last band camp for me ever!) is finally over. Anyways, now for some pictures!

Beach party! )

Ruby's Night )

Aw, I just checked my e-mail and one of my freshman mentees e-mailed me with a bunch of questions. That makes me feel happier. I like being able to be all helpful and such.

Beach party last night was just kind of... eh. It didn't suck, but it also wasn't as much fun as I would've liked. There were definitely some parts that were a lot of fun, but at the end it was just kind of dragging on. But of course, I have many pictures! )

Ah, summer break. How nice. Except for me it's basically just a three-day weekend, because starting Monday I have summer school for six weeks. sigh. At least summer school only goes till 12 (although it starts at like 7:15. bleh).

I think it finally sunk in that Everwood's cancelled after the episode last night. I thought it was a great episode and it just reminded me of season 1 and how much I loved it then and how much I still love it and how upset I am that it's going. Right after the episode was over, I went on BarnesandNoble.com and ordered the season 1 DVDs because I was getting all nostalgic and I haven't seen season 1 in forever and I love it so much. This show is too freaking good to be cancelled. gah. It's not fair.

Anyways. Today after school but before Symphony, Emma, Jackie, Galaxy, and I decided to go to the beach again. We didn't go to Corona Del Mar like Sunday since parking would be a bitch, so we went to Crystal Cove instead. Ah, so pretty. Pictures! Not as many as before, but still a good amount. )

Today we also had our last essay ever this year. Such a relief to be done. No more essays unti like September! I don't think I did too badly, so hopefully this essay won't ruin the A- I'm barely hanging on to. Mrs. Moore also finally returned from her maternity leave today, thankfully. So awesome to have her back.

Tomorrow is probably not much fun (but then, this whole week is not much fun). 1st period I finally present that film project with Seher (gah I better get an A+++++ for all the stress this project has caused me), after school is jazz band with the composer of a couple of the pieces we're playing, Jeff Jarvis, which in itself isn't bad, but it is bad that that means I won't get home until 4:45ish and at like... 7:00 or something is freshman, sophomore, and junior awards and I have to dress up and attend that. blah. Too busy.

Yesterday was much fun. I went to the beach with a bunch of people for Richard's surprise birthday party (even though his birthday was 2 months ago. But, hey, it was definitely a surprise!). Then afterwards, when the beach closed at like 10, we went to Richard's house for awhile and just played video games and such. I had to leave at like 11:45 since my mom didn't want me driving home past midnight, but it was still fun.

Very many pictures! Dial-up users beware! )

If you made it through all those pictures, I congratulate you. I had like probably over 100 taken, but I deleted a bunch while I was at the beach. When I uploaded them to my computer, though, I still had like 78, and I tried to cut it down even more, but the beach is just too pretty! I mean, I cut it down some, but there are definitely still a lot of pictures left.

Beach party was pretty bleh. I don't know. I was hoping it'd be a lot better because so far, this year has been better than last years, but... it wasn't that much better. I guess it was overall, but... blah. The freshman year beach parties were the best. I've been in a really like... I don't know. Depressed sort of mood recently. On Thursday night it was like... all good through the parent meeting until the very, very end where I started suddenly thinking these stupid pessimistic thoughts and then... I'm very obsessive over things so I continued to obsess over the pessimistic thoughts for several hours, and they carried over into today, and it's just all been very not fun. I'll swing back up soon, though, I'm hoping.

Also, found out that I probably can't go to the Ruby's night after marching band rehearsal next Tuesday (band camp's over and school won't have started yet, but we have a music rehearsal Tuesday from noon to 3). I have no ride. Or, I might have a ride there, or a ride back, but not both. This is why I need my own car. I was looking forward to it, too. All the Ruby's nights I've been to have been fun, unlike the beach parties. Whatever, I suppose it'd be better if I stayed home and finished the work I need to do before next week. It's still not helping my bad mood, though.

Tomorrow I'm going to the animal shelter early to work for... I don't know. An hour, I'm hoping? Then possibly going to the Spectrum. Tomorrow I also need to have the band website completely finished and I really should start on the assignment from my college counselor, since I have a meeting next Wednesday and I haven't done anything she assigned yet. eck.

Went to bed with a really bad headache last night and when I woke up, it was still there. And then I had to go to my tenor sax lesson which I normally hate enough as it is, so my headache wasn't exactly making it any better. It's all right now, though, but bleh. Crappy morning.

Managed to listen to the Motion City Soundtrack CD in its entirety, and I really like it. Also listened to about half of the Garbage CD. So, only 2 1/2 CDs left to listen to!

Watched Queer as Folk 507 )

Anyways. I got the pictures back from the band beach party last week. Image-heavy. You have been warned.
pictures! )

And that's all for the pictures. I totally love the colors of them. I didn't even do that much touch up in photoshop, that's pretty much how they came out. So pretty. :D

In the time that it's taken me to type this post out, I've finished the Garbage CD and the Alkaline Trio CD (both of which ended up being very good, as the Weezer and Motion City Soundtrack CDs did) and have started listening to the Starting Line CD. I think I'll stop it now, though, and go back out and watch more Felicity. I still have more than half the season left.
