I've been updating so infrequently, but nothing's really been happening. Last Saturday I went to the Spectrum with Annie which was awesome because I hadn't seen Annie since we saw Miss Saigon in like May, but also sucked because it was like the hottest day of the year (it was 98 degrees when I was driving home at 5:30. Ridiculous). But it was awesome seeing her again, and I got three new CDs: 30 Second to Mars's A Beautiful Lie, Mike Doughty's Haughty Melodic, and Muse's Black Holes and Relevations.

Since then, I've pretty much just been rewatching Queer as Folk. I've watched up to 303, so I should be done by Saturday I would think. I'll probably make a post about some random thoughts I've had while rewatching once I finish.

I had my senior picture on Tuesday, which was... okay. I don't know, it just felt weird, because I had to smile like continuously and I don't know. It was just weird. Hopefully I'll get a decent shot. Glad it's done with, in any case.

New York in just a little over a week! It seemed so far away, and now it's so close! Ah, I'm excited.

Anyways, I guess I should study a bit for my political science test tomorrow. So close to being done with summer school! And then more Queer as Folk! :D

So, I forgot to mention I wouldn't be online this weekend becaused I'd be gone all Saturday and Sunday for the Chapman Honor Band.

Chapman on Saturday was from 8 AM to 8 PM and then Sunday from 9 AM to 6 PM (our concert was at the end of Sunday). Saturday night Galaxy and Emma slept over because they also are in Chapman and we were carpooling and it made things over. The sleeping over was fun, even if we had to go to bed at like 12:30 to wake up the next morning at 7:30.

Chapman itself was... eh. Our Wind Ensemble is better than that honor band. I mean, that sounds like an exaggeration, but, ok, one of the other (of 8! 8! How ridiculous!) tenors who was sitting next to me played this staccato note as legato. And ok, it sounds stupid when I say it like that, but it wasn't just once, it was every freaking time we played it, and it was a slow section, and come on! You should know what a staccato is if you're in an honor band! And he also couldn't do basic rhythms at all. And most of the tenors had horrible tones and played loudly and everytime they tongued a note it was accented, even during stagger breathing, which no, not what you're supposed to do. bleh. Just bad. Oh well.

After Chapman ended today, I went to Woodbridge Center for dinner and then saw Rent with Emma, Galaxy, Matt Chen, Michele Wong, and Kiyoshi. Emma, Galaxy, and Matt hadn't seen it before, and I don't think Michele or Kiyoshi had seen it either (it was my 4th time, btw). Oh, man. I freaking love that movie so much. I'd think I'd be sick of it by now, but no. I'd be perfectly willing (even eager) to see it again in the next couple of days. I love that everytime I catch little things that are just so... awesome. Like during "Today 4 U" when Angel gets to the part where Collins was "moaning and groaning on the cold concrete" and then there's a shot of Collins and he's shaking his head and mouthing something like "No, I wasn't" to Roger and Mark, and ah! I just love it! Also, first time I've cried actually in a movie theater (didn't even do that for Brokeback Mountain). Of course, if I was at home, it would've been far worse. But still.

Anyways. Nice weekend, even if the Chapman group sucked. No school tomorrow for some sort of random holiday! Excellent.

Hee. Today was cool, because between the time after school and before Symphony, me and a bunch of people went to my house and Galaxy and I baked a cake and it was awesome.

Yesterday I saw the 5 hour BBC Pride and Prejudice with Emma, Soan, and Galaxy, which was pretty good. And then was the Golden Globes, which actually pleased me more than I thought it would.

Lots of comments to catch up on, since I wasn't home much yesterday or today. Tomorrow I should be more present here.

Blah, nothing to say. I'm being very boring right now, I know. Oh! But I got my math test back from last week and I got a 96!!! My grade has now been raised from an 88.6 to a 90.0! Good, but also bad just in the sense that at least if I had bombed it, I wouldn't have to worry about the final. Now I'm so close to not having an A- that I really need to study hard for the final. But I think I can do it, thankfully. And I think I'm just not going to bother worrying about Euro, since I'd have to get like 100's on both the quiz Friday and the final and participate in this ridiculous simulation we have tomorrow that I don't want to participate in and even if I did I wouldn't be able to because the people in my group are assholes and won't let me talk. So I think I'll just study enough to get a B in the class and then study my ass off for the AP exam.

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
1. "There's a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of It Yet" - Panic! at the Disco
2. "The Music or the Misery" - Fall Out Boy
3. "Aside" - The Weakerthans
4. "Lover I Don't Have to Love" - Bright Eyes
5. "La Vie Boheme" - Rent
6. "New Kid" - Old 97's
7. "Sic Transit Gloria" - Brand New

New layout because I am obsessed. [livejournal.com profile] brokenrecord__. I've been wanting a new layout for like a month but I haven't really been... into anything enough to make anything, I guess. Don't know how long this will last because it's kind of different from what I usually have, but I like it for now.

Anyways, today consisted of not doing much. I did practice my audition music some more and I think my music actually might go all right. I'm fucked for the scales, but last year when they asked me for one scale I played several notes from an entirely different scale before being all "er. Wait. No. Let me try again." and even then I still messed it up. And I still ended up getting in. So, I think the music's more important than the scales. We'll see. I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

I also read Nick Hornby's A Long Way Down today, and it was excellent. I want to read more of his stuff.

Tomorrow I may be doing something with Emma and Mukul and possibly other people? We're not very good at working out the details. But I assume it will happen. I want to try to get us to see Brokeback Mountain, because I think Emma is actually interested in seeing it, and I think it would be fun to force Mukul to see it. Hey, there's more man-on-woman sex than man-on-man sex! I think we could convince him with that. And at some point, I really need to go to the animal shelter. sigh.

Wheee, I got this CD I ordered a couple days ago, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out from Panic! At the Disco. They're playing with Motion City Soundtrack, Fall Out Boy, The Starting Line, and Boys Night Out at this concert I'm going to on Halloween. Amazon.com said it wouldn't be here till the 18th, but it totally lied.

Today was kind of rough: quiz in every period from 1st to 4th. The Euro one was actually way easier than I thought it would be. The chemistry one... eh. I don't think I did exceptionally well. I need to start studying more for chem, because I only have a 91 and I'm afraid it'll drop lower once we start getting into harder units. =/ The pre-calc one was fine until I went back and realized I had done one problem entirely done. Right as I erased all my work and answer, the bell rang. guh. I think I scribbled something down. Hopefully I can get some partial credit. French was easy, even though my entire studying time for it was for 5 minutes during break.

PSAT tomorrow! I really want to do well, because I think I have a chance at qualifying for a National Merit Scholarship, and that would be awesome. So, after briefly checking up on my friendslist, I'll probably spend the rest of the afternoon/night studying, with a possible break to watch Lost.

Seven current favorite songs! (no particular order)
1. Time's Up - Donots
2. Dance, Dance - Fall Out Boy
3. Waiting - Green Day
4. Black Mamba - The Academy Is
5. Bruised - Jack's Mannequin
6. The World - Starting Line
7. Aside - The Weakerthans

Volunteered at the animal shelter, and my time is now 6 1/2 hours for September (7 hours 46 min total). I need an hour and a half more by Saturday. bleh. Not going to happen. Might go in Friday afternoon. Don't know.

Charmed )

So, I didn't finish the seminar like I planned. I did all my other homework early enough, but I procrastinated starting the seminar all weekend. I ended up finishing the chart. blah. I think I'll just have Seher do the outline, e-mail it to me, and I can do the thesis and conclusion. I'm so looking forward to this week being over. Or, to it being Wednesday night, and then jump to Friday night. I like that plan.

Oh my god. They played "Everything is Alright" by Motion City Soundtrack on KROQ today as the Catch of the Day. I'm really torn about this. On one hand it's good because they're a great band and they deserve all the exposure they can get. On the other hand... I don't want them to become this huge band that everyone knows about and become overexposed and so on. But being all possessive of them is ridiculous because just because I heard about them first doesn't mean I deserve to be a fan more than anyone else does. I'm still unsure about this, though.

Anyways. So, [livejournal.com profile] beaute__exquise asked for people to give music recs. I went totally overboard and uploaded a bunch of songs and I figured I'd post them all here since there were so many (and it was kind of a waste to upload all those for only one person) to give everyone else an oppurtunity to download the songs.

Song downloads )

Also, got the SAT diagnostic scores from last night back. Babbling about the scores )

Lastly, a meme. 20 Happiest TV Moments )
