omg I GOT SO MUCH DONE THIS WEEKEND. I'm like... I don't know. Amazed and super proud of myself. Whenever I have a lot of stuff going on, I tend to make lists so I can cross off stuff I get done with, but usually they're like... lists of ideals and I never actually get to EVERYTHING. But this weekend I actually totally did! Oh man this is going to make this week and next week and really the rest of the semester so much less stressful. When I go to the library, I actually get work done! And it's somehow not as much of a pain as getting work done in my apartment is. On Sunday I was like "...well, I got a lot done Saturday, and I don't feel like going to the library, so I'll just stay here. I can totally get stuff done!" And then it was past 1 PM and I hadn't done anything, so I was like "ugh ok this isn't going to happen. Fine I'll go to the library." And then I got two major things done in less than an hour! I need to remember this next time I'm super busy. It feels so good to be productive!

I spent some of the afternoon Sunday finally cleaning and organizing my desk and closet (because I actually had the time to!), which had kind of become a mess. And then I took pictures of my room and the kitchen/living/dining area of the apartment, so I'll finally actually post pictures of the place probably on the weekend. I mostly decided to finally take them because I'll be seeing my aunt on Thanksgiving, and she hasn't seen the place obviously, and I know she'll want to know about it and all. Plus, my dad hasn't seen it since I moved in, and we added posters and some furniture and moved some furniture since he saw it last, and I promised I'd take pictures of it to show him, too. So yeah.

I have my second Discrete Math midterm tomorrow. I'm debating how much to study for it. I mean, here's the thing: as I've mentioned like a million times by now, I'm taking the class pass/fail, I have an A currently, we still have a take-home final, project, and several hw assignments left (all of which I'll probably do pretty well on, so they should all bring up my grade if it falls. Except maybe the project. But the rest, definitely), the midterm is open-book and open-notes (and I take great notes), and we can earn half the points we lose back if we correct the test afterwards. Also, I hate the class. And I wouldn't know how to study for the midterm, since based on the last midterm, several of the problems will be theorems we haven't seen before that we need to prove based on skills we learned proving other theorems. So I'm pretty much leaning towards collecting all my graded homework assignments, putting them in my backpack, and... not doing anything else. I mean, I barely studied for the first one (which was not open-book, open-notes) and I got an 85 (which I revised and so it became a 92.5). I'm pretty sure I just convinced myself to not study at all for this test. We'll see how it goes. Even if I got a 0 (which would not happen; I mean, I've been doing well in the class so far because I do understand many of the concepts, so I should get at least SOME points), I could revise it up to a 50, and a 50 on the midterm would not drop my grade below a C-. Ok, not studying. Instead I think I'll work on the draft of the project that's due a week from Tuesday since I don't want to have to work on it over Thanksgiving break or last minute next Monday.

I finally got my Farscape DVDs! They're so nice and shiny. I think I'll take them home with me over Thanksgiving so I'm not tempted to start them before the semester is over. I definitely do not have time for that. Ah I'm so excited for Thanksgiving break. Not much longer now!

How I Met Your Mother )

The Big Bang Theory )

Gossip Girl )

I have registration for classes tomorrow! I'm so excited. The classes I'm planning on taking next semester (provided they don't all fill up) I am looking forward to so much, especially compared to the stuff I'm taking this semester. Next semester is more about taking classes I actually want to take rather than just classes to fulfill requirements. So that'll be great. And there's this one class I desperately want to take that originally was a senior seminar that wouldn't be offered next year, and I was going to beg the professor to let me in and try to justify it by saying that technically I'll be a senior next semester in terms of credits (which I actually feel is a pretty reasonable point). But then they changed it to just a general advanced course, not seniors only, so I can take it without having to talk to anyone. So clearly I am meant to take this class! And the class is only 16 people and the best psych professor whom everyone loves is teaching it, so I was terrified that it would fill up before I could register. But registration started Monday for seniors, and so far only 3 people have signed up! And a huge portion of the junior class is studying abroad next semester. So basically, I think I should be able to get into the class! I'm so excited about this class and next semester, it's not even fun. I'll be so happy when this semester is done with.

I've also been researching grad schools again, and there is 1 program that I've totally fallen in love with, and now I'm mentally kicking myself because I'm going to be so disappointed if I don't get in. I don't want to get my heart set on it too much and then not be able to. I mean, luckily, unlike with undergrad, if I don't get in I can easily just apply the year after. But I want to get on with it already so I can finish school and start working and all that. Really I wish I could just apply already and go next year, but... obviously that is not possible. Oh well. Senior year will be here before I know it, I'm sure. And who knows, by next year maybe I'll have totally changed my mind again and have other plans for my future.

I totally did end up getting the complete series of Farscape. IT WAS SO ON SALE! I COULDN'T RESIST! Anyways, I haven't checked my school mail (where the DVDs are being sent) for like over a week, so I don't know if it's here yet, but they were supposed to go on sale today, so I'm assuming it'll arrive in the next few days. There's no hurry, seeing as I'll have no time to watch them anytime soon. But I'll probably watch them over winter break, which will be fun since I haven't seen any of the episodes since I first watched the series nearly 2 years ago, 2nd semester of freshman year.

I totally have the urge to do a huge picspam with a bunch of "Best of the Decade" lists at the end of the year. Like best movies of the decade, best TV shows, characters, episodes, etc. I don't know if I'll have time, though. My finals go all the way until December 19th this year, and then there'll be a bunch of stuff going on with Christmas and New Year's and all that. But we'll see. Maybe by me mentioning it, I'll actually do it.

Bones )

Ugly Betty )

Am I the only one who still watches Ugly Betty? I'm guessing so. Not that I blame anyone. Most of the time I wonder why I'm still watching it (although it has been better this season so far, IMO). Seriously, the reasons I still watch Ugly Betty are basically: Marc, Amanda, Justin, Marc/Justin friendship, and Daniel occasionally. That's pretty much it. If the show could just be about them and not Betty and her stupid drama, then I would be all for that.

The complete series of Farscape is coming out on DVD next Tuesday and it's on sale for only like $75! Oh man, I am so tempted to buy it! $75 for 4 seasons is a ridiculously amazing deal! That's less than $20 a season! If I saw like season 2 by itself randomly listed as $20, I would get it immediately, no questions asked! But... $75 is a lot to spend in one go when I don't have the job and have no intention of getting a job anytime soon. On the other hand, I haven't bought a DVD set with my own money (meaning, not given to me as a gift or bought with gift cards for Barnes and Noble or Amazon) since... high school? I've been super cheap since I graduated from high school, and even during high school I was pretty cheap and wouldn't buy DVD sets that often. And I did have a job the summer before last and made about $1200 in all, and I don't need that money to pay for food/housing/etc.; I've just been saving it for the most part. Well, some of it has gone for gas (although not a whole lot since I don't have a car here; I only use my car at home, and I'm at home for less than half the year, and I don't go out that often). But for the most part, I haven't spent any of that money. So maybe I should splurge for once and buy it? IT'S OVER 50% OFF THE LISTED PRICE! LESS THAN $20 A SEASON! THERE'S FREE SHIPPING! As cheap as I am, I really cannot resist a sale. And I do adore the show, so I'd definitely want to get the seasons on DVD at some point in my life.

Ok, I think I've convinced myself to buy it. If there's ever a point in my life where I'm totally out of money and wish I had $75 left to pay rent or buy food or something, remind me of this moment.

Yesterday during breakfast I burned my pinky finger when I accidentally ladled maple syrup onto it. wtf. I had no idea they kept it that hot. Stupid cafeteria. I feel like I'm very accident-prone. I mean, I don't get into loads of accidents, but I feel like all the accidents I get into are absolutely ridiculous. Like burning my finger on maple syrup. sigh.

Anyways, I was not very productive this weekend. My room is entirely cleaned, though! Well, except for my desk (I was just kind of lazy, but I'll do that soon. It's not like my whole desk - the top is entirely clean and organized - but the inside drawer where I keep all my pens/pencils/etc) and my bookshelf (I figured I'd wait until my mom sent my books because I'd just have to redo it anyways).

I spent the weekend (besides cleaning my room) reading a bunch of original fic and starting to watch the Legend of the Seeker. I think I like it so far (I've gotten through episode 8), but most importantly, omg prettiest show ever! Seriously, it is absolutely gorgeous. I saw caps of it and I thought it was just pretty because someone prettied up the caps, but now, it's an absolutely gorgeous show. I keep getting confused by the fact that everyone has American accents, and I feel like that's one of the reasons I'm not totally in love with it, which is kind of ridiculous. I mean, logically English wasn't even a language at the time it was set (or at least not in its current form), so it wouldn't make any more sense if they had English accents, but I seriously keep expecting everyone to have English accents. Even Australian would make more sense to me for some reason. My brain is weird. (Although I just checked and I know the show films in New Zealand and the only one of them who ISN'T from Australia or New Zealand is the actress who plays Kahlen, so I feel like they should just use their natural accents. Kind of like how Farscape was filmed in Australia and loads of the characters had Australian accents. Especially since a lot of the guest stars don't have the best American accents, so it just comes through as Australian anyways. And even the actor who plays Richard slips a fair amount). This also is making me really want to watch Merlin. Why is it so long until there are new episodes of Merlin? Not fair.

It's only the second week back and I already have a test on Friday. gah. At least it's just in German. But still, annoying. Especially since my books/DVDs should arrive this week and there's a lot of new TV this week. Seriously, I think there are more new episodes airing tonight (House, HIMYM, The Big Bang Theory, Heroes, Chuck, Gossip Girl) than all last week.

I can't believe that it's already February. This year just started! Anyways, to wrap-up January, I watched 16 movies (...I don't know how that's possible. I wasn't even TRYING to see that many movies. Last year I was trying for 150 for the whole year and I remember struggling to get to 12 in January so I'd be on track.), 234 episodes of TV (oh god, I knew I watched a lot of TV, but that's more than I expected. I think it's primarily due to mainlining 7 seasons of Scrubs in less than a week. Also, I'm pretty sure I'm missing some episodes in there. It's hard to keep track of everything.), and 1 book (ugh I'm failing at reading more! I'm almost surprised I got to 1 book. Over half the book I read in December, too. sigh). Anyway, I'm going to finish watching an episode of Legend of the Seeker, and then I have class.

Wow, this summer is going by quickly. How have I been home for a month already? I haven't even done anything, really. I mean, I guess I'm closer to having a job than I was a month ago, but that's kind of it. And I don't even have a job yet. I turned in the reference check sheets on Monday and the guy at the interview said they'd call me after those were in, but it's now Thursday and no one's contacted me. I'm kind of concerned that they didn't even get them or they got misplaced or something, since the girl I gave them to looked a little confused about what to do with them. =/ Ugh, I really want this job. Mostly for the free movies, because there are several movies coming out this summer that I want to see in theaters, but also just because I want to be done looking for a job. I mean, I really only have 2 months left before I have to leave again, which isn't a lot of time, and I would like to actually make some money. sigh. Hopefully they'll call today.

So I have my windows open in my room since it's always the warmest or coldest room in the house, depending on whether the air conditioning is on or not, and this morning these people were delivering a bunch of gravel to my driveway since we're redoing the side yard. Anyways, they arrived at like 7 AM and it woke me up because I could hear everything really loudly due to my windows being open, which was annoying. But I went back to sleep and had a dream where I woke up at like 9 AM and did a rewatch of the first season of Farscape. Except for some reason I skipped some episodes, including The Flax and A Human Reaction, which makes no sense at all, since if I were going to skip any episodes they would definitely not be those two. But anyways, I woke up at a reasonable time later and was incredibly disoriented because I thought I had already woken up and done stuff that day. Kind of weird. But that all was mostly just to say that now I really feel like doing a Farscape rewatch. I probably won't since there are other shows I also want to rewatch which I haven't seen for longer and I want to watch more movies and read more books and other stuff and I just watched all 4 seasons very recently. But I still have a strong urge to right now. I doubt I will until next summer, at the earliest, though.

Have I mentioned that a week or two ago, I rented Batman Begins on iTunes and saw it for the first time (I know, I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who didn't see it when it first came out) and I totally adored it, and now I'm even more ridiculously excited about The Dark Knight coming out? Because I was excited before just because it looked pretty awesome and it's one of Heath Ledger's last films, but now I actually want to see it because I loved the first one so much. I hope it doesn't suck like most sequels do. But Christopher Nolan is pretty brilliant, IMO (Memento is one of my favorite movies ever), so hopefully it'll kick ass. (I'm pretty sure everyone else has already had these thoughts and I'm a little late here, but oh well.)

Please request photos for my photo meme! Three people have requested photos now (two there and one on Facebook), but I'd still like more! I am going to post reminders about this and badger more people into requesting photos probably every day for the next week, just to warn you. I'd really like to take loads of photos.

I officially have tickets to the Panic! at the Disco/Motion City Soundtrack (and others, but those are the two I'm going for) concert in Anaheim in June. I can't believe I've only seen Panic! (I know there's no exclamation point anymore, but it's hard to break the habit!) once. And it was so long ago! I think... October of my junior year of high school, so that would be... 2005! Fever had been out for only a month! There was no Jon Walker! (...well, he still existed. But you know what I mean) Actually, that's the last time I saw MCS, too (although I've seen them more times. I think three total?). I'm assuming I'm going alone which will kind of suck when waiting in line, but it's near impossible to stick together in the pit anyways, so that won't really matter. And I hate that it's a huge venue (why couldn't they play at Bren Events Center? Or House of Blues Anaheim?). But at least it's on a Saturday night, so if I do get a job over the summer, like I'm planning, I'll still be able to go.

Meme time! List 5 TV Credits you love, which you don't fast-forward. The credits. )

Time to start making flashcards for my test on Friday and maybe do the other assignment I have to do for Friday.

The fact that the strike is very possibly about to be over makes me very happy. Especially the fact that there might even be a few more episodes of some shows this season, since I had accepted that this season was lost awhile ago, and really was mostly afraid of the future of next season.

Anyways, I have a 5 page paper due Wednesday, a test on Friday, possibly another small paper due Friday, and a ridiculous amount of reading to do (none of which I've started yet, of course), but I finally finished the entire series of Farscape, including the miniseries, so clearly posting about that is more important (especially since I know there are very few people on my flist who have watched the show). This is going to be a very long post. Just warning you now. Spoilers for the entire series including The Peacekeeper Wars.Farscape )

If you didn't read all that but you're vaguely interested in Farscape and haven't seen any of it yet, I'll warn you that it starts off slow, but if you stick with it, it really pays off. The first season is my least favorite overall, but it gets so very good, especially in seasons 2 and 3. So if you do decide to try it, give it a chance past the first half of the first season.

Ok, now I should do some work.

Apparently Kal Penn is coming to my school tomorrow during lunch. I have absolutely no idea why. My morning class was canceled, though, so I can go early and check out what's going on.

I am going to do a longer post at some point during the week because there are a bunch of things I've been meaning to post about but keep forgetting about, but I wanted to post now to ask a question. I've been watching Farscape and I'm up to the second half of season 2. I heard that there's a miniseries and also webisodes (I'm not sure if these have aired yet). So my question is, where do they fit in with the series? Is the miniseries after the fourth season, and then the webisodes are after that? That's what I'm assuming. Have the webisodes even aired yet? I have no idea if there's anyone on my flist that even watches Farscape, but I'm hoping there's someone. I'd look around myself, but I'm afraid of getting spoiled for the rest of the series if I do that, and I'd like to remain unspoiled. So yeah, if anyone knows, I would really appreciate if you let me know.

Anyways, I have 75 pages of reading to do for tomorrow (which may not sound a lot, but it's on Saussure and Foucault and a bunch of stuff I don't understand that makes my brain hurt, and reading 30 pages of it last week was bad enough) that I want to get done so I don't feel guilty for spending the rest of the night watching Farscape when I should be doing a million other things. (I really need to learn not to start new TV shows that I know I'm going to get hooked on during school, even if it is only the first week. I have tests and papers already due this week and next week! sigh.)
