Oh man, I totally didn't find out until yesterday that Dollhouse is premiering Friday! I'm very excited (the promos look so good!), but I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. I feel like if I get overly excited, I'll build it up too much and then my expectations will just be way too high and I'll inevitably find it disappointing. But I'm still letting myself be a little excited about it.

I think the plot-y stuff on Heroes has gotten better since it came back, but I still am not very interested in it, and I realized that's because I still don't care about any of the characters left. Like, I like Sylar, and... that's pretty much it. Everyone else is annoying me for one reason or another. And I'm still slightly bitter about them killing off Elle. She was one of the few reasons I was still watching (even though I know that's an unpopular opinion). Although, Spoilers for lastest episode ) Actually, I wish the plot-y stuff would get absolutely terrible again, so then I might actually stop watching it. It's not like I don't have enough shows on Mondays as it is.

School stuff has been going ok. School stuff. )

Ok, I have an hour before Wind Ensemble, and I totally should start getting some work done because I have a quiz in Differential Equations tomorrow, but instead I'll probably waste time online or read a book (since my books and DVDs my mom sent me finally came yesterday!) or something.

Why can't LJ update their servers or whatever they were doing that caused four hours of downtime on a Monday or Wednesday when I'm out of my room for several hours? Clearly they didn't consult with me on this. (And yes, the whole world does revolve around me, obviously.)

Anyways, registration for spring was this morning. I'm mostly happy, but a little disappointed. Spring 2009 classes )

I feel like talking about last night's Heroes and Heroes in general this season. Heroes Season 3 )

I've felt compelled recently to make a picspam over the reasons why everyone should be watching Chuck. I'm not really sure how many people on my flist watch Chuck, but I don't see it mentioned very often, and it really should be, because it's awesome. I mean, it's not my favorite show this season even, but I just feel like it doesn't get enough love. But I was also planning a finales picspam for this month for [livejournal.com profile] picspammy and I haven't even started on that other than making a list of finales I love (but I haven't even narrowed down that list), and considering the month's half over, maybe I should work on that. Or I could just give that up. I don't know. (My life is filled with such tough decisions.)

Thanksgiving is so close! I can't wait. And then after that, there's only a week and a half until this semester is over. It's weird having Thanksgiving be so close to the end of the semester (last year it was 3 1/2 weeks). It's good, though. For the most part. I might have to start studying for some tests over the break that I have the last week before finals. That would suck, but it would be better than writing a paper like I had to do during Fall Break, and it would make that last week before finals much easier and less stressful.
brokenrecord: (Default)
So I set my alarm to get me up at 8:30 this morning because I need to write a 5-page paper today (btw, current word count = 0! I'm doing well here.) and I don't have class until 3 on Tuesdays. And then there was a power outage in the middle of the night last night in the dorms. So I didn't wake up until 10:15. sigh. At least I didn't have class this morning. I was talking to a girl in my German lab, and she said that you could tell who used their cell phones as alarm clocks and who used actual alarm clocks plugged into the wall by who actually got to class on-time. But yeah, so I lost a couple hours of work due to that. I totally would have gotten up sooner if my bed was de-lofted because then I would have been able to see that the clock wasn't working since I totally wake up at 7 AM every morning because that's when people come to clean the bathrooms and lounge area and stuff (very loudly. And yes, this is VERY annoying. I'd like to sleep in past 7!), but I couldn't see the clock and I forgot to put on my watch last night when I went to sleep, which I usually have on, and yeah, basically, that kind of sucked.

But the paper isn't due until Friday, so at least I do have time. I just wanted to finish it today because my parents are coming up Thursday and I'd like to spend time with them rather than writing a paper. And Wednesday I'll only have a few hours because of all my classes and homework I'll have to do that's due Friday and such. Of course, the several hours I wasted today procrastinating on-line not writing my paper had nothing to do with the power outage. But whatever. It'll be fine. I'll get it done. And she describes it as a library research paper, but it's really not, because all it involves is summarizing 4 articles on a topic (my topic is international adoption) and then finding two organizations that deal with problems relating to the topic and describing how they help parents in that situation. So, really, it's pretty much nothing, and I've written longer papers in the same amount of time where I've had to do much more analysis. So that's probably why I'm not freaking out yet. Although maybe it would be better if I were freaking out, because then I'd actually get something done!

Also, remember how I was worried about the two math quizzes from last week? Well, we got full credit on the group quiz that I thought I had screwed up for my group, and I initially got a 15/20 on the second quiz from Friday, but then it turned out that he hadn't realized that I was using the right method and did everything right, but I just found the expression of the vector wrong (ugh, it was so stupid, because I had found the expression of the vector in the previous question correctly, and if I had just used that instead of finding it a second time, I would have gotten full credit), so I talked to him and he gave me an 18/20 (the two points off being for my ridiculously stupid math error). So that turned out well, although it would have been nice if I had gotten full credit on the second quiz so I could do worse, potentially, on future quizzes. But whatever, apparently I have a better grasp of the concepts we were learning last week than I realized.

Um, what else? My Research in Psych exam yesterday was ridiculously easy, and now I'm kind of regretting studying at all for it. I spent like 3-5 hours total Sunday studying for it when I could've spent, like, 1, and still done just as well. Well, that's assuming I did do well. I may have made stupid errors. But I could've spent that time starting this paper on Sunday instead of leaving it until today. For that matter, though, I could've started writing this paper Sunday before I started studying (because I didn't start studying until like 6), or even on Saturday, when I originally planned to start it and then did nothing.

Bottom line: I'm getting an A+ in procrastination this week! sigh.

I missed most of the TV stuff last night. I saw How I Met Your Mother which was fun, but nothing spectacular (kind of a filler episode), and Heroes, which was... fine, I guess. I liked the premiere more. I really just don't care about what happens in Heroes, though, I'm finding. I'm starting to consider not watching it anymore, but I don't know. We'll see. I would keep watching it, but there are just so many TV shows on Mondays. I really want to watch Gossip Girl, but I haven't yet. I'm not sure when I will get a chance. After this week school should get less hectic. I hope. It's mostly just hectic this week because of my parents visiting; last week was probably more hectic in terms of how much stuff I had to do. I'm really looking forward to seeing my parents, anyways.

Oh, last thing, this girl on my floor is in the final 100 for the next season of America's Next Top Model! Pretty cool. I might actually watch next season if she makes the premiere.

So, remember that math group quiz I mentioned yesterday? Well I did get my group a 20/20 on it (...I feel kind of egotistical/conceited/whatever saying that, but... I really did do all the problems, and then they just checked what I did to make sure I didn't make any stupid math errors. I mean, I explained how to get the answers and stuff to them when they didn't get it, I didn't just take the quiz and do it, but yeah), and not only that, but we were the only group to get a perfect score. And actually most people failed it (I think most people were saying they got around a 9-11 on it).

So then, our professor had to go take a conference call for the first half of class because he's on this national math board of something or other and he's the chair and it was supposed to be at 4:30 but the time zones got confused and it ended up being at 3:30, at the start of class. So he was like to me "You go to the board and explain how you got the answers to every problem because you were in the only group who got a perfect score and you've gotten perfect scores on all the other quizzes this semester so far." So I spent the first half hour of class explaining the quiz problems to my class. Which... was weird. I'm shy, ok? And I don't really know anyone in that class. Actually I do kind of know a couple of people now so it wasn't as awkward as it could've been, but it also wasn't like I was just explaining stuff to a bunch of friends, you know? So yeah. I don't know, it just felt awkward. I'm actually really surprised everyone did so poorly. I mean, I had no idea what was going on in class most of the week, but then I did the homework and read the sections in the book and... it was laid out pretty clearly. At least, I thought so. It's not like I studied any, other than doing the homework. But whatever, now I feel better if I cost my group points on the project since I helped them on the quiz. And the professor was like "Well, you all pretty much sucked, so we're going to take an additional quiz this week with all the same questions (except with different numbers), and it'll be a take home quiz, and that means you can drop one more quiz score from this semester, and most of you will probably want to drop this one." So that works out well for me, since I know what I'm doing and I get to both keep this score and presumably do well on the take-home quiz, too.

Anyways. Enough about school for a little bit! I'm actually going to talk about TV for the first time in forever! I watched the season premiere of Chuck yesterday (it's up on Hulu.com even though it doesn't premiere until next week) and oh man I forgot how much I love this show. I think this season is looking even better than last season, though. Minor spoilage )

Also:

Gossip Girl )

How I Met Your Mother )

Heroes )

I still haven't watched Prison Break, but whatever. It's sucking a fair amount this season, not that that should be surprising. I wouldn't watch if it weren't for Michael/Sara.

Ok now I need to study for my German test tomorrow and write a 5 page reaction paper and not forget to go to my German lab at 3 this time (sldkfj I still can't believe I did that). I probably won't have anytime to watch anything tonight since I spent most of this morning catching up on last night's TV. Oh well.

So I wrote this up like a month ago and was just waiting for the Doctor Who finale to post, but then it came and I totally forgot about it. But anyways, since I did a short review of all the shows I watched last year, I figured I'd do the same for this year. There are spoilers, so if you haven't seen all of a TV show that aired this year then you might not want to read it (the shows under the cut are Battlestar Galactica, The Black Donnellys, Doctor Who, Gilmore Girls, Heroes, House, Lost, My Name is Earl, The O.C., The Office, Prison Break, Studio 60, Supernatural, Torchwood, Ugly Betty, and Veronica Mars). 2006-2007 Television Season )

I totally caught my mom watching a rerun of Ugly Betty last night. I'm so awesome at getting her to watch the TV shows I like.
brokenrecord: (Default)
So we've started Much Ado About Nothing in English and we're watching the movie along with reading it, and Wilson from House (aka Robert Sean Leonard) is in it! That made me happy to discover. Also, I have such a love for Kenneth Branagh now. I mean we saw most of the version of Hamlet that he stars in and he was great in it, but seeing him in this made me really love him. And Emma Thompson is also in it and awesome. This movie is so fun to watch. :D

Prison Break )

Heroes )

Studio 60 )

There was a promo for The Black Donnellys, and ah it looks so good. I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't seen the pilot even though I know it's floating around LJ, but everyone on my flist seems to absolutely love it, and it seems really interesting. I'm planning on watching it when it airs (in March, right?), I just don't want to watch the pilot now in case I absolutely love it because then I'll be going crazy waiting for it to premiere. But I am looking forward to it.

ugh. I'm sick. I hate being sick. I guess I should just be thankful I didn't get sick the day before finals like I did last year.

I spent Saturday and Sunday watching The West Wing Season 1 DVDs that Jackie and Andrew gave me. The West Wing )

I'm buying season 2 on iTunes since I have that $150 gift certificate from my dad for iTunes and it's cheaper and faster than Amazon. Now I just need to figure out what to do about the other 5 seasons.

Prison Break, Heroes, and Studio 60 on tonight! I love Monday night TV. I really loved last week's episode of Heroes (I'm so glad I decided to stick with this show, because it got so much better after the first episode, and it just keeps improving), and last week's Prison Break, so I'm especially looking forward to those. Studio 60... eh. I absolutely hate the way they characterized Danny last week (way to make something totally sweet and adorable get incredibly creepy and stalkerish within like 5 minutes). But I love Matt and Jack and Wilson White and Tom and Lucy so I'm still looking forward to the show.

Prison Break )

Heroes )

Skipping Studio 60 tonight just because I felt like it. Well, and I prefer watching it when I can fastforward through the commercials, and I wanted to have some time before going to bed to start researching Tufts since I have an interview with an alum from Tufts on Wednesday.

Speaking of interviews, I had my first interview with an admissions officer from Goucher yesterday up in Universal City. I think it went pretty well. I mean, it's like... I don't think it'll hurt me at all, but I don't think it'll tip me over the edge, either. I don't think it'll really have any impact on whether I get in or not, basically. Which is fine, I don't think I really needed it to, my stats are good enough for Goucher, and I mainly wanted to use it as a practice before my interview with Tufts. The admissions officer was very friendly and very talkative, and she made me a lot more interested in Goucher than I was before.

But yeah, anyways, the interview went well. The only suck part was that I wore the most uncomfortable shoes known to man, and within like 5 minutes of walking, I had blisters like... where the achille's heel, or whatever it's called, is, and on my pinky toes, and my feet still hurt. blah.

One more full day of school left, then minimum day on Wednesday, and then 4-day weekend! Ah, I can't wait. I really need a break.

Torchwood )

Prison Break )

Nothing to say about Heroes, but I'm still really enjoying it. (I love Hiro! I doubt I'd love the show as much if it weren't for him.) Skipping Studio 60 tonight because I wanted to post this and I have a physics test, chem quiz, and French quiz to study for, and I've studied for them all some but I feel like I should study more (especially for physics). I'll watch it by Thursday, since Friday there's no school so I'll have plenty of time Thursday afternoon.

Ah but before studying for physics, I totally had this awesome dream last night. I was in like... Chicago, I think? (no idea why, never been there before and don't have a great desire to visit) and I think I was trying to see Wicked with someone? Someone was with me, but I don't remember who. Anyways for some reason I went into this stairwell at the place where I was trying to see Wicked and I was talking to my friend and all of a sudden there was John Krasinski! And he was chatting with BJ Novak and someone else for some reason there and I totally freaked out and when BJ Novak and the other person went away, I went up to him and started talking to him about how awesome The Office was and how much the last episode was hilarious and I talked to him for awhile and I got the impression that he thought I was kind of an idiot and looked down on me, but I totally didn't care because it was John Krasinksi.

Yeah. I was really sad to wake up from that.

Anyways. Time for more physics!

wtf I want my car back! 2-3 weeks ago when I first took it in they said it would be ready on the 5th, which was last Thursday. My mom told me it'd be like 3-4 weeks, so I was really happy with that, since it was sooner than I expected. But then Thursday they were like "We're almost done, we just got to do this thing, and you can have it Friday." Friday it wasn't done, but they said definitely Saturday. Saturday, still not done, but Monday! Monday it was almost finished, and on Tuesday they'd deliver it themselves to my house. Well, it's Tuesday, and now they're saying it'll be for sure done tomorrow. For some reason, I don't believe them. I mean, I'd be fine with if it they'd just told me in the first place it'd be like three weeks because I wasn't expecting it to be done so soon. And it doesn't even seem like they underestimated the time it would take, because each day they keep saying it'll be done the next day. It just makes me think they're saying it'll be done the next day to placate me when they know it really won't be done for like another week. The thing is, I'd rather they just tell me the truth about when it'll be done then lie to me.

Anyways. Hello to new friends from the fall friending meme! Just to let you (and the rest of my friends list who doesn't already know), I suck at checking my flist on Mondays and Tuesdays because Mondays I get home at 5:15, have until 8 to finish homework (and Mondays I usually have the most amount of homework), watch TV from 8-11, then sleep at 11 so I'm not dead at school the next day, and Tuesdays I don't get home till 8 because of Symphony, and then I watch TV till 10 and that usually doesn't give me enough time to do anything online. But I'll catch up on everything tomorrow afternoon.

Now for TV stuff! Some of this probably doesn't need to go behind a cut, and I don't think I have a lot to say about anything, but here we go anyways:

Heroes )

Studio 60 )

Gilmore Girls )

Veronica Mars )

blah. I still have French homework to finish. Off to do that now.
brokenrecord: (Default)
Been watching a bunch of TV:

Heroes Pilot )
The Singles Table Pilot )
Entourage Season 1 Episodes 1&2 )
Green Wing Season 1 )

Fall TV Schedule )

I only have 1 1/2 days of summer school left! (The half day is because we don't have to take the final in political science if our grade isn't borderline, so I get to leave after economics on Thursday, and on Friday I don't have to come at all.) So glad that's nearly through with.
